Chapter 4
“Happy Biwthday Ginny!” three year old Mia cried, clutching to the birthday girl’s legs.
Laughing merrily, Ginny scooped up the little girl to cuddle her close to her chest. She placed a loud, wet kiss on the girl’s cheek making her giggle, “Thank you my little Mia!”
James squeezed Lily’s hand which was intertwined in his own, grinning widely at the warmth that reflected on his son’s face. Really it was about time.
“Our girl is finally fifteen!” James cut in, engulfing Ginny in a hug. He leaned back to hold her at arm's length, with Mia still squirming in her embrace.
“You’re a big girl now,” he pretended to sniff, although the sight of his first baby girl holding his second nearly had done him in.
“That means you’re getting old!” she cheered, leaning closer to Mia in mock conspiracy, “Your dad is old Mia!”
The little girl nodded solemnly, and James knew he was basically raising a mini version of Ginny.
“That’s enough you two,” Lily interrupted, a light smirk on her face, “Don’t you know it’s rude to be disrespectful to your elders?”
James gasped, a hand on his chest, “Hey!”
Harry shook his head and stepped in between his parents to steal Mia from Ginny and placed her on his hip, so he himself could wrap a shoulder around his girlfriend, pressing a tender kiss on her lips, “Happy Birthday Gin.”
Her eyes twinkled, kissing him again, “Thank you my big Harry!”
A choking noise reached where they stood, and Ron appeared in a pink party hat that clashed horribly with his hair.
“That better not mean anything other than Harry being taller than you!” he groaned, turning a bit green.
James was amused and a little peaky when he saw Ginny shoot his son a sly grin, and Harry blushing.
“Obviously,” she drawled, helping Harry set his little sister down. When she was down, Harry moved to pull her flush against him, placing another kiss on her temple.
“Wonnie!” Mia clapped, running over to Ron and pushing her hands up.
“If it isn’t my favorite Potter,” he ruffled her auburn hair fondly while she wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I’m scared Lily,” James whispered loud enough for everyone to hear, “Our children are being swept away by Weasleys!”
“They take after you then.”
“Come on Ginny,” said Ron, hiking Mia higher up on his hip, “Mum told me to fetch you for present time!”
They all made their way over to the kitchen where Arthur had charmed over all of her presents to float over to the table. A large mountain of gifts sat this year, with the largest being the one from the Potters and Sirius.
From her parents she received tons of clothes, noting that they were rather conservative, but nothing a charm could fix. Ginny got new dragon hide shoes from Bill and Charlie with a bonus pair of heels, and she chuckled lowly at the note telling her it was for her and Harry’s dates so she wouldn’t look too much like a midget. She wasn’t expecting a gift from Percy this year as he still wasn’t speaking to them, but he sent over a book on the newest edition of the History of the Holyhead Harpies.
“That idiot,” she mumbled sadly, “Love you Perce.”
Ginny next unwrapped a whole box of prank supplies from the twins, along with a few prototypes that made her giddy with excitement. There was a bottle of perfume that had ‘amouur-tentia’ written over the front, and she looked up questioningly at them.
“It's supposed to make you smell like what people would usually smell for their amortentia,” Fred explained, bounding over to take it from her and sniff.
“Although,” George added wryly, “Harry might just be smelling that shampoo you dose yourself with in the shower.”
“Hey!” Harry protested, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to bury his nose in her hair, “She smells like Ginny just fine.”
All her brothers made exaggerated retching sounds that had everyone laughing. Arthur and Molly simply looked on fondly at the pair.
Ron got her all of her favorite chocolates from honeydukes no less, and she quietly giggled at the self restraint he had to practice to make sure they stayed until her birthday. Hermione had sent her another book, while her roommates all gave her an assortment of hair pins, ties, clips, and stationary.
James was positively jumping from excitement now. He was sure Lily was shaking her head at him, wondering who really was the toddler between him or their kid in her arms.
“Open ours now!” James huffed.
Ginny laughed at his exuberance, purposely slowing down her movements as she moved over to the large box on the floor, “What even is this? You could probably fit Hagrid in here—”
“Holy buggering fuck,” Ginny breathed, clutching the large, thin, gift in both hands.
“Language Ginny!” admonished Molly, waddling over to check over the commotion, “Really in front of Mia—, oh!”
Ginny stared blankly, mouth open at the broom in her hands, “A Nimbus 2002?”
“JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER!” Molly yelled.
James didn’t even have the shame to stop grinning.
