Vodka-Soda
Saturday, October 14th
Caitlyn fell back on her soft plush couch with a sigh, closing her eyes. Her hair still up in a ponytail and the forest-green apron with the bakery’s little logo tossed carelessly into some corner of the cozy apartment above her parents— no, her, bakery.
It wasn’t necessarily spacious or anything, but it was home. A small, tiny, office on the left of the entry, a living room- kitchen on the right, a bathroom down the hall and a bedroom next to the kitchen. She didn’t need more, she didn’t even want more. The apartment was held in a sort of vintage-y British style. Old oak furniture, cute wallpaper and a ton of books and picture frames hung up on the wall.
She took a few deep breaths, internally cursing her Parents for retiring now of all times— as if the final year of college wasn’t already stressful enough, she now needed to run the bakery until her cousin would be old enough to take it over. Selling the bakery? She couldn’t even dream of it, its been run by the Kiramman family for centuries and they are known all around Manchester for their sweet pastries and delicious sourdough bread. If she gave this up it would make her entire bloodline turn in the grave.
Therefore, Caitlyn didn’t have much of a choice except engage in the management of the bakery and help down at the counter. To her luck her parents refused to make a fuss out of it, every employee stayed, leaving Caitlyn to lead a team of 5, including herself.
She never wanted to follow in her parents footsteps, thats why she signed up for college right after high school and is now in her senior year, despite her parents disadvantages she pulled through and chose criminology as her major. Somethings she’s dreamed off since she was little. Being a Criminal Investigator.
After a few more moments of staring at her ceiling Caitlyn managed the courage to get up and flip out her laptop, she was just going to finish her essay real quick.. then she could finally relax.
As said, as done.
And two hours later she could finally close her laptop and lay back on the couch, pulling out her phone and scrolling through her Instagram feed, when suddenly one of her college friends, Maddie, texted her asking if she would go out to this new club that opened just a few weeks ago with them.
After some contemplating, Caitlyn decided against her ‚self-care, pilates and true crime‘ and found herself agreeing to meet her group of friends at said club at around 9. Considering it was already 7:30pm and she had about 20 minutes of transit to get to the club, she was left with a little more over an hour to get dressed and ready to go.
In record time she took a shower, did her hair and put on some light makeup. Now being stuck with half her wardrobe spread on her floor and the disaster of deciding what to wear. In the end Caitlyn decided on a simple, short, dark blue, satin dress and a matching set of Lacey lingerie, just in case. Putting on her golden jewelry in a hast, grabbing her purse and putting on her heels, she decided she’d need to run for the subway.
A little out of breath, but right on time, she met her friends outside the club, greeting them with warm hugs.
„You know, being a little late doesn’t bother anyone Cait. We much rather have you in one piece 5 minutes later than out of breath with a broken ankle from running in those heels.“ Maddie sighed, shaking her head at Caitlyns need to always be perfectly on time, no matter the lengths the tall woman would have to go through.
„I’ll try next time“
Yeah sure, the day that Caitlyn is late will be the day when the universe crashes. Theres nothing she hates more than being late.
Walking into the cute club Caitlyns eyes immediately locked onto the hot bartender mixing drinks in a black dress-shirt and a white towel over her shoulder. A roman 5 tattooed underneaths the woman’s right eye and ink of what Cait made out to be gear on the side of her neck, poking out of the black fabric. Short hot pink hair falling into the bartenders face and steel-blue eyes fixed on her the second Caitlyn and her group walked into the club.
The navy haired woman cant help the shiver running down her spine at the intensity of the other woman’s gaze, swallowing dryly to get rid of the nervous feeling building up in her stomach.
Seemingly Maddie and Mel had already laid their eyes upon two poor unsuspecting souls, leaving Caitlyn to stand by herself.
Frustrated by the suspected turn of events she rolled her eyes and decided she’d be better to go get herself the drink— maybe she also just wanted to talk to the pretty bartender..
Sighing she sits down on one of the empty stools, crossing one leg over the other. It doesn’t take long until the pink haired woman notices and makes her way over to Cait.
„What can I get ya?“
oh god damn that voice- No, stay focused Cait.
„I- uhh, I’ll just have a Vodka soda?“
She already mentally scolded herself for being flustered in the first place, but damn, that woman was hot.
„Mhm, comin’ right up sweetheart“
If Caitlyn wasn’t blushing before, she sure as hell was now..
