‘I think therefore I am’

Morgana woke with a stretch. A smile gracing her face as she stood from her bed. Nerida and Imelda’s beds were already empty, the fire in the middle of the room had already began to die out a bit. She walked to the door bathroom and quickly bathed, putting her black hair into a braid behind her head. Bright green eyes stared at the girl as she looked at her reflection. She cast a small beauty charm that Nerida had shown her the previous week to darken her lashes a bit and pleased with her appearance she dressed in her uniform and headed to the common room.

“Hey Morgana!” The girl smiled as she passed Imelda heading back to her room, the girl was drenched in sweat and carrying her broom with a bright smile. ‘Always happy after a flight I suppose.’

Descending down the steps she entered the green common room she now called home. The fireplace lighting the room as well as the tall windows facing into the black lake. The room had a tranquility about it, a light blue hue being cast from the water made it all the more cozy. Sebastian stood in his usual spot in front of the fireplace, a book in his hand of course. Ominis, taking a break from taunting the first years, joined him this morning. Sebastian was ranting about something he had read when she approached the Slytherin boys.

“Good morning Sebastian, good morning Ominis.” Her tone was light and joyful. The boys turned their attention to her and Sebastian held his book up for her to see.

“I think I’ve found a lead on how to cure Anne! There’s a plant in America, see? I haven’t tried anything from abroad yet.” The boy smiled gleefully.

“Sebastian. Don't be rude, you dolt.” Ominis scolded Sebastian, grabbing his arm that was extending the book and placing it back to the boy's side. “Good morning Morgana. I hope you rested well. Please excuse Sebastian, he’s been talking all morning about this new potential cure.”

The girl laughed lightly at the antics, as Sebastian pouted. He dropped his head slightly with a flush of his cheeks, “G’morning Gana.”

The girl let out a hearty laugh at his change in demeanor. “How would you fellows like to accompany me to breakfast? We can discuss this new plant on the way if you’d like Sebastian?”

Sebastian eagerly nodded his head in agreement and Ominis walked closer to the two. “We’d of course be delighted.” The smile on her face only grew as the three made their way out of the common room and toward the great hall.

The group was intercepted quickly by a certain Hufflepuff who joined them on the walk. Poppy chatted animatedly with Morgana about a group of unicorns she had seen in the forbidden forest. The group of four passed by many people, some stopping to greet Morgana or to ask a favor of her. Ominis snuffed his nose up when Duncan Hobhouse had said hello to the girl and he quickened his pace to get away from the boy.

Natty and Garreth had walked by the group and promptly joined them with an invite to breakfast. Garreth asked Morgana to test out some new potions he was working on and Sebastian stepped between the two quickly declining in her place causing the girls to giggle.

The group arrived to the great hall and parted ways to their respective house tables and Morgana waved briefly at Amit before sitting with Sebastian and Ominis. Nerida had already been waiting and jumped into conversation with the girl about a new spell she had learned from a seventh year girl that would make your cheeks look flushed.

Professor Fig sat at the high table beside Professor Hecat and Professor Ronen and gave the girl a smile and nod in greeting. Owls began swooping over the tables, dropping down to deliver the morning mail. Sebastian and Ominis received a letter from Anne, who Morgana had met briefly, and a letter from Solomon went to Sebastian. The girl herself got a letter from Professor Fig asking to meet her so they could discuss the ‘problem’ they had come across with the trials.

Once breakfast had finished the three Slytherins went to their classes with smiles.
