Togepi and Battles!
Lily rolled out of bed the next morning. It was six and school started at nine, but breakfast was only served from seven to eight. She threw her pillow at Marlene's head in order to wake her up, which only ended in an early pillow fight.
Lily eventually ended up changing into her uniform. As it was only one lesson yesterday they were excused, but today they had to wear them. Since she was in moltress, she had to wear a black tie with red stripes. It was paired with a grey pleated skirt and a white button up shirt. She also wore a black jumper over it but that was optional.
Lily stroked Fennekin and began to put on her Mary Jane shoes when she noticed something strange. Underneath her bed, Lily could see a small pokemon hiding, or rather sleeping.
She opened up her laptop immediately and began to check the list of Dumbledore's known pokemon, but none of them matched this adorable creature, meaning that it had to be wild.
It resembled a cracked egg with decorations on the shell as it snored softly. A togepi was underneath Lily's bed right now.
She buckled up her shoes before picking up the pokemon softly and placing it in her handbag.
"I'll show this to Dumbledore at breakfast and see if he has any suggestions." Lily whispered to fennekin, who smiled in response.
She was careful with every step as not to wake it, and when she reached the great hall at seven, it was completely empty, except for Dumbledore and a few members of staff.
Lily nervously approached him, an he curiously stared down at her. "Sir, I um," she stuttered, avoiding eye contact, "I found a togepi in my room, and was wondering if it was yours?" She managed to choke out, slightly louder than intended. She felt her face heat up with embarrassment as she waited with anticipation for a response.
"To my knowledge, I do not own a togepi, it is possible that the pokemon managed to sneak into the school." He smiled, "It seems to feel comfortable with you, maybe hold onto it until it wakes up?" The professor suggested, and Lily wordlessly nodded before walking towards one of the tables.
She put some pokemon food in her back for when the togepi woke up, and her and Fennekin happily ate their food together.
"We should go to the pokemon centre in the school later for a checkup, don't you agree?" Lily asked her partner.
"Fennekin!" It responded.
Lily and Fennekin ate their food together as more people began to enter the Hall.
"First lesson is mythicals and legendaries, I'm so excited." Mary smiled as she ate a mouth full of scrambled egg.
"Yeah, I really want to meet one someday." Lily sighed. If she could meet any pokemon, it would be victini. It's by far the cutest mythical in her opinion.
"You know," Marlene added on, her mouth still full, "Apparently people have sighted mythicals and legendaries in the forbidden forests and by the black lake."
"But, we aren't aloud there?" Lily swallowed. There was no way that she was going to be kicked out in a failed attempt at getting a glance at a legendary.
"Pish posh, who cares?" Marlene snickered, "I'm seeing an entei if it's the last thing I do!"
"It probably will be the last thing you do if you go in there." Mary said with a giggle.
Lily finished her food and decided to get to class early. When she arrived, the door was already open, so she let herself in.
The professor was an old woman with a tall witch hat and a lycanrock next to her. It was day form, so it's coat was light brown.
"Please sit in your assigned seats." Lily's seat was at the front again, with Dorcas' name next to her. She smiled as she sat down, taking out a simple black pen.
Everybody began entering, and Dorcas happily sat with Lily. The two discussed the class together, apparently Dorcas had actually seen a mythical before.
"It's called Mew, and it's rare," She started, looking out of the window with a serious expression as she spoke, "when I was about five I would play with Mew most days, for some reason it took a liking to me, but I moved houses from Scotland to England and haven't seen it since." She shrugged her shoulders.
Lily had read about Mew, apparently it had the DNA of every single pokemon, and it was awesome how Dorcas had met it before.
"Closest I've gotten to meeting one was my visit to Hawaii a few years back, when I saw tapu koko fly past me." Lily giggled. Dorcas opened her mouth to respond when the professor cut her off.
"This class is not as exciting as you may have hoped, and for that I apologise," Her voice was old and wise, "My name is Professor Mcgonnagall."
