Chapter 1
Astronomy class was exceptionally irritating. As was Amit, yes Lucas had been friendly, but that been in case he would need Amit, after all- Amit was smart. Lucas curled up in his bed. Slytherins dorms were elegant, gothic- but dim and echoey. He estimated it was around nine, Sebastian a few beds over was stirring noisily, as were the rest roommates. Lucas joined them because normalcy was good. In their eyes he was average. They had no idea he was a god among boys. Lucas changed. Today was Saturday. He’d have time to visit the library and get out into the highlands later.
Lucas skipped breakfast and went straight for the library. Allowing his mind to drift as he walked the halls. He ran a hand along a cool stone wall, the subtle buzz of the ancient magic almost erotic. He recalled the buzz every time he killed. Like a breach, like running for the first time. Wonderful and natural. He arrived at the library and found himself a comfortable corner with a big window and squashy chairs and began studying his field guide. Maybe something would help connect the dots about Ranroks magic versus his own. Who was more powerful? The question drove him mad.
Somebody plopped down nearby. “Hi.” He said. The boy had a freindly face, round, boyish. Big -eyed, round cheeked and small nosed. He was pale, with hair that looked impeccably soft, light brown or dirty blonde, it was hard to tell. Lucas recognized him vaguely. He wore casual clothes and a fitted hufflepuff jumper.
“Sorry- can’t seem to remember your name.” Lucas apologized, proud of how sincere he sounded, while he could not care less.
“Theodore Finch” the guy smiled, like his face was made for it. “Call me Theo. Why are you sitting all alone?”
Theo didn’t seem to grasp the concept of alone time or despising peers.
“Studying.” He closed the field guide. His face deadpanned.
Still nkt catching the drift. Theo continued to talk. “We don’t have any tests or homework for any classes?” He quiried.
“None of m6 business- sorry.” He said curtly, catching Lucas’s eye.
“I saw you in astronomy yesterday, those girls were drooling over you, playboy.” Theo snickered.
Lucas chuckled falsely. He thought it rightful how he was admired, didn’t understand the importance of only a few doing it. Ye5 he humored Theo.
“They tend to.” He said, irritated, Theo just laughed.
“Me and Sebastian were going to explore the forest today if you’d like to come.” He invited.
Lucas was mildly suprised. But something about Theo made him want more
“Sure, find me.”
