Summary
first, i have absolutely no idea how long this js going to be. it is a !CANON COMPLIANT! fic about remus lupin after sirius black dies. the backstory of this fic is basically atyd/atyd sirius’s perspective. it starts a bit before sirius’s death and goes until about the end of dh. there is an UNGODLY AMOUNT OF MCD, so take it as you will.the only ship tag i put on here is wolfstar bc it is a lot of wolfstar angst, but it is REMADORA. and also all other canon shipsim making this because i was looking for a fic like this, so i made one.anyway, have fun crying with me!! <3

It had been a terrible week. A truly horrendous, exhausting, dreadful week of working for the Order.

Remus was starting to rapidly regret agreeing to marching back into war, especially after over thirteen years of living as a muggle. But he knew - or at least he hoped he knew - deep down, that it was the right thing.

But it was obnoxiously stressful. If Remus had had any of his original mousy-brown hair before Sirius had come back and changed everything, by now it had probably either been ripped out in a fit of panic and doubt, or turned grey. The stress was overwhelming, but Remus tried to be okay for Sirius.

And he loved Sirius. So, so, so, so much. He always had and he always would. At least if the rest of the world crumbled, he would have Sirius with him. Sirius would always be there for him, and he would always be there for Sirius, like never-ending supplies of love that couldn’t be cut off. And after a week of stress, he just wanted to come home to Sirius and make a cup of tea and sit in front of the fire.

But of course the universe had other plans.

Remus had just apparated back from a mission with Kingsley that had gone.. well, not so great. They were supposed to be observing odd activity, until Kingsley tripped over the roots of a tree and tried grabbing Remus’s arm to stable himself which resulted in both men eating a bit of grass. The worse part about this matter, though, was that while they were brushing off their trousers and spitting dirt out of their mouths, two death eaters had heard the commotion and decided to start a duel. One death-eater even tried casting an unforgivable at him. Shortly after that, when the death-eaters had foolishly turned their backs, they apparated away. Remus invited Kingsley to come back to Grimmauld Place, but he had politely declined, so Remus had trudged back through the rain on his own.

He shoved his hand into the pocket of his jeans, fishing around for his key to number  twelve. He wiggled it around in the lock and then stepped inside, closing the door behind him.

“Sirius, I’m home!” he called out, hanging his coat up near the entryway. After there was no response, Remus shouted again. “Sirius?!”

He searched the area around him, eventually resorting to climbing the stairs to their bedroom. There, he found Sirius nursing a mug of tea.

“Hello, Moony.” Sirius croaked. He looked distressed.

“Are you okay, Love?” Remus made his way to the bed and sat down next to Sirius, placing a kiss into his hair.

“Yurahwaygone…” Sirius indistinguishably mumbled.

”Er… Sorry…?”

“You’re always gone, Remus! You’re constantly off doing missions and I never see you anymore!” Sirius snapped, slamming his mug onto the bedside table.

Oh, how the tables haveturned. He thought back to the last time they had been through all this, how Sirius had always been gone and Remus was stuck in the old flat. He stifled the urge to roll his eyes. “Padfoot, we’ve been through this so many times now.” He let his head fall into his hands. “First, I cannot choose when I go on missions, I am assigned them. Second, didn’t you want to go back to war? You knew I’d be out most of the time.”

“I didn’t know I’d be stuck in the place I spent years trying to escape from.” Sirius instantly deflated, wringing his hands and staring blankly at the wall.

Remus sighed. “Sirius-“

Sirius started to get up and cross to the door. ”No, it’s fine. You’re right. I should’ve expected this. Sorry, Moony, I’ll-“

But Remus couldn’t stand another second of Sirius looking horribly miserable with a frown and his brow furrowed. So he tossed his legs over the edge of the bed and grabbed Sirius’s shoulder, turning him away from the door. Remus pressed a kiss to his lips that earned a quick surprised look from Sirius. Remus smiled. “You can never stay sad for long, can you?” He pulled back.

”Not when you pull stuff like that, wanker.” Sirius rolled his eyes. “C’mon, I’m hungry.”

So they headed down to the kitchen, side by side.
