Chapter 18
Ginny started her life of crime locally—with the Restricted Section. Or rather, reading long boring books about warding detection, and then somewhat less boring books on the wards the Restricted Section used once she’d identified them.
It turns out, while much of the Hogwarts faculty was inept at teaching, they were quite adept at putting up wards. Or, Ginny suspected, Professor Flitwick, in her opinion, the only fully competent teacher in the school, had done it.
This unfortunately meant that she was unable to make any headway into bypassing them. It seemed it required an incredibly advanced knowledge of arithmancy.
Hermione Granger wasn’t exactly one for breaking rules. In fact, it was generally anathema to her. But when Ginny sat down in front of her and gave her an impassioned speech on class disparity and gatekeeping knowledge, she was practically ready to duel Madam Pince to gain her friend access to the Restricted Section.
Fortunately for Hermione’s Hogwarts career, this was not what Ginny had in mind. Instead, much to Hermione’s delight, Ginny just wanted help with some advanced arithmancy.
