Chapter 1
“You're joking.” Regulus looked back and forth between the script and his agent Dorcas who was beaming at him.
“Nope, it is real!” She practically squealed, her eyes twinkling with genuine excitement. Regulus smiled, which he didn't do often for multiple reasons.
“I actually got it! I cannot believe this.” He laughed in disbelief and happiness. He had been casted for the second male lead of a queer, romantasy movie. It was about an elven prince who's name was Kallias and who was locked away in his room in the castle and an elven pirate captain named Ree who kidnaps him and brings him to his ship. They fall in love and end up in a big battle with the Royal Court the prince is originally from.
“Who's my co-star?” Regulus asked Dorcas who started to seriously look like she was about to explode from excitement.
“James freaking Potter!” She exclaimed and Regulus' eyes went wide.
James Potter was one of the most popular actors in the UK at the moment and was known for mostly doing romance movies and comedies. Also for being ridiculously hot and flirty. Regulus was indifferent about him, he found James a little obnoxious and self-centered but he did do a good job with all his roles. Or had done so far.
“I think I met him once, he was a bit or an asshole to me.” Regulus said with a raised eyebrow.
“That was before he actually got famous. He's apparently pretty cool nowadays.” Regulus looked a little skeptical at her words.
“I'll trust it when I see it.” He stated. Dorcas was about to say something when her phone rang.
She picked up. “Hello?”
“Is he talking the role.” Asked a flat male voice from the other line.
Dorcas raised an eyebrow at him and Regulus nodded.
“Yes, he is. We have the script and everything as well so we can start practicing the lines and-" She was cut off by the voice.
“I do not care. As long as you show up and know what you're doing, I don't care.” Severus Snape, the director spoke in an annoyed tone.
“Potter too accepted the role, chemistry read is in four days. Have good day.” Snape hung up and Dorcas looked surprised.
“Well he's a real ray of sunshine.” She muttered and Regulus snorted.
Regulus arrived at the chemistry read with his two bodyguards, Barty and Evan. They went to sit a little farther while Regulus walked up to a man with greasy looking black hair and a disgusted scowl on his face. There was no question it was the director, Severus Snape who's face had been all over social media after he made a 13 year old actress cry on set. He had a bad reputation but he was rich and entitled so he got away with little to no consequences what so ever.
Snape looked up and his expression turned just a little less disgusted, more judging than anything.
“Good, Black. You're here.” He looked around for a moment. “Potter ran off somewhere, you should go bother him instead of me, we have no business until 15.40.” He spoke flatly, just like on the phone with Dorcas.
Regulus walked away from him. What a delightful person he is. Reggie thought as he spotted a tall guy with brown hair and tan skin, talking with someone.
As soon as James saw him, the guy walked over to him with a charming smile. Regulus had apparently underestimated just how tall James was. He was at least a head shorter than James, more slender and paler. The fact made him a little antsy
“Wow. You are shorter than expected.” James looked surprised and Regulus glared at him.
“Still an asshole I see.” Regulus hated the fact he had to tilt his head up to look at James in the eyes. He had a feeling his co-star would be annoying to deal with.
“Still? Have we met before?” James inquired. He smirked a little at Regulus' glare.
“Three years ago at the premiere for 'Summer rain'. You were really rude to me.” James looked contemplative for a moment. Then he let out a quiet 'oh'
“Yeah, that... I was not a great person back then, sorry about that.” He sounded genuinely sorry. “I'm not like that anymore.” He added quickly. This seemed to be an awkward subject for him so Regulus decided to drop it.
“I sure hope you're not.” Regulus stated coolly and looked him up and down.
“You're awfully confident for someone your height.” James teased.
“Your ego is as big as you are and trust me, that is concerning.” James laughed at that. He had an Infectious laugh and Regulus' lips involuntarily turned upwards ever so slightly.
Te chemread went well and even Snape had managed to look something else than completely disappointed and/or disgusted which was a miracle.
It was was now time to start filming. Regulus was in his hotel room, looking through his brother's Instagram story. He was apparently going to visit James on set at some point. He hadn't seen Sirius in forever, they hadn't really kept in touch after Sirius had been disowned and Regulus had moved out. They'd mutually agreed to keep a distance from each other and try to move on from the abuse and neglect of their childhood so they just followed each other on Instagram and liked a post of two every now and then.
He was sitting in an increasingly uncomfortable chair, getting his makeup and hair done. His personal makeup artist, Pandora, was spreading the foundation over his face and going on and on about her favorite books and shows. He liked listening to Pandora, there was something about her voice that made him want to listen to her explain things for hours.
He was almost disappointed when Pandora put the brushes away and tilted his head up to analyze his face.
“Yup, you're good to go.” She turned him so he could see himself from the mirror. “I think it suits you. You should really start wearing eyeliner on your waterlines, it's a good look on you.” She smiled. “I'll show you how to do it some time.”
“Sure.” Regulus turned his head from side to side and smiled faintly. “Thanks, Panda.” He stood up from the chair and stretched his back, making it pop satisfyingly.
Some people had installed elf ear prosthetics on his real ears and his wavy hair was neatly brushed back.
Now for the part he always dreaded with fantasy roles. The costume.
Another hour later, he showed up on set in a white, ruffly blouse, a midnight blue tailcoat with silver details and black fitted pants. Not to mention the obnoxious silver earrings and the sapphire locket resting over everything. The color somehow made him seem paler than usual, which was likely intentional.
He froze when he saw James.
