“Merry Christmas my Moony”
During the years, the marauders had got some traditions and even before they had got together, Sirius and Remus already had their habits.
The first year had passed quietly until Christmas.
During the holidays little James and Peter decided to come back home.
Remus couldn't because his parents decided to go back to Galles and they couldn't take him with them.
Sirius had preferred staying at the castle.
The two guys spent a lot of time together, playing with the snow, making snowmen, drinking warm chocolates and reading in the library.
Yes, they both read.
Sirius would have never admitted it but he enjoyed reading a good book, during his childhood he didn't have a lot to do so he used to close himself in the library of the manor with his little brother.
Sirius noticed that every day Moony looked way sadder than the previous day, and he didn't understand why.
He was usual to people who immediately got exhausted of him and started ignoring him.
His parents used to.
But the fact Remus was doing this too, was slowly killing him.
He knew he was a bothersome person but it still hurt.
That day, two days before Christmas, he came into the library where Remus was reading a book about magic creatures at the same table they had always shared.
“Can I sit here too, or I'm bothering you?”
He said it with a huffy voice, glancing at his friend.
“What do you mean? Of course, you can…”
Sirius sat.
And then, he took a breath.
“Listen, I can accept that now you don't like me anymore, I just wondered if it's gonna be forever or some day you'll get back my best friend…”
Remus looked at him confused.
“I don't understand what you are talking about…”
“Don't make fun of me, I know you are ignoring me. I'm used to people who get exhausted by me but please for Christmas I need you to be happy…”
Remus shook his head and snorted annoyedly.
“It's not all about you, Sirius! Life is just too much sometimes. I miss my family. The moon is near. The school stresses me. What should I add?”
Sirius felt… Relieved?
At a certain point yes, but he also felt really sad.
He knew his friend didn't like hugs, but he felt like it was the right moment.
So he crossed the table and came to him.
He hugged his friend with love.
The morning of Christmas when Remus woke up, he noticed Sirius was not there.
With his quiet, Remus got out of bed and came to the common room, directed to the Great Hall.
But there was something different, the stairs were painted red and gold as in Gryffindor's house with an arrow painted in black on any single stair.
And at the end of the stairs, there was Sirius.
Sat in an armchair.
He was wearing a hoodie with a sentence written there which said.
“Merry Christmas my Moony”.
It was written with a pen but Moony appreciated it.
“Is that my hoodie?”
“Moony! Surprise!”
Then, Sirius took off the hoodie and gave it to Remus.
“So, if you feel sad again, you can wear this and remember that there's someone who's always with you…”
Remus felt happier than ever, anyone had never done something like that for him.
So he hugged him.
This tradition continued every year, every time before Christmas one of Remus hoodies disappeared and he knew Sirius had them.
Every year it was little different.
Second year: “Merry Christmas my dear Moony”
Third year: “Merry Christmas my dear friend Moony”
Fourth year: “Merry Christmas my sweet dear Moony”
Fifth year: “Merry Christmas my beloved Moony”
Sixth year: “Merry Christmas Moony-forgives me please I still love you”
Seventh year: “Merry Christmas my beloved boyfriend Moony”
After school, Sirius continued.
1979 “Merry Christmas my dear beloved adored Moony- I'll never stop loving you”
1980 “Merry Christmas my dear beloved adored sweet horny favourite wirewolf/Moony”
Sirius somehow continued even then. From Azkaban, he obtained a hoodie for Christmas from the prison and he continued sending that to Remus even if he never replied.
1981 “Merry Christmas my beloved Moony- help me I'm innocent”
1982 “Merry Christmas my Moony- don't forget me please”
1983 “Merry Christmas my(?) Moony- I'm still yours and I'll always be”
1984 “Merry Christmas my Moony- I'm still alive don't worry”
1985 “Merry Christmas my Moony- I hope you are ok”
1986 “Merry Christmas my Moony- I still love you so badly”
1987 “Merry Christmas my Moony- please tell me something even that you hate me”
1988 “Merry Christmas my Moony- your padfoot is here and it's still yours”
1989 “Merry Christmas my Moony- tell me you didn't get married”
1990 “Merry Christmas my Moony- I love you and I'm not a killer”
1991 “Merry Christmas my Moony- it's that stupid rat the killer, please believe in me, I still love you”
1992 “Merry Christmas my Moony-I can't continue staying here, I'm gonna get mad”
1993 “Merry Christmas my Moony- or should I say professor Lupin? You are so hot with tie tbh”
And then, when they finally got back together, Sirius continued.
1994 “Merry Christmas my Moony- would you marry me when the war will stop?”
1995 “Merry Christmas my Moony- you know I love you more than my motorbike?”
1996 “Merry Christmas my Moony- I think I'm gonna propose to you exactly now”
In fact he did, he proposed Remus to marry him.
But we all know how it ended.
He died in the June of that year.
And non
e never wrote “Merry Christmas to my Moony” anymore.
Even when he married Tonks, the day of Christmas Remus went at Sirius' grave with a hoodie with a sentence on it.
“Merry Christmas my Padfoot”.
