Show me your favourite book

Prompt: Library
No warnings
Major tags: Library AU, meet cute

Remus peeked through the bookshelf with clenched fists. The black-haired boy looked exactly the type not to care about rules, to laugh at him. But no one was going to say Remus didn’t take his summer job at the library seriously. He took a deep breath, marched over, tapped the sign, and mustered his sternest voice. “No food or drinks allowed.”

The offender quickly turned towards him and proceeded to drop his cup, spilling coffee all over the floor.

“Thank you for demonstrating the reason,” Remus muttered dryly and went to fetch something to clean up with, turning his back to the hissed apologies.

He returned with a bunch of paper towels to the scene of a guy looking entirely too posh to be on his knees unavailingly stirring a coffee-drenched tissue around in the puddle. What an idiot. At least he was trying. Remus admitted he had not expected him to still be there when he got back.

Remus dumped the paper towels beside him, only for him to jump again, stare at Remus' face, then look down and mumble. “Sorry about the mess.”

His voice was slightly out of breath, as if he’d been running. And it did things to Remus. Suddenly he saw how beautiful the hands accepting a paper tissue from him was, how magically the black waves fell in front of the downturned face.

He looked up, Remus met a pair of piercing grey eyes and a shy yet stunning smile and first then realised he had stopped cleaning. It was his turn to quickly close his mouth and look down in embarrassment.

They cleaned up in silence.

“Come wash your hands,” Remus suggested and led the way into the staff room.

“Thank you for helping me clean up,” Remus said as they parted.

“I should thank you. It was my fall altogether.”

“Maybe mine a little bit for startling you.” Remus smiled.

He felt a need to do something to keep their brief meeting from being over. The way the other boy lingered just outside the staff room, awkwardly swaying his hands at his sides, suggested he might feel the same.

“Were you looking for something?” Remus suggested, “Is there a book I could help you find?”

“Eh… no. Actually, I came here mostly to hide from my cousin. But why don’t you show me your favourite?”

“My… favourite book?” Remus felt a smile spread across his face. Without thinking he grabbed the other boy's hand and dragged him with him.

A bad date

Prompt: Gold
Warnings: Alcohol, threats of violence, threats of sexual abuse
Major tags: Bar AU, first meet, Sirius saves the day

The pub is unusually crowded, as were the two they passed because of lack of room. Remus notices a woman trying to squeeze past and takes a step back to let her through, only to bump into someone behind him.

“Watch it!”

“Sorry, sorry!

How the other man manages to both steady him and avoid spilling the three beers he’s holding is a mystery. He flashes Remus a stunning smile.

“Are you ok?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Are you celebrating the gold?”

“The gold? Off course. Eh… Which sport?”

The man throws his head back laughing. It’s a beautiful carefree sound.

“Actually, I’m on a date,” Remus admits.

“Oh. Whit whom?”

Remus grimaces awkwardly and points to the man drunkenly arguing with the bartender.

“Oh… Wanna come sit with us?” The man points to a table where a sporty guy in glasses smiles at him and a friendly-looking redhead waves.

“Really?” Remus takes one quick look at his poor excuse of a date, that’s now lying half across the counter, and does not feel too bad about ditching him.

“This is Lily and James. I’m Sirius.”

“I’m Remus.“ He makes a half-hearted wave, places his gin and tonic on their table, and slides into the outer corner of the sofa. He doesn’t want to intrude but is thankful for somewhere to sit.

“So, where did you meet this… eh… charming guy?”

Remus chuckles at the disdainful tone. “Grindr,” he admits. His default is to lie to people he doesn’t know. But they have already seen the guy, so what’s the point?

“You can do better.” Sirius takes a big swig of his beer.

“I sure hope so.” The man in question is now singing loudly and Remus hides his face with a hand to further underline how embarrassed he is.

Sirius smiles at him. A small secretive smile that gives Remus butterflies.

The three soon dives into a discussion about the newly won match. Remus is still not sure which sport, but he prefers quietly watching his unexpected saviour over getting involved in the conversation anyway.

