Earth's Strange History: Timeline

• 13.8 Billion Years Ago
  • The universe is born through the Big Bang, consisting of the Materium and the Aether, as well as several sub-realities and pocket dimensions. A separate plane, known as the Immaterium, is also born, allowing for the existence of magic. This made a lot of people angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
  • The Xeelee construct the Great Attractor and establish their dominance in the early cosmos.
  • The Photino Birds begin altering the universe for their purposes, unintentionally accelerating the heat death of the universe. The Xeelee, who also live in the universe, did not want the Photino Birds to do this, and so they go to war with eachother, starting the First Great Time War in Heaven.

The Xeelee, the least assholish precursors this side of the local group.

• !3.7 Billion Years Ago
  • The First Great Time War between the Xeelee and the Photino Birds devastates reality, reshaping both time and space. The war ends in stalemate as neither are able to completely defeat the other, and both decide instead to lick their wounds and prepare for the eventual rematch.
  • The Immaterium is thrown into turmoil by the conflict, causing the destruction and/or merging of its various minor gods. From the shattered warp entities, the Chaos Gods are formed:
    • Fourfold Hashut - God of Greed and Industry.
    • Fivefold Tjapa - God of Law and Tyranny.
    • Sixfold Slaanesh - God of Excess and Hedonism.
    • Sevenfold Nurgle - God of Disease and Despair.
    • Eightfold Khorne - God of War and Anger.
    • Ninefold Tzeentch - God of Change and Deceit.
    • Elevenfold Malal - God of Self-Destruction and Desperation.
  • The remnants of the original warp entities coalesce into seven gemstones, forming the Chaos Emeralds, each embodying a lost virtue of the Chaos Gods.

• 10 Billion Years Ago
  • The Q Continuum, a near-omnipotent race, comes into existence, overseeing and occasionally interfering with the universe's development.
  • The First Ancestral Race, aka the Precursors, begin seeding intelligent life across the galaxy.
  • Primus and Unicron are formed and wage war against each other, culminating in the former sealing both of them away in uninhabitable planetoids. Primus creates the Jakari (Transformers) while Unicron creates the Achuultani (Reapers).

• 4.6 Billion Years Ago
  • Formation of the Solar System; Gallifreyans achieve their first great advancements in temporal mechanics.
  • The Earth forms around the Racnoss Queen's ship as part of the Solar System. The Precursor Seeds of Life Adam and Lilith arrive on Precambrian Earth, albeit in crashlanding.

• 4 Billion Years Ago
  • In an ancient and forgotten galaxy 11,763,222 light years from Earth, within a region made up of dark matter, the Leviathans of Amphibia are uplifted by the Calamity Gems, forming a spacefaring and interdimensional empire.

• 1 Billion Years Ago
  • The Leviathans begin manipulating galaxies, creating the Webway and uplifting countless species. The first sentient psychic energies begin forming in Warpspace.

• 100 Million Years Ago
  • The Firstborn guide the evolution of species on distant planets.
  • The Leviathans—known to their children as the Old Ones—dominate the Milky Way, enthralling every new sapient race they encounter and protecting them in return for tribute. The Leviathans consider themselves the galaxy's first and only apex race.
  • The Aeldari, a client race of the Leviathans, form their own stellar empire.

• 65 Million Years Ago
  • The Yautja establish hunting grounds on Earth.
  • The Space Jockey’s species makes their first visit to Earth.
  • On Cretaceous-period Earth, the Silurians and Sea Devils spot a rather strange object approaching Gaia (what they call Earth). This object is in fact the Green Catalyst Comet which contains the Lich, an ancient cosmic being who is the manifestation of the inevitable death of all things.The four elementals of the time [Ice (Evergreen), Candy (Chatsberry), Fire (Balthus) and Slime (Slimy D)] discuss how to deal with the comet; the other elementals do not worry about it, but Evergreen insists that they must act by creating a magical crown that will grant the wearers innermost wish. Evergreen then fights the other elementals and ends up freezing them. After the battle, Evergreen brings his uplifted dinosaur slave Gunther, telling them that they will go on a mission to recover the missing piece to his crown. 
  • While the Silurians and Sea Devils go underground to escape the oncoming extinction event, Evergreen manages to construct the aptly named Ice Crown and is about to try to use it to save the world (right when the comet's collision is immenent) when Magwood, an ancient lava dog whose eyes Evergreen stole to make the Ice Crown, arrives and attacks his castle. The fight renders Evergreen trapped under ice away from the crown, so he instructs Gunther to wear the crown while thinking of his deepest wish. However, Gunther's only wish is to be like his master Evergreen, and thus the crown backfires, tranforming him into a pseudo-Evergreen who shoots ice magic and screams 'Gunther, no!' interminably. Evergreen's last thought as the Catalyst Comet strikes the planet is that he never taught the dinosaur any spells.