Lily heard James snicker from a few rows behind her, so she turned around to stare him down. It looked like him and Marlene were sat together.
Lily also noticed that Mary and Peter were together, as well as Remus and Regulus. Barty was with Pandora, and Evan was with Sirius. Weird how things work out.
The lesson was long, and they only really focused on the three legendary birds for most of it. Nonetheless, Lily took a many notes as possible. It was very surprising to find out that Lugia had created them, Lily was shocked that she didn't already know this.
After that lesson it was battling, which Lily had been dreading for a while. The teacher in there was a young boy, around eighteen, with messy blonde hair and brown eyes. His teeth looked like fangs, and his pokemon was also quite vampire looking. It was definitely a gourgeist, but the colours were very different then any Lily had seen. It had purple 'hair' and a black body.
"Excuse me, but why does your gourgeist have that colour palette?" Lily finally plucked up the courage to ask.
"It's a shiny pokemon." The young professor replied in a tired voice.
"Meaning?" Sirius prompted from behind Lily.
"Meaning that the colours are different, gosh." The professor sighed, tiredly.
"Just battle with whoever, I don't get paid enough to care what you do." He sighed as he fell into his chair and opened up some kind of comic book. Seriously, who hired this guy?
Lily stood around for a second before she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Regulus stood behind her. "Hey, want to battle me?" Regulus asked with a smile.
"Are you picking me because of the type advantage?" Lily teased, before releasing Fennekin. She had never battled before, so she was kind of lost.
"Use, uh, ember!" Lily commanded, swallowing. Fennekin listened, but it wasn't very effective, as oshawatt used it's shell to deflect the attack.
"Bubble!" Regulus called out, and oshawatt's attack knocked fennekin back. Lily was loosing, badly. She had to think of a strategy before Regulus, and that's when it clicked.
"Use scratch on it's shell then ember!" Lily called out. Regulus looked confused.
"Dodge it!" He shouted, but fennekin had already knocked oshawatt's shell out, and hit the water type in the face with a beautiful ember. Oshawatt fainted immediately, meaning that Lily won the battle. She jumped up and down, practically screaming in excitement as her fennekin jumped into her arms.
All of the jumping must've woken up togepi, because the next thing Lily knew it's small head was peaking out. Fennekin made Lily notice it, so she stopped jumping straight away.
Regulus returned his pokemon and then walked over towards Lily, but when he noticed the togepi his demeanure shifted and he looked confused. And Regulus never looked confused.
"What is that?" Regulus asked, crouching down, and the togepi immediately burst into tears.
"Oh no!" Lily sighed, taking out the pokemon and holding it in her arms. Togepi was sobbing loudly, turning multiple heads in the classroom including the unbothered teacher.
"Take it outside!" The teacher groaned, covering his ears at the noise.
Lily nodded and signalled for fennekin to jump on her shoulder, which the fox pokemon did happily. They were stood in the hallway, walking around where it was quiet.
Togepi hopped up and snuggled into Lily's sleeve, who giggled with joy as the pokemon rocked itself to sleep again. Lily decided that she would go back to the dormitory and leave the sleeping togepi with fennekin for the rest of the day.
They hurried there, resting Togepi on Lily's pillow and fennekin curled up next to it.
Lily rushed back to her class after that, and she was back within ten minutes. Everybody was packing away at that point, but Lily could hear Sirius arguing with the teacher.
"If you're so amazing let's see your other pokemon then!" Sirius challenged, awfully brave.
"Uh, if he's a battling professor than he's probably pretty amazing mate." James whispered loudly to Sirius.
"And he even has a shiny gourgeist!" Remus exclaimed, examining the professor's partner.
Sirius didn't care though, and the teacher shrugged before releasing three pokemon. The first was a pinsir, the second was a garchomp and the third was a dragonite. That should've shut Sirius up, but he continued to yap about the teacher's ethics. Everybody was starting to filter out and leave at that point, so Lily just followed.
