Sirius doesn’t expect to stumble upon a child when he leaves from that meeting but low and behold, he does. The little girl is leaning up against the wall by the door a little covered step to keep her dry. As he looked at her he couldn’t help but think she looked familiar but not in a he’d met her before way but in a like he somehow knew her parents, her dark curly hair was tied back in a braid, black rimmed glasses slid down her nose, and she had a darker skin tone much like that of James Potter, she seems to be sleeping, leaning on a satchel that was much too big for her.
He slowly kneels down to her level and places a hand on her shoulder “hey kid, are you ok?” he asked softly. Her eyes shoot open at his question, a hand moves to side her glasses up her nose before she looks at him with big gray eyes, a gray Sirius had only seen in one person’s eyes… Regulus’.
“Hey kid,” he said with a slight smile, “let’s get you out of the cold… but where to take you… Moons is on a mission… Prongs… oh he has Harry today I’ll take you to him, you look a bit older than Harry, but it’ll be fine, oh and what’s your name?”
“I’m Stella” she murmured pausing a moment before adding “and you are?”
“I’m Sirius, come on kid let’s get you somewhere warm.” He said with a smile helping her to stand, she was clearly young but older than Harry who would be almost 5 now so she might be like 6 or 7.
“Sirius? Like the star?”
He looks at her for a moment before asking “you know my name’s a star?”
“Yeah, it’s the dog star, in Canis Major right?”
“Yeah, that’s right kid” he said slowly as if processing what he was seeing and hearing, “how did you know that?”
“My papa is named after a star, oh speaking of my papa he said if I was found by you, I should give you this letter” she said reaching into her bag to pull out a letter with his name on it.
Taking the letter, he opened it up to see some very familiar loopy handwriting… his brother’s handwriting…
Sirius,
I realize you probably don’t trust me and would rather burn this letter than read what I have to say but I need you to take care of her the girl you are looking at is my daughter. You likely heard that I disappeared just before my 7th year well… during my 6th I found out I was pregnant with her my boyfriend at the time having recently broken up with me due to mother and father requiring me to take the mark. By the time you get this I do not doubt that I’m likely dead and am begging you to keep her safe, so far I have kept our parents from discovering her existence with Andi’s help, but I believe it’s time for her to meet her father…I do not doubt James probably told you that he and I dated for a time before he broke up with me… she is his daughter… hell you can tell from looking at her she looks so much like him, please if you care for me at all please protect my daughter, this is my final wish. You probably want to know what I’m doing well I discovered that the Dark Lord is keeping himself alive through magical means and those means are Horcruxes, I’ve discovered the location of one and am attempting to destroy it, I doubt I’ll survive which is why I’m sending her to you I need you to take care of her as I can’t.
