Chapter 1
None of this made sense. Alastor had died to a Holy Weapon during battle and knew his fate had been sealed. There was no waiting for it to try and get better or getting the king to heal him. The one who had killed him was much more powerful then that buffoon Adam. Who the hell was that? Even more important, who spoke to Alastor as he faded into the void?
Even his shadow looked lost. Though, was it because he was experiencing the same thing as Alastor? Or was it because Alastor himself and his behavior was confusing the poor thing? He could figure that out later. Right now, he needed to check on the other members of the hotel.
Before he could, however, there was a knock on his door. No one at the hotel ever knocked on his bedroom door anymore...
"Alastor? I know you haven't been feeling the best since the fight against the Exorcists... I tried not to bug you about it, but I'm worried."
Charlie. The dear girl was still alive-
Wait. Exorcists? The battle for the hotel and the injury from Adam... Had Alastor respawned in the past? How was that possible?
"Alastor? Are you okay?"
"Yes, my dear. I am quite all right."
Going over to the door, Alastor tried to remember what happened on this day. Charlie did check on him, however, their conversation went differently. She had used her master key to get into his room and guilt him with her concern to get him to agree to assistance with his wound.
He left like something was missing. Why couldn't he remember what came next? Opening the door, Alastor was surprised to see not only a worried Charlie, but also a very concerned Lucifer.
That's right. When Charlie had found him in that horrible state, she had called for Lucifer. Determined to save Alastor not just on his daughter's request, but also because he wanted to help him.
Lucifer had claimed it was because he was repaying Alastor for all he did and fighter for Charlie. While that was partially true, on a night they were drinking together in a temporary truce, he had admitted it was also because he was impressed by how powerful Alastor was. How about he was able to survive such an attack and withstand it slowly and painfully killing him from the inside.
This... This feels different.
This wasn't the worry that came from how close the two had become in a short time. No. This was an uneasy worry. As if there was still a barrier between them.
What the hell was going on?