His shiny black hair is held in a loose bun, that a few strands artfully has escaped. He wears a plain white button-down with the arms loosened just enough to give a glimpse of tattooed forearms. A pentagram around his neck and earrings all the way around the cartilage makes him stand out. As if the sharp features and flawless skin of his face aren’t enough.

The peace is broken when the buffoon unfortunately being Remus' date spots him and promptly staggers over.

“C’mhere. Let’s go!” He demands and pulls briskly at Remus' arm.

To avoid disturbing his tablemates too much Remus stands up and takes a step while apologising. “Look, it’s not working out. I’m sorry.”

“Wadd’you mean?”

“Just… I’m not interested anymore. Have a good night.”

“Well, I’m not done with ya.”

The tone makes Remus shudder despite the hot air in the crowded room. He stumbles backwards and grips the table top behind him with both hands.

“Is there a problem?” Sirius’ voice rings crystal clear over the murmur. In the corner of his eye, he sees Sirius exchange a look with James and start rolling up his sleeves in a very deliberate fashion.

“M’not talkin' to you, am I? Just want my boy’ere. He's mine.”

He smiles a greedy smile, making Remus' mouth go dry. Remus closes his eyes and shakes his head.

Sirius gets on his feet with James not far behind. “Leave him alone.”

“Just ‘cause you wanna fuck’m!”

“Maybe I do.” Sirius replays calmly as he gathers the front of his shirt in his fist and drags him close to his now intimidatingly cold face. “That’s none of your business. Now leave.”

The arse finally seems to grasp the threat and totters off.

“Thank you,” Remus whispers. He sits back down and tries not to shake too much. Everyone is quiet and Remus anxiously wonders if they are mad at him for ruining their night.

“Bloody hell” Sirius whispers.

One by one, they all start laughing from dispersed tension. James buys them all a round of beers, deaf to Remus' protests. Sirius starts making one joke after the other, intent on making Remus laugh.

And when he two beers later walks home with his new bodyguard Sirius’ arm around his shoulders, he feels like it’s he who won the gold.

Sunscreen

Prompt: Sunburn
No warnings
Major tags: Pining, flirting

Sirius spread the lotion over Remus back in slow circles. He massaged his way lower and lower until he let his fingers slide under the hem of his shorts. The way they lingered and the way Sirius' breath fanned over Remus' neck made him momentarily forget how to talk.

“What are you doing?” Remus whispered once he found his voice.

“Putting on sunscreen.” Sirius answered in feigned innocence “You don’t want to get burnt, do you?”

Sirius had play-flirted so much with him the last days he sometimes found himself doubting it was play at all. But of course it was. Getting his hopes up for anything else would be silly.

“You look a little red already,” Sirius smirked and put a dap of sunscreen on the tip of Remus' nose.

He had no doubt he did. And not from the sun.

The way Sirius' eyelashes fluttered while he put the tube in Remus' hand, arched his back, put his thumbs under the hem of his shorts and inched them down did not help one bit.

Fix the shower

Prompt: breathing room + bubbles
Warnings: NSFW
Major tags: Teenagers, pining, first kiss

Remus turned on the shower and looked up as no warm jets hit him. Out of the shower head came a string of bubbles. Groaning he turned it off and on again. More bubbles.

He grabbed a towel around his waist and ran out of the bathroom. “Sirius!”

“What?” Sirius audibly tried to keep himself from laughing.

“Go fix the shower immediately!”

Remus towered over Sirius who was sitting on his bed. He finally turned towards him and his jaw dropped as he took his time to let his eyes wander up Remus' bare chest to his furious eyes.

It was bad enough to share a dorm with someone you had a secret crush on. That wasn’t Sirius' fault. And fine, that he was so annoyingly handsome and maddeningly attractive maybe wasn’t either. But the last couple of weeks Sirius had been in his face constantly. With stupid jokes, never-ending pranks, and plain teasing. He felt like he hadn’t even had room to breathe without being reminded of Sirius' alluring presence. How on earth was he supposed to keep his cool when he couldn’t even take a shower in peace?

“Shower. Now.” Remus pointed with his entire arm to the bathroom.

