Chapter 2: Daylight
“I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you”
“AMES!!!!!!!” Lily shrieked in her ear in excitement.
“Lily…gasps…can’t…gasps…breathe” Amelia choked out.
“Ah yes of course. Sorry Ames.” Lily finally let her go leaving Amelia breaking into coughs and gasps.
“Merlin, how did you learn how to hug like that? You know what, don't answer that.” Amelia said, finally pulling it together. She was finally surrounded by her favourite people, the Marauders, Lily, Marlene and Dorcas. They all exchanged “Hi”s and “How was your summer”s, which was a bit more sane than what Lily did, before finally boarding the train.
As they all found a coup, James and Sirius both dibbsed the window seats.
“Damn it, I wanted to sit at the window seat” Lily grumbled.
“It’s okay Evans, you could sit on my lap-”
“For the umpteenth time, not happening Potter” Lily cut him off before he could finish the sentence. They were all amused and held back their laughter by James’s constant pining. Amelia took a seat beside Sirius, definitely not because she’s been in love with him since second year, followed by Lily, and Remus. Peter sat down beside James followed by Marlene and Dorcas.
“Who’s excited for the Tri-Wizard Tournament?” Sirius spoke, breaking the silence after everyone settled down.
They all collectively said “ME!!!” except Lily and Remus, the two sensible prefects of the group.
“I'm definitely putting my name in,” James excitedly said.
“What? To impress Evans?” Amelia interjected, leaving both Lily and James into a blushing mess, but James had a stupid smirk plastered on his face.
“Well, is she impressed?” James wiggled his eyebrows While smirking at Lily.
“James no-”
The silence was louder than the Great hall during dinner.
“What?” Lily whispered confusion etched on her face
“Did you just call me James?” James said, his voice just above a whisper.
We all stared at her with our mouths agape.
Lily was blushing furiously
“Oh shut up you all! His name is James isn't it-”
She was cut off by James’ squealing. Everyone groaned, now they're never going to hear the end of it.
Amelia saw a window of chance when Marlene, Dorcas, Peter and Remus were trying to calm James down to talk to Sirius.
“Uh so how are you? Wait, that was an insensitive question to ask-” Amelia was about to panic but Sirius cut her off, he knew about her anxiety.
“Ames. Take a breather. It's okay. I moved in with the Potter family, so this was probably the best summer I've ever had in my life.” Sirius said seriously. Amelia took a deep breath as he told her to. She felt happy for him, that he finally found a safe home.
“That's, that's good. I'm happy for you” She smiled softly. Sirius felt his heart flutter as he saw her soft smile. Being the heartthrob of Hogwarts, his usual “flings” lasted for 3 months at most. He felt an unfamiliar feeling rumbling in his chest.
Could it be…?
Nah…probably not…