It was lunch after that, but Lily rushed up to her dormitory to check on her pokemon instead. Inside, Mary was already there, looking panicked as togepi sobbed loudly. Even fennekin couldn't help quiet the pokemon down.
Lily rushed over and immediately hugged the pokemon. The tears quickly began to stop, and soon the pokemon was giggling with joy.
"Maybe it thinks you're it's mum." Mary chuckled, jokingly.
"It's more than likely." Lily shrugged, "Maybe it was a new born who was left underneath my bed by it's mum." She giggled at the baby pokemon playing with her ginger curls.
"Togepi, how would you like to be my pokemon?" Lily said, smiling sweetly at the togepi.
"Togepriiii!" The pokemon cooed, with a large smile on it's face. Lily also smiled, pulling a small Pokeball from her pocket before pressing the englarging button and pressing it softly against the togepi's shell-like body.
The Pokeball clicked immediately, and Lily smiled happily as she released the togepi again. Both fennekin and togepi jumped onto her, as Lily and Mary made their way down to the great Hall.
"You caught a pokemon?" James exclaimed, almost spitting his water out in excitement.
"Yeah," Lily smiled, as togepi nervously peaked out of her bag before going back down.
"Lily!" A male voice shouted suddenly across the great Hall, Lily peaked around the corner, just to see Barty, Evan, Regulus, Dorcas and Pandora waving at her from the Zapdos table. Lily excused herself before happily skipping towards them. "Is it true you caught a pokemon?" The voice was Barty, of course.
"Yep! Take a look," Lily happily unzipped her bag, showing everybody togepi, who had once again fallen asleep.
"So cute!" Pandora sighed, stroking the sleeping pokemon softly with one finger.
"I'm gonna catch an awesome pokemon, you know." Evan boasted, leaning back with his hands behind his head.
"Shut up, tosser." Dorcas teased, pushing Evan onto the floor. They all laughed loudly with Evan as he pulled himself up.
"Why are you here, Pandora?" Lily politely asked, after all, she is in Articuno.
"Oh, I wanted to." She smiled softly, as a vine whip curled onto the table, grabbing a handful of pokemon food.
"Hey chikorita!" Lily giggled, crouching next to the pokemon.
"Chikor!" The pokemon grinned back at her as it ate it's pokemon food.
The last lesson of the day was postponed for the first contest of the year, which was something that Lily certainly didn't mind. Dorcas left first, although she always came into class the latest. Pandora, Regulus and Lily decided to walk together into the concert stadium to watch.
It was a large room with lights pointing towards a stage. The stage had three screens above it which would zoom in on the performers. The three took the highest seats, not wanting to be too close as it would be loud.
Lily gave her pokemon the option to stay in their Pokeball, due to the noise, but both refused and insisted on sitting on Lily's lap. Pandora's chikorita went on her lap as well, whilst Regulus' oshawatt decided to sit on his head, probably making his hair as messy as Sirius'.
Finally, the first performer entered the stage, it was a second year which Lily recognised from the great hall. She was in Articuno house, as that was the table which she say at. The girl had long, flowing brunette hair and slitted eyes with green iris'. Her outfit consisted of a green, fluffy dress with red lace and a big red bow.
The two pokemon next to her were a gorgeous leafeon and Flareon, both with bows matching their features.
They all immediately jumped and began dancing, it was beautiful! Then, leafeon used leaf storm, whilst Flareon used flamethrower to burn the leaves. It became a huge fire tornado!
The three continued dancing before hitting a striking pose at the end. The girl did a peace sign whilst the pokemon both did handstands.
There was around twenty or so more trainers until it was down to the last one. Lily saw so many beautiful and interesting pokemon, such as an alolan ninetales, a milotic, a galarian ponyta and even a togekiss!