“Oh?” Sirius breathed and let his eyes swipe over Remus' body again while he slowly stood up and licked his lips.

“Do I need to show you where the bathroom is?”

Sirius just smiled dumbstruck up at him.

Remus grabbed him by one wrist and put the other hand on his back to guide him forward. He could not for his life explain how, but by the time they reached the bathroom door Remus' body was pressing into Sirius’ back and Remus' hand greedily gripping the side of his waist. By the time they got over the threshold, Sirius' head was turned back over his shoulder to give Remus a peck on the lips. By the time Remus slammed Sirius against the bathroom wall he was fully facing him and pressing his lips against Remus in a long-awaited passionate kiss.

And by the time Sirius reached out and locked the door behind them, Remus had dropped his towel and started fumbling with Sirius' belt.

Just try it

Prompt: Peaches
No warnings
Major tags: Pining, teenagers, first kiss

"I don't know what to do!" Sirius theatrically hid his face against James’ shoulder.

"Peaches." James deadpanned, grabbed a crate from the fruit stand they were passing, and swiftly paid for it.

"Prongs, I'm serious," Sirius whined.

James grinned at the worn-out pun and then patted Sirius' head with a soft look. "Just try it."

"What do I do with peaches?"

"Eat them. Duh?" James pushed the crate into his hands and pointed to the bench where Remus was sitting.

Stupid peaches. Stupid James and his stupid ideas. The summer break was closing in and Sirius still hadn't gathered enough nerve to ask Remus out after pining the entire year. How were peaches going to help?

He bit into one and slurped around the sweet pulp. He wiped some escaped juice from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, sat down, and offered Remus one by holding out the crate.

He watched Remus pick one with his long fingers and spin it around in his hand before putting his mouth around the soft skin, biting into it, and licking the juice off his lips.

Remus smiled surprised at the way Sirius was unable to look away, and looking him dead in the eye he took another bite.

Sirius found himself leaning closer. It was pure self-preservation, really. He had forgotten how to breathe. He would likely die this instant if he didn't lick away that drop of juice slowly painting itself along the delightful curve of Remus' lip.

Remus smiled and hummed softly under him before pressing his own lips firmly against Sirius' mouth and they very quickly forgot all about peaches.

Popsicles

Prompt: Popsicle
Warnings: Homophobia
Major tags: Teenagers, Hogsmeade, established relationship

Remus was sick and tired of Snivellus following him around Hogsmeade and pestering him. He was also sick and tired of detentions and had promised himself not to give the creep the satisfaction of provoking him.

He was still there looming around when Remus met up with his friends. They each bought themselves a popsicle and sat down on the low stone wall outside Honeyduke’s.

“Popsicles?” Snivellus snickered to Mulcibar at his side, “That’s just for people wishing they had dicks to suck.”

Remus was halfway standing when he felt a hand on his thigh pulling him back and heard Sirius snort beside him.

Sirius licked his popsicle from bottom to top, winked at Snivellus and blew him a kiss.

Snivellus stared at him with a disgusted face, then hurried away fake gaging.

Remus laughed his heart out together with all of them. Sirius gently squeezed his hand and let go with a secretive smile. For the first time, Remus felt there might come a day when he was ready to be open about their relationship. With Sirius brushing off each and every insult and Remus falling a little bit more in love every time that day was only coming closer.

The letter

Prompt: Burn
Warnings: Homophobia
Major tags: Hurt/comfort, mentally struggling Sirius

Remus stepped into the dorm just in time to see Sirius light fire with the tip of his wand and burn a letter. He sat on the edge of his bed, facing away from Remus.

“Do you –“

“I’m fine. Leave me alone.” Sirius said, further turning his back to Remus.

Remus went up and put a hand on his shoulder. He shrugged it off. Remus reached out a hand to stroke his cheek.

“Don’t touch me!”

Remus immediately withdrew, the rejection aching in his chest.

“Sirius?”

Sirius pulled his knees up under his chin.

“Love? Talk to me.”

Sirius stayed quiet in his tense scrunched-up position.

“Was that letter from your parents?”

