Battle Evolution!
The first battle started quickly, and it was the same concept as the contests, meaning there was no prize but the reigning Hogwarts Champion would give their own individual reward.
Alice Fortescue was competing again, this time using a snubble to battle against another student's magmar.
The magmar pretty much finished her off in three shots with a simple fire blast. Alice sighed and picked up her snubble, carrying the pokemon to nurse joy whilst muttering numerous curse words under her breath.
Lily was in the second match against Evan, which was a lot of pressure, to say the least.
"Alright, Togepi let's go!" Lily declared, as her small togepi waddled onto the battle field.
"You really want to use togepi?" Evan asked, enlarging his Pokeball, "I feel kind of bad, but fine." He shrugged, throwing the ball into the air and releasing his totodile, who turned around and bit Evan on the head before running onto the battle field.
"Alright, let's show our ancient power attack!" Lily called out, her hand clenched into a fist. Togepi cooed before closing it's eyes and using the rock type attack, which totodile failed to Dodge.
"Water gun!" Evan declared, as his totodile giggled and used the move.
"Dodge it!" Lily called as the togepi moved out of the way, quickly. "Now let's use charm!" Togepi winked and used the pink-heart move.
The totodile wondered in a circle for a second before becoming confused and falling onto the floor.
"Now finish it off with ancient power!" Lily called out, as togepi charged up a small ball of energy which hit directly.
"How did togepi beat me?" Evan shouted as he returned his fainted partner.
"Yes togepi!" Lily shouted in joy as she hugged her togepi. Lily grinned as her friends in the crowd cheered and shouted her name.
Round after round went by, and Sirius was eliminated quickly, but James made it through. Peter was also eliminated, and Barty and Marlene both made it through. Eventually, it was Lily's turn again.
Her and togepi battled a few more trainers, winning with a struggle, before it was her against Barty.
Barty smirked as he threw a Pokeball in the air, and his cute little litten was released onto the battlefield. The pokemon took an offensive stance before begining to circle around the togepi.
"Listen, I won't hold back!" Barty shouted at Lily from across the pitch.
"Perfect, because I wont either!" She put one leg behind her before commanding her togepi to use ancient power. Although super effective, litten dodged it with ease before using ember which knocked togepi over.
Lily clenched her teeth before telling her pokemon to use pound. Litten countered with bite, knocking togepi back down again. The small pokemon was panting, one eye open as it looked at litten.
Barty wasn't finished yet, though. He told his litten to use a continuous bite which caused Togepi to Yelp in pain. Lily was frozen in place, she didn't know what to do.
"Togepi!" Lily shouted, before a bright light was emmited from the pokemon. Different hues and sparkles of blue shone around the small pokemon, before it's body began changing. Togepi's colour became white, and small wings sprouted on the pokemons back.
"Togetic!" Lily's togepi had evolved, and looked better than ever. Lily jumped with joy as the crowd all cheered for her.
"Right," She wiped one finger bellow her nose as she tied her hair in a ponytail, "time to get started."
Barty smirked before clenching his fists, "All right, I'm getting riled up now!" He shouted before taking a fighting stance.
"Alright, let's try ancient power!" Lily shouted. Her togetic used the move, and litten failed to Dodge it.
"Ember, let's go!" Barty shouted, and togatic flew around the sky with ease, avoiding the account.
Her togetic then used a wind which Lily hadn't seen before, it seemed to be fairy wind. Litten failed to keep it's stance as it fell to the ground.
"Let's keep it up with some more fairy wind!" Lily shouted, as togetic did a spin in the air and smiled towards the crowd before using a powerful fairy wind on Barty's litten.
The small, cat-like pokemon became dizzy and collapsed before fainting. Lily felt her cheeks turn red as she panted and cheered, jumping into the sky to hug togetic.
"You know Togepi evolves from high friendship," Lily heard a female voice from behind her say. She turned around with wide eyes to see the Hogwarts Queen, Narcissa, standing there with her arms folded yet with an inviting smile on her face, "You two must be super close."
"Oh, I mean I've only had her for like a month." Lily grinned.
"Impressive," Narcissa stated as she stroked Lily's togetic, "That umbreon of yours is super exceptionally talented too," She said.
"Oh no, she isn't mine!"Lily explained as Narcissa's grin turned into something more perplexed.
"Shame, you two seemed like good team mates," Narcissa gave a warm smile before turning on her heel and walking towards her sister, Bellatrix.
Lily won a few more battles, defeating Marlene in the process before reaching the finals. Togetic was begining to be tired, but as was James's charmander.
"It's super cool that she evolved!" James shouted from across the pitch.
"Thanks!" Lily smiled warmly.
"Axew!" James' axew waved from his side. His charmander was the one battling, but his axew wanted to watch as well.
"Right, let's go right in with flame thrower!" James shouted, throwing his arm in the air as he called attacks.
"That looked stupid!" Regulus shouted from the crowd with a stupid grin on his face. James flipped him off from behind as togetic dodged the attacks with ease.
"Fairy wind!" Lily called, but charmander wasn't very affected by the attack.
Lily clenched her teeth as she thought of her next move, but before she could, James shouted, "Bite! Don't hesitate!" His charmander leapt high in the sky and successfully landed bite attacks on togetic. Lily was paralyzed with shock again, it was just like the match against Barty.
"Fine, let's do ancient power!" Lily shouted. The move hit charmander and was extremely effective, but his pokemon was still awake and brimming with passion.
"Flame thrower with a spin!" James shouted, as he spun with his pokemon.
"How did two first years get to the finals?" An older voice from behind Lily whispered.
"Because it's only one pokemon!" another replied. Lily clenched her teeth, maybe they were right, and she had no chance at winning this. She shook the thought away.
"Fairy wind at full power!" Lily countered.
Both the pokemon attacked in unison, causing a huge explosion of fairy wind mixed with flame thrower. Once the smoke had cleared, Lily moved her arm from shielding her eyes before staring at the scene before her.
Charmander was panting at one side of the pitch, whilst togetic was groaning on the ground. It gave a small struggle before fainting. Lily looked at her shoes, she wanted to fall to her knees and sob. Togetic evolved for no reason, they lost anyway. She swallowed her pride and placed a fake smile on her face before returning togetic and shaking hands with James, who received his gift from Bellatrix.
Inside of his gift was another egg, this time with a slightly different pattern than Mary's was.
The rest of the night was spent dancing and celebrating, along with a few seventh years being forced out of the dance because they snuck vodka in a water bottle.
The clock struck eight o'clock, and some first years began leaving. Lily, not wanting to stay there for any longer either, decided to go back as well.
Lily, Mary and Marlene all went back to the dorms together at around the time the rest of the first years were leaving. Fennekin was on Lily's shoulder, whilst togetic was in it's Pokeball.
When Lily got back to the dorm, she changed into her pyjamas and tucked herself into bed. She turned on her side as she stared into the darkness. There was a voice inside her head, making her feel guilty. The voice saying that she would return togetic before it fainted. She swallowed and shut her eyes, blocking her own voice from her mind.