"This is so fun, I can't wait to see who comes onto the next round." Pandora smiled widely.
"Yeah," Regulus agreed, "I really liked that Plusle and minun, maybe I can catch some one day!" He said with a smile and a glitter in his eye.
The final girl was somebody who everyone knew well. Narcissa Black, the reigning Hogwarts queen walked onto the stage and everyone erupted into cheers.
"My cousin sure is popular," Regulus sighed, watching as Narcissa waved to the crowd.
Striking good looks ran in the family. She had pale skin, platinum blonde hair with black highlights and was wearing an emerald green corset top which looked both elegant and gorgeous. It highlighted her sleek figure nicely. She also had a ruffled emerald green skirt to match it. In her hair, Narcissa wore a matching headband with a flower on it.
She had a floette with a blue flower and a brionne by her side, and Lily was excited to see what Narcissa came out with. Lily covered her Togepi's ears from the cheering whilst also trying to shield fennekin's.
"Floette, use sweet scent, and brionne, use bubble!" The pokemon both jumped in the air, and the floette made a gorgeous pink pattern paired with a lovely display of blue bubbles which glittered in the light. Then, the floette went around to all the bubbles and used swift on them. Stars flew around the stage, hitting every last bubble. The blue glitter spread around the stadium, causing the crowd to errupt into cheers.
"How beautiful was that!" Pandora exclaimed as Narcissa left the stage. Now, it would be revealed who made it to the next round.
On the screens, it showed that within the ten contestants which had moved on, one of them included the first girl as well as Narcissa. The next round would be battles, and unlike some contests, it was a battle until the opponent's Pokemon had fainted.
"Sometime's there's special rounds," Regulus stated, "Such as double battles."
The first matchup was the first girl against a boy. She called upon a Jolteon, who emited small sparks of electricity as it entered the stage. The boy had a raichu with him who showed off it's power with larger amounts of electricity.
It was an equal match, electric against electric.
The raichu immediately started with a Thunderbolt, to which the Jolteon stood up it's spikes and absorbed. The raichu then used tackle, and the Jolteon used double team. The Jolteon was a skilled pokemon, it moved with agility and grace whilst also attacking with strength. Eventually, the raichu fainted from all of the bites from Jolteon.
This meant that she would continue to the next round.
The matches continued, there was two more before Narcissa was back on stage. "Vulpix, let's go!" She shouted with a grin as she released her Vulpix.
It was an alolan Vulpix, so it had ice typing.
"I'm surprised she didn't use tinkaton." Pandora whispered.
"Powder snow!" Narcissa commanded, and the opponents ryhorn immediately stumbled back. The two went head to head, going from normal to ice type attacks until the ryhorn fell onto it's side and fainted.
More battles passed by, and more trainers were eliminated. The final two were Narcissa and the girl with the Jolteon.
"That's Maria, she specialises in eevee evolutions," Regulus stated, "Apparently she possesses every evolution."
You weren't aloud to switch pokemon in between battles, but they would be healed by Madame Pomfrey. As a result, the Vulpix and Jolteon both seemed tired.
"Use ice beam!" Narcissa called, alolan Vulpix were usually unable to use strong moves like that, but it still worked and hit Jolteon with force. The Jolteon used Thunderbolt which hit Vulpix with extraordinary power.
Both pokemon kept this going until they were tired out and about one hit away from defeat.
"Use powder snow!" Narcissa shouted.
"Use thunder bolt!" Maria shouted at the exact same time.
The pokemon went head to head with their moves, until the powder snow eventually over powered the Thunderbolt. Jolteon cried as it collapsed onto the floor in defeat.
Maria ran onto the pitch and returned her pokemon before shaking Narcissa's hand. As a result, Narcissa was presented with the first contest bow of the school year.
"I'm definitely doing contests." Regulus, Pandora and Lily all said in unison. Togepi and Fennekin were both smiling and climbing on Lily's lap at the sight of the contest.