Sirius draw a deep shaky breath. “They don’t want a gay son” he mumbled and finally turned towards Remus with tears in his eyes. “I know it doesn’t matter. I shouldn’t care what they think. But it fucking hurts, you know?”

“Of course it does! That’s awful! That’s terrible!”

Slowly, carefully Remus moved closer. Sirius only needed to lift his arms towards him before Remus hugged him tight. Sirius sobbed into his chest and Remus gently rocked him. “And here I just storm in trying to cuddle you. I’m so sorry.” Sirius tightened his grip, fisting the back of Remus' clothes, and mumbled into his chest. “Don’t be sorry. You don’t know how glad I am to have you, Moony. Don’t fucking be sorry, ok?”

It all started with a prank

Prompt: Cowboy
Warnings: NSFW
Major tags: Pining, teenagers, Hogwarts

Remus was almost certain it was Peter’s work as soon as he felt the armchair twist and bounce under him. Despite all self-proclaimed prank masters, no one was as proficient in pranking the others as Peter.

Remus held onto the armrests of the armchair with both hands as it started to run around the common room to shrieks and laughter. It pranced and kicked more and more aggravatedly. Remus held on for dear life with his knees to not get hurled off. He had no chance of reaching his wand.

As so many times, it was Lily who put an end to it with a well-aimed spell that froze the armchair mid-air. It came crashing down with Remus on top.

“Thank you,” he said while scrambling to his feet and dusting off.

Lily didn’t answer just pressed her lips together and shot the laughing pile of Peter, James and Sirius a piercing glance. Sirius stopped laughing first.

“Come on, Evans. No harm done. Remus is still in one piece.“ He nudged Remus' shoulder. “Impressive, if you ask me.”

Remus shrugged, secretly quite pleased with himself and the scene they had made in the common room. “What can I say, I’m good at riding.”

Sirius' mouth twitched and Remus realised what those words could mean.

“Not a word,” he hissed at Sirius.

But he didn’t need to use words. He just smirked and, as so often when he was looking at Sirius, Remus' mind went places it was not supposed to. Before he could flee to hide his burning cheeks, Sirius came closer and nudged his arm again, with soft lingering fingers.

“My cowboy.” He whispered. If it was to make fun of him, it was in a weirdly soft and appreciative tone, but what else could he mean?

“Seems Pads is interested in being ridden next time.” James chirped and Sirius immediately jumped on him and they started wrestling on the floor.

Lily pointed a finger at the four of them in turn. “Clean up.”

When Remus and Peter had levitated all furniture back to their places Sirius had finally pinned James to the floor and was now rubbing a cushion in his face.

Remus stopped by them on his way to the dorm and they stood up panting. Remus took in Sirius' victorious pose and face flushed from the battle.

“Impressive,” Remus said with an intense look at Sirius, who gaped and dropped the pillow. Remus be damned if he didn’t see a pink tint on Sirius' cheeks as well.

Getting ready to party

Prompt: Plus size Sirius
Warnings: negative body image
Major tags: Established relationship, plus size Sirius, mentally struggling Remus

Remus pulled a hand through his hair, frowning at the mirror.

“I was wondering where you left to.” Sirius' voice said from the door.

Through the mirror, Remus saw him lean against the doorpost. He undoubtedly looked ready for the quidditch victory party: His sleek raven hair falling in luxurious curls and glitter on top of black eyeliner framing his eyes, seemingly effortlessly hot in ripped black jeans hugging his thick thighs and a loose-fitting white pearlescent top with a rainbow-coloured wolf on the chest.

Remus couldn’t help but feel both flattered and guilty that Sirius had come to seek him out rather than enjoying the party. He tucked his black shirt into his jeans, pulled the hem out again and sighed.

Sirius went and put his hands on his upper arms from behind, rested his chin on his shoulder and met his eyes in the mirror.

“What’s wrong, baby?”

“I look…” Remus gestured at the mirror and sighed again.

“You look stunning. Phenomenal.”

Sirius passed his hands down Remus' arms, forward over his belly, and up over his chest. He pulled him closer into his soft body and Remus smiled reluctantly.

