The train ride back to Hogwarts was surprisingly, not very chaotic, well other than the couples running up to each other while you, James, Sirius, and Remus were just trying to get to a compartment. The four of you just scoffed as if that wasn't Sirius last year with one of his nameless girlfriends.
Soon after you were all settled, Remus had to go to the prefects compartment, and you felt like you were about to get interrogated. Always go with your gut, because that's exactly what happened. "So.. [Y/N], when are you going to confess your undying love to my brother?" Sirius asked.
"Uhm, never? I don't have an 'undying love for him'. We're hardly close enough to be considered friends." You replied, hoping Sirius was going to drop the delusion of you being madly in love with his brother soon. He just gave you a look, and rolled his eyes. "Whatever, I'm going to find Emi." You stood up, and grabbed your coat.
After pushing past couples and what felt like a million 'excuse me's, you made it to the compartment that Regulus and Co. usually sat in, figuring Emi would be there with Pandora. You slid the door open, to find only Regulus was sitting in there. "Oh, hi." You greeted. He just nodded in response. You decided to rip off the band-aid. "Why have you been ignoring my letters?"
"You wrote to me?" He inquired. You sighed, just as you'd expected.
"Yes, I wrote your three letters." You started to explain. "One to tell you that I was attending the ball, another on Christmas to tell you that Sirius and I made it back to my house safely, and one a few days before New Year's."
"Oh, [Y/N]. Why hadn't you just stopped writing after I didn't respond? That's probably why my mother was so cross with me." You started to regret posting those letters if it had meant trouble for Regulus.
"I'm sorry, I didn't think she was intercepting them. Well, of course I had my suspicions, but I didn't know she would get angry about it."
"It's okay. Thank you for trying."

As you stepped of of the train with the group of older boys, Sirius was already planning on where he would put the new record player. After it seemed as he'd decided on his nightstand, Remus reminded him of all of the things he kept atop it, so that lead him into a mental battle with himself about it.
James, per usual was already searching the hordes of people for his favorite red head, Lily Evans. He was convinced that, since the two of you had downed your twelve grapes, she'd immediately like him back, and although you attempted to deter him from the idea, he wouldn't budge. Remus and Peter were walking a little farther behind the three of you, talking about a book Peter had been gifted by his parents.
Although, it wasn't as if you were any better than James, you were also scanning the crowd to look for your friends. Emi hadn't come to sit with your other group like she usually did. You had the sneaking suspicion that Emi and Pandora were getting closer with each other than they were with you. It was quite alright with you, since Pandora had secretly expressed the fact that she was very much into Emi.

Upon making it back to the castle, you were tired and cold. The snow had let up back where you lived, but it seemed it hadn't over here. The warmth that the floating candles gave off as you were entering the great hall was very appreciated, and for a change, you decided to sit with James and the boys for dinner instead of Pandora and Emi, giving them a little date if you will.
"This is so off-putting." You told James after sitting down beside him. "I'm usually all the way over there."
"Hm, I guess I could see that, but we're cooler over here." James responded, smiling at you, you just rolled your eyes in response.
Dinner was delicious as it always was at Hogwarts, the house elves in the kitchen did not disappoint. Although the welcome back feast was lively and fun, you were so tired from waking up early in the morning, so soon after you'd finished your food, you made your way up to your dorm. Surprisingly, you actually just unpacked as soon as you got there, not just leaving your things in your trunk to sit for a week.
The week passed by in a blur like they tended to do, and before you knew it, it was the weekend. You hadn't really spoke to Regulus, and thought that maybe things had gotten weird between the two of you after his family's ball and the letters he never received. You really hoped not, but it seemed inevitable. You adored the time you spent with Regulus when words were not needed, just faint gestures and expressions.
That's why, when you were walking from Herbology to Potions, and you bumped into him, and he didn't immediately pull away from conversation as he was so fond of doing, you were slightly surprised. Pleasantly, but still surprised none the less.
As the two of you fell into step, and familiar conversation, you felt solace for the first time this week. You'd spent too much time worrying about whether or not Regulus would ever speak to you again, and now here he was, striking up conversation instead of hiding from it. When you talked to him on the train, you couldn't help but feel like it was forced. You felt nothing of the sort right now. It was lovely.

After a labor filled day, you sat with your friends who had decided to take purchase at the Slytherin table tonight. After plating up a sizeable amount, you dug into your food, savoring the taste on your tongue. Even if this wasn't nearly as fancy as the feast that had occurred last night, it'd tasted better. especially after considering the fact that you hadn't had time to stuff your face during lunch.
When you finally finished your serving of food, you started to feel tired, as you always did after eating. Everyone still somehow had the energy to stay up and converse, so you excused yourself early, and made your way up to your dorm. After going through your nightly routine, you tucked yourself into bed, just ready for the weekend.
