James had been setting up Christmas lights for wayyy too long, in Regulus’ opinion. He spent most of the time on the roof, stringing red and white lights in a candy cane design with intricate snowflakes around the whole design. Regulus occasionally stepped outside to watch or offer him food, and occasionally James would come in, play with Harry for a bit, or do a bit of basic chores or take care of himself a little, before going right back outside.
The sun was starting to set and stars were beginning to pop out. He’d checked every bulb almost 10 times, turning things on and off and setting up expensive decorations across the yard. It was nearing Harry’s bedtime, so he decided to trust in himself and his decorating skills and call Regulus and Harry to come see. He dramatically connected the last wire, watching it all light up gorgeously, bright enough to see well but not enough to bother people. They all marveled at the spectacular display before whisking off to bed to cuddle under the warm sheets.