“I wish I had your confidence. That I didn’t care what anyone was thinking.”

Sirius broke free and looked at him for real, not through the mirror.

“You think I’m never self-conscious?”

Remus looked surprised at him and he continued.

“A summer at the Potters and a semester of chilling and eating chocolate with you, and suddenly I have a belly.”

He smacked his admittedly rounder middle.

“It suits you,” Remus said. He loved the new lushness of Sirius' body, how it shaped itself after his when they were close together. More importantly, this version of Sirius was a happier, freer version.

“Thanks, baby. And don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change it. But it’s hard not to think about what people see. Do they think I let myself go?”

Sirius looked down.

“Sweetheart?” Remus gently placed a hand on each cheek and turned his head upwards. “You’re beautiful. I love you.”

Sirius kissed him. “I love you too.”

“I had no idea you felt this way. You always act so nonchalant about it. You know, dance as wild and laugh as loud as before, like you don’t mind being the centre of attention.”

“I think, in a society so focused on appearance, having occasional self-doubt is inevitable. But I can still choose to love my body. I can still choose to live my life like I want to.”

“Thanks for telling me. I’ll make sure to call you beautiful every day.”

Sirius' mouth curved in a beautiful smile. “That sounds lovely. Don’t forget to call yourself beautiful while you’re at it.”

Remus turned back to the mirror. He had thought his insecurity was just an unchangeable part of life. But maybe Sirius was right, and it was more of a choice? Could he choose to go down to the party and enjoy himself just like Sirius? Well, he could try.

They walked the stairs hand in hand out in the crowded common room. After a thorough kiss, they split up. Sirius hit the dance floor and Remus grabbed himself a butter beer and joined some friends on his sofa and listened silently to their conversation while his eyes followed Sirius. Should he try to be more confident? Talk more? Get up there and dance?

No. Confidence or not, Remus had no desire to start dancing. He would never be one to sing on the tables. He got enough of a thrill from watching Sirius coming alive with the music, throwing his hands up and getting wild. Seemingly unbothered by his waist showing or his upper arms wobbling. Knowing that unwontedness was a choice made Remus smile to himself, relax a little bit more into the sofa, choosing to enjoy the party his way whether or not someone else thought that was the right way.

The most oblivious camper

Prompt: Camper
No warnings
Major tags: Secret relationship

“You coming?” James nudges the lump in Sirius' sleeping bag with his foot.

“I… think I’ll stay here for a bit.”

“Come on! We’re all going wind-surfing and mini-golfing and whatever this muggle camping has to offer.”

“Eh… had a bit much last night. I’ll catch up later.”

“Really? I didn’t see you drink that much.”

There is an unintelligible murmur from the sleeping bag and James turns to Remus. “You’re coming, right? I bet you are not afraid to show everyone how bad you are at muggle activities.”

A hand showing the middle finger emerges from the sleeping bag.

Remus clears his throat. “Actually… my back… think I stay here and read instead.”

“Oh. Do you need something?”

“No. Have fun.”

Remus watches James zip the tent close as he leaves. Then scoots over to put an arm around Sirius who has finally sat up and stuck his head out of the sleeping bag.

“You think he’s gone for real this time?”

“I hope so.” Sirius plants a kiss on Remus' cheek and then drags him down to lie on the air mattress beside himself. “I didn’t know camping meant this little alone time.”

“Oh, it doesn’t” Remus assures dryly, “if you’re not camping with James, that is.”

Sirius shakes his head. “He insisted on walking all the way back to the tent with me when I said I forgot my sunglasses. And when we were at the beach and I said I forgot my towel, he for some reason had brought two.”

They both laugh. Then Remus heaves up and places himself over Sirius with one hand on either side of his head. Sirius wine his arms around his neck and pulls him into a deeply passionate kiss.

Then the zip opens and James sticks his head in. “Forgot my… Oh! Sorry! Bye!”

When James quickly disappears. Remus is still hiding his red face against Sirius' shoulder.

Sirius runs his fingers in slow patterns in Remus' hair. “Well, at least he might leave us alone now.”
