The Train

August 31st 1972

Regulus walked onto the train carrying his books close to his chest. He wore a black ruffled shirt, one his mom had made him wear. He found an empty carriage and sat down after throwing his suitcase on one of the racks.

He then opened his leather notebook, dipped a quill in an open inkpot, and began to write. Shortly after Sirius had gifted him the Rilke book he had begun to write, muggle artists, especially literature, amazed him.

Glass shatters
Humans are like a pane of glass

We all shatter eventually.

"Hi, you look like a Black." A blond boy swung open the door. Regulus almost flew into the air. His inkpot went flying and he slammed his book shut.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," Regulus said.

"Sorry." The man I mocked, "I'm Evan. Evan Rosier."

"Regulus. Regulus Black." Reg said before standing up and greeting the blond boy. He wore a jean jacket with a dark green t-shirt under it.

"So you are a Black. My parents would certainly approve of me being friends with you, can I sit?" Evan asked.

"Yeah." Reg said smiling, "We can be friends."

Evan sat down after throwing his trunk on the shelf next to Regulus'.

Regulus collected his stuff and put his inkpot and quill away.

"Don't you have a sister?" Regulus asked, remembering what his parents had told him about the Rosiers.

"Yeah, Pandora." Evan responded, "She should be around here somewhere." The two got to chatting before a girl who looked similar to Evan opened the door. They had the same blond hair color, but hers was much longer.

"There you are, brother." Pandora entered and plopped beside Evan after swinging her trunk onto the ledge. They all suddenly jerked forward as the train began to move.

Pandora chuckled at the quick moment before speaking, "So who did you find?" Evan asked.

"Mr. Regulus Black," Evan replied.

"Ahh, the Blacks. One of the sacred twenty-eight." Pandora said.

"Do you like to read?" Regulus asked Pandroa, noticing a large stack of books tied by a string.

"Yeah," Pandora smiled, "I love stories, and learning."

Regulus had never told anyone before not even Kreature or Sirius but he felt like he could trust Pandora, "I write poetry, this American muggle poet named Rilke inspired me."

"Ew, muggles," Evan muttered.

Pandora slapped him, "Be nice!" Evan rolled his eyes, Pandora continued speaking, "I've never read any of Rilke's works."

"You should, he's really good." Regulus said, ignoring Evan's comment.

Pandora then pulled out a thin novel from her stack of books, "Here, it's the great gatsby. Sorry for my annotations." Pandora smiled, handing him the book.

"Wow, thank you." Regulus said happily. He was starting to get this friendship thing down.

After that the three of them sat quietly. Pandora reading another one of the books from the stack, Reg opening up The Great Gatsby and begging to read and Evan, well even just kinda played with his hair.

After an hour the three of them looked up to see Sirius Black and his three best friends.

"There is my idiot brother!" Sirius says pointing at Regulus.

"What do you want Sirius?" Regulus said pulling out his wand, he didn't know any spells but he could certainly try.

"Nothing," Sirius said snarkly, then mocked under his breath, "What do you want?"

"Are you embarrassed! Are you embarrassed of me, doing what I'm supposed to!" Regulus pushed Sirius into the wall putting the point of his wand to his head. Pandora and Evan looked in aww. Sirius' friends pryed Regulus off of Sirius.

"Yes! Yes I'm embarrassed to be related to you!" Sirius exclaimed as his friends held him back.

"The feeling is reciprocated!" Regulus said slaming the glass door to the compartment and sitting back down on the booth.
