Chapter 4

“Well that told you!” Sirius said gleefully “I love her. I think she may be my new favourite. What does PMC mean, I wonder? I’ll have to ask her tomorrow.”
“She knows about me!” Remus said “Her comment about the full moon! How in the world did she know that? She knows I’m a werewolf.”
“So what? She's an Auror, it's probably her business to know. t's not exactly a secret is it? You know, Moody would have had her up on rolling her eyes if he was bothered and she is his protege, so she'd have to be a little bit crazy for him to even consider training her? He was her mentor after all and he doesn't waste his time on lost causes.”
“Why was her hair changing colour so much? You need to know extensive charm work to alter your appearance and it was all non verbal.” Remus said out loud, still trying to work through the puzzle that was Tonks.
Molly looked at him and smiled, as did Sirius who merely chuckled.
“You both know don't you?!” He exclaimed in frustration looking at their amused expressions.
“I do. Cousin remember.” Sirius answered gleefully “I’m not ready to share that information with you. Its hers to tell if she chooses to“
“She grew up with my Charlie, of course I know. It's a rare gift though” Molly said with a twinkle in her eyes, not often agreeing with Sirius but in this instance agreeing wholeheartedly “Rare like her.” She added as an after thought.
“So how did she do it…if not charms…’ Lupin kept talking to himself trying to work through the problem.
“Let me know when you figure it out.” Sirius said, clapping him on the shoulder and leaving him in the kitchen. He was impressed with Tonks. She was feisty, like her mother he thought fondly. A Black character with a Tonks heart. He remembered Ted Tonks, who was kind and helped his cousin see there was more to life the pure blood supremacy.

“You know, you were a bit hard on her dear.” Molly said quietly, in a voice that she’d used when she was disappointed with something her children had done “She and Charlie were inseparable at school. She spent some time with us. You know, she never blew off the younger siblings, Ginny absolutely loved having her around and Tonks always made time for her. Ron would talk to her about quidditch. She would join the twins' pranks which were often amusing, but she was serious for Bill…she could adapt to any person individually which is a rare talent. She and Charlie would have made a lovely couple. A daughter in law like her would be a dream! Plus you should be kinder to her, you should know more than anyone what it’s like to not have people like or trust you.” Molly said with a small smile before finishing in the kitchen, patting his arm.
“Goodnight Dear, give it some thought won't you. Try not to be so hard on her. She's a loyal ally and stands up for any injustice. If there’s a war coming, we want her on our side and you want her watching your back.”

Remus watched Molly leave and takes a moment to himself, before retiring for the night. That was high praise from Molly. Sirius liked her, which was pretty high praise. Dumbledore trusted her. Moody trusted her, a rare feat for him and assigned her a job on her first meeting. Maybe she would surprise him, though as he turned to turn off the light and leave the kitchen he sighed, maybe he had been hard on her. She was still young, maybe too young to be part of the order or maybe Molly had a point, maybe he should give her a chance?. She was older than he was when she joined the order the first time but he still couldn’t see what would make her special and what her unique skill set was. His head began to hurt, the post moon fatigue was settling in. He'd think on it, he decided before heading to bed.
