Failures and New Starts

Elizabeth went to bed late. When she awoke she went to the hall loaded a plate and ate. Crisp brought her a book bag and After eating went up to the room and drew out a well read Hercules Paris Novel and started reading to the sleeping boys. "The Healer stuck her head out of the officer and then drew her head back. When time slipped enough Daphne stepped in and took over and Elizabeth spotted Pansy heading by with a house elf following with a tray of treats and finger foods. "I give kudos for bringing a party to the recovery of our boys." Elizabeth said at her friend as they set up a side room just down from the Medical wing. They set up a couple of beds and set up a card table and a few chairs so something could be done while they waited. The space was set aside here by the girls so they could go to classes tomorrow and if and when parents arrived. A space to wait. Ginny brought down a portrait that was a twin to one outside the headmaster's office so that person in the art could tell them when the parents arrived. As they would need to go to the headmaster first.
And first to arrive were the Malfoys. Ginny and Elizabeth headed to meet them as they entered. Greeting were done with head nods and the younger girls drop in behind the two parents. Draco and Theo sat up. Madame Pomfrey explained they would be back on their feet by late tonight but would be back for school tomorrow. Same for the other boys. Lucius thanked the healer and kept his calm. Narcissa comforted both boys and Lucius said soft words to the boys and answered their smiles with a mussing of Draco's hair and a pat on the shoulder for Theo. The parents took seats and caught up from their last visit. A few minutes later other parents arrived and the other girls came in with them and helped getting seat and glasses of water when asked for or needed.
After the visit. The quartet headed for the Headmaster's office as the Malfoys were The Potters Professors Black and Lupin are there and meet with the Malfoys. With a very clear. The meeting was not for children. With a clear look from Sirius a little sympathy but agreement about the meeting not being for them. The girls headed down stairs and back to the boys. The boys never had a chance to realize where the attack was coming from. So never saw whatever it was. "Well we know that whatever it was. The animal was not native to the school. So someone had to bring it in. It was small enough and might have needed levitation to be placed where it was. If it was brought in it likely was from before the party started as a bag or case would have drawn attention." Elizabeth spoke. "Unless it was a girl. a large bulky purse might not have drawn deep attention as a quick answer was to be sure to have beauty aids for the yser and the gang of girls she would be with." Draco said. Theo shuffled his feet. " I recall after the attack started that there was a drop of something from the ceiling. We might see if we can find out what was. If it was a real sticky material it might have left a mark in the bag 's insides." he said.
The trio wandered, Ok walked in a indirect manner to be sure if there was anyone following. they would find them. Outside the bathroom Draco and Theo checked to make sure they were alone and Elizabeth stayed outside to keep the prefects from interfering. The outcome was a few dabs of fluid that could not be visibly identified were found and samples taken. They took the samples to Elizabeth's rooms as the potions lab should be able to analyze what was found. The test results could not be rushed so it would take a few days . So once things were going the three prepared for the upcoming week.
Tuesday Lupin asked her to stay over after class. "Elizabeth. I want to explain. We kept you and ginny out of the room as Lord Malfoy was going to be asked for who might have a reason to do what happened. As his Son and Godson were both victims we did not want to distress you ladies." he explains. Elizabeth nods. "I gathered as much. I also assume if he gave out names I might be suspected of over reacting to who might have been named and do something." she explains to one of her favorite teachers. Lupin gave a nod to his head. "I need to folks to not think the worse of me." she mutters. "So. What did you find out? I assume an adult brought the animal in. As a child would have issues keeping such a thing hidden from dormates. Unless it was multiple people planning the attack?" she says aloud. Lupin gives her a reproving look. "Elizabeth. Leave this to is." he orders. "I will till Yule." she says. "Then I am going to look deep into it. As if they did this once who says that animal was the only thing brought in." she looks up. "If you start to have success let me know and I will keep my nose out of the situation. " she offers. Lupin nods and sends her on her way.
By the weekend. the samples turned up nothing of value. Samples came back as floor cleaner. None of the being careful in looking for clues worked out either. So faced with a setback the three of them agreed to be more careful and see where things might go. Saturday the gang gathered up to cheer on Gryffindor as they took the Ravens apart. 290 to 0. The Lions were on the mark at every turn and Harry showed what might be the makings of professional Seeker. Draco was giving her and Theo a play by play observation of what was going wrong for the Ravens. Elizabeth was going into Quidditch Widow mode and finding the greatness of Hercules Perry's brilliant solution to the Five Peggie's.
Walking back to the school afterwards. Draco heads off with Ginny to celebrate the win Elizabeth and Theo walk back to the castle. They see a Ravenclaw walking around without shoes on. They think it might be a house thing when they notice a pair of shoes hanging across a overhead support beam. The girl had walked away. So Elizabeth Accioed the shoes to her and then walked over and gave the shoes to the girl As they walk away. "Elizabeth is it my imagination or.." she interrupts. "Yes and I am going to ask Flitwick what is he going to do." the two move on towards the Hall and lunch before meeting up for preparation work. The professor was taken aback. "I will see that this is solved. Miss Collins. Mr. Nott please keep an eye out for things like this and tell me and I will make sure nothing like this happens again." the small man said.
November turned sleety windy just warm enough to not snow. Pansy talked with Ginny about helping her get better clues on getting Harry to ask her out. Milly the soul of tact finally spoke for the masses. "Get up go over and ask him. He might be clueless. But we are living in a age where woman can step up and ask boys out. So go." she said. and went back to her meal. Elizabeth had a smile on her face as Pansy processed what had been said. The next day brought forward a very forward , by pureblood standards, a request for Harry to join Pansy that weekend to go to Madam Puddifoot's for lunch. Harry did a very near squeak of "I would like that very much." Pansy smiled and looked over at any naysayers and had a gloat of victory.
