And the Other One Cried

Haven had felt the scream building in her soul. She opened her mouth to scream with her brother, only for a hand to close around her throat a few short moments later. She had felt something inside of her shift and snap before she felt her magic reaching out and brushing against some strings and yanking hard on others. She couldn’t physically call them but, she was tugging on them to get their attention. Even as black spots danced in her vision, she tugged on two final bonds. When she lost consciousness, she sent out a burst of magic towards the remaining bonds- not tugging, not yanking, just opening them up and bringing them to life.

While every bond was alive and thrumming, five bonds had been tugged on just enough to snag some of the magic when she sent out the wave of soul magic. Those five people all shot up from where they were and were portaled away moments later. The others were left wondering when their soul bond flared to life with seemingly no cause.

Percy Weasley was laying on top of his long time friend, Oliver. Oliver was excited about the upcoming quidditch match in the morning and, if Percy would let him, he would be up all night making plays. Percy just desperately wanted sleep so he could study some more for his History of Magic OWL in three days. It was the last OWL, since many students failed it each year, and it was the morning the day before term ended. He wanted to work in the ministry- hopefully in law, where he would need his NEWT in history of magic. He had already taken his other OWLs and was looking forward to his NEWTs- he was planning on History of Magic (self studied, of course), Law, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Arithmancy.

Oliver, on the other hand, wanted to go professional with quidditch. It was his fifth year too- but he had no desire to sit through the history of magic exam. He already had his eye on his NEWT classes: Transfiguration, Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he was taking a basic healing course with Madam Pomphrey. He wanted to focus on healing injuries with quidditch and daily life healing. He knew he would need a career after quidditch, if that was even possible, but, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do after that.

However, right now, all he wanted to do was pace and plan the perfect plan to win the Quidditch House Cup. It was all up to this last match. Harry had done fantastic at keeping them in the lead for the cup, but it was between them and Ravenclaw. Now, they had a seventh year as a seeker who was a challenge for Harry. Harry had trumped them in the last game, but now they had seen Harry play a few more games. However, Percy was insistent that his pacing was keeping him up- and he had study plans. After a quidditch match was always the best time to study- second only to a game-day when Gryffindor wasn’t playing. He might not play, but he would always support his siblings. But, for them to win, they needed to be well rested. All of them- especially their captain.

However, that was all moot when a tingling sensation started to sting as it searched them. It searched the two of them and seemed to find them lacking because it started to jab at something inside of them. It pulled and yanked at something before it burst. Percy started to burn and Oliver went cold. Both were then sucked into a portal and dropped onto cold, hard stone floors.

Fleur Delacour was always the prettiest in her year. She was a third veela and her other parents were dragels. Her hair was sleek and blonde. She had an affinity for fire, but her early inheritance had shown her element as air. Her wings were full of razor sharp white platinum feathers. They were tipped with the faintest hint of gold showing her rank shift into joker.

Fleur had rank shifted after she lost Gabrielle. The family had been in Southern France on the beach. Her parents were flirting in the water and she and Gabi had decided to run up and grab an ice cream. She had looked away from her while she was digging in her purse to pay, but then both the ice cream man and Gabi were gone. Someone else grabbed her and apparated away when she had tried to find Gabi.

Her parents found her three hours later in a small, dirty apartment. The man who had grabbed was dead after she had suffocated and burned him. But Gabi was still missing. Fleur had inherited there when she had been kidnapped. Four months later, she had rank shifted when her Père died bringing Gabi back. Gabi had been kidnapped by traffickers who specifically took creature children.

Maman and Papa decided it was not safe for them here anymore. They needed to go settle their affairs here and begin to set up a life for them in Neverah. They requested that Gabi stay with Fleur, as she was unable to travel through inter realm portals yet, and Fleur needed to finish her school year. They would only be gone for a week- and Gabi was still healing. So, Gabi was there during finals week and she spent the day with the professors’ children and the rest of the time glued to Fleur’s side.

Right now, she was snuggled between Fleur and the wall with her stuffed bunny in her hands. Fleur was guarding her- flitting between a light sleep and awake with each movement. It had only been two days, but she was exhausted. Just as she started to fall into a deeper sleep, she was startled awake by a tugging sensation. She grabbed Gabi and her bunny, switched their clothes into day clothes, and were sucked into a portal. Fleur knew enough about her dragel side (still a limited amount) to know that this was soul magic.

Krymsen Dragomir bowed to his Queen. Queen Killigan was stunning in royal finery. They had gold draped around them so every part of them shown in some way- either from the gold or jewels. They had a long dark green tail that flared out, razor sharp teeth, and very long talons. Krymsen, however, had eight tentacles which had several weapons strapped to them. His lower half was a smooth steel grey with several spines filled with poison along them. His arms were clear of any marks except a red band.

“Krym, enough bowing. You and I both know that you will be Alcondor and I’s ace after we bond our submissive.”

“Habit, my queen,” Krym smirked.

Killigan went to give him a smack to the back of the head but, as they moved a tugging filled their being. The tugging began to fade before a portal could form, but, both Krymsen and Killigan merged their powers to form single portal guided by the residual soul magic tugging on the both of them.

Meanwhile, Alcondor was in a meeting of the Merrow court. Several gheyos had discovered a creature trafficking ring which had accepted several of the lost merrows to traffic. The gheyos were monitoring to see if any more could be discovered while Alcondor issued an emergency healer call and reinforcements.

After that call, it was the usual hubbub of court- complaints and imbeciles trying to gain more power. It was maddening- as usual, but the court was already scheduled for a normal meeting. Each of the Lords had a different portion of the waters to control and monitor- as a colony. It was a dreadfully normal meeting. This lord and that lord were in a petty feud, one child was marrying another, so-and-so moved on land… The sort of material Killigan enjoyed knowing and using to cause chaos.

Alcondor stiffened. Killigan was usually here- if only to deal with the imbeciles- in fact, he was supposed to be here. Where was his Queen?

And then he felt something tugging on him. It was faint and faded quickly but it left an open burning bond, a soul bond. Alcondor immediately moved to dismiss the court and summon several members of crimson tide and healers and anyone he could think of who could help get him to his submissive. If he didn’t get summoned, he knew there would be several other open bonds as well.
