Darling
Another diner floor.
"..okay well, just one more floor wouldn't hurt... I guess?" Shelly mumbled, it felt like her heart dropped as she walked out of the elevator.
Vee was dead silent as she followed, though it freaked Shelly out a little. "Do you think you can still do that thing with your microphone? Where all the twisteds would get highlighted" the fossil asked abruptly after the uncomfortable silence
"It hasn't been working properly, sometimes it doesn't work at all and sometimes it highlights more than just twisteds" While it seems like alot of her abilities, and general self, are broken at the moment, her voice sounds to of gotten less glitchy, good.
"Oh? What else does it highlight?"
"Machines sometimes, items, I'm guessing other toons as well since I kept getting highlighted myself when I tried to use it on the previous floor"
"Huh, that's odd" Shelly responded, and they went back to walking silently. Vee's screen flickered and she began to hold onto Shelly's hand while quickening her pace, leading her somewhere- oh! To a machine near the tables! As they approached, Vee simply nudged Shelly towards it, despite previously being insistent on doing the last machines of the previous floor. Oh well, she won't say no to doing a machine, and after it was done- Vee's screen flickered again and she lead Shelly to another machine. Fortunately it had also been near the tables, though, she swore should could hear something nearby.
Vee had walked off a little, but was still nearby. The ammonite shell simply assumed she saw something worth picking up, or something along those lines.
Abruptly, Shelly heard the sound of something or someone? running towards her while she was doing the machine. She quickly turned to look, a twisted boxten- but before she could even process what what happening, something suddenly crashed against it's head with a loud screech and after a, neon green light. Vee's Mic, and it had hit em' hard too, somehow the twisted version of Boxten's head looked bent and broken from the impact, the body was also now highlighted with the green glow, yet the words that are typically above, indicating a twisted, had been nowhere to be seen.
Shelly stared down in utter shock at the twisted, who was now on the ground all bent and broken from the hit. Then, she looked up at Vee who was just staring at what she had done, and was also highlighted by the green light. Though she did say her ability was acting funny, so the toon didn't think much of it.
Shelly finally snapped out of the shock after a few more moments and blurted out "Vee!? What the hell was that??"
"...I just didn't want it to hurt you" Vee then stared at Shelly, blankly
"W-well I think you just killed the thing- I didn't even know they could be killed!"
"Is that a bad thing? Just one less thing to worry about"
"I don't- I dunno! But you shouldn't do thinks like that! Risking injury to protect me when you're the one that should be being taken care o-" Shelly's voice was interrupted by Vee ever-so-gentily cupping the fossil's face.
"Darling, look at me" Vee forced herself into sounding to more akin to how she did before... everything that had happened, with as much of a little smile as she could muster at the moment
"You did promise that you'll bring me back up with you, and I'll do whatever it takes for that to happen. Regardless of what I have to do" Rather strange way of... comforting? Not really, that was actually kind of intimidating to the ammonite, oddly enough.
Shelly only blinked, as she looked into her partner's eyes. She hadn't a single clue as to how to respond to what she had just said.
Vee let go of Shelly's face with a little sigh. The TV's screen flickered once again, and her eyes drifted off into the distance.
"...hm, you finish that machine. I'll do the one I just detected, that fine?"
"...it's fine" Shelly responded, it suddenly felt like she had a headache... they really need to go back up.
One last thing she noticed before continuing to do the machine, no other twisted had been highlighted a few moments ago, maybe the twisted version of Rodger was on the floor? Or just part of Vee's ability acting up. Maybe, though Shelly couldn't remember if the eleventh floor had two or three twisted to deal with