• 50 Million Years Ago
  • The Krork are brought into being by the Leviathans.
  • The Necrons, a race of ancient, undead machines, wage war against the Old Ones and the Eldar for their C'tan masters, igniting the Second Time War.
  • The Leviathans, despite their Eldar and Krork armies, are stretched thin and are unprepared when they're attacked by the Reapers, ultimately losing the war and fleeing back to Amphibia. With their enemies gone, the C’Tan immediately begin infighting, allowing the Silent King to take command of his people shatter the C'Tan before sealing the Necrons away in stasis.

• 30 Million Years Ago
  • The Xel'Naga begin their experiments to create hybrid species in Andromeda.
  • The Aeldari Ethereal Empire force both the Autobots and Decepticons to the peace table, due to latters' civil war spiralling out of control.

• 5 Million Years Ago
  • Bibidi successfully creates Majin Buu who proceeds to rampage across the universe. Two of the five Supreme Kais are killed by the monster and the South Supreme Kai and Grand Supreme Kai are absorbed, altering his personality as well as changing his appearance. The East Supreme Kai, Shin, manages to kill Bibidi and seal Majin Buu away, burying the latter’s prison in the mantle of what would be named Terra Nova.
  • On Earth, early humans begin to walk on two legs.
  • The Forerunners establish early control of the Milky Way.

• 1 Million Years Ago
  • Several humanoid species and machine sentience reach a certain social level, and take not only their physical, but also their civilizational evolution into their own hands, creating the Culture, an advanced society with nearly limitless technological prowess.
  • The Forerunners arrive on Earth, uplift early humans, and leave behind relics, some of which are hidden deep underground. These uplifted humans would be remembered as the Ancestors.

• 150,000 Years Ago
  • The Ancestors, now based around the capital planet of Charum Hakkor, forms an alliance with the San'Shyuum.

• 100,000 Years Ago
  • The Forerunners and the Ancestors both wage a desperate war of survival against the Flood, a parasitic species threatening all life in the galaxy. The Forerunners, in their final moments, declare humanity to be their successors and inheritors of the Mantle of Responsibility.
  • The Flood Xenocide ends with the activation of the Halo Arrays, destroying almost all baryonic life in the Milky Way galaxy. The Flood is killed.

• 70,000 Years Ago
  • The Protheans create a vast empire in the galaxy, filling the power vacuum the Forerunners left.

• 50,000 Years Ago
  • The Reapers commence their harvest, destroying the Protheans.
  • The Ancients, creators of the Stargate Network, attempt to harness the Chaos Emeralds for ascension. The first Stargates are built and scattered across galaxies.
  • The Ancients' civilization is destroyed by The End, also known as the Absolute Solver, followed by the Ori’s bio-plague. The Emeralds vanish into legend once more.

• 36,000 Years Ago
  • The Gem Empire colonizes the earth under the court of Pink Diamond, who later rebels against the other Diamonds. This brief period of terraforming creates the continents of Atlantis, Mu, and Hyperborea. Antarctica is warmed up to the point it is habitable for humans.

• 30,000 BC
  • The Old Ones, including Cthulhu, arrive on Earth and establish their dominion.
  • The Celestials arrive to Earth and encounter the Erde-Tyrene civilization. They experiment with human subspecies, creating the Eternals and Deviants.

• 10,000 BC
  • Atlantis, a city-state of the Eternals, thrives as a hub of advanced technology.
  • The Emeralds appear on Sera, sparking conflict between the intergalactic Drakons and the ancient echidna tribes. The Drakons attempt to monopolize and cement their control over the Emeralds' power; the Knuckles Clan is rendered near-extinct while the Nocturnus Clan is banished into the Phantom Zone.
  • The Aeldari discover the Drakons' shenanigans and promptly intervene, crippling the Drakon Empire and reducing them to a shadow of their former might.

• 9,500 BC
  • The Shamans consolidate the rest of early human societies into proto-civilizations.
  • Atlantis sinks beneath the ocean. Survivors spread across the world, forming new kingdoms and mingling with Númenórean and other proto-Hyborian peoples.
  • The One Above All attempts to restore humanity within the Garden of Eden but Lucifer corrupts this plan. The Third War in Heaven, also known as the War of Wrath occurs, sinking Beleriand and scattering its surviving peoples further into Eurasia. The Antediluvian Age begins.

• 8,000 BC
  • The Elder Things and Shoggoths dominate Earth's ancient oceans.
  • The resurfaced Atlantis is gifted to the Men of the West as Númenor, becoming a dominant maritime empire.
  • Sauron manipulates the Númenóreans, leading to their downfall. Gondor and Arnor are established.

• 6,000 BC
  • Various Hyborian kingdoms rise, including Aquilonia, Stygia, Hyperborea, and Cimmeria. Conan, a Cimmerian warrior, becomes a legendary figure, with his adventures occuring around this time.
  • The War of the Ring occurs, culminating with the destruction of the One Ring and the final defeat of Sauron.

The dark lord Sauron, considered by many as the first Antichrist.

• 3,000 BC
  • Centuries after Sauron’s defeat, magic fades from the world. Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits gradually integrate into human populations, disappearing as distinct races.
  • The various Antediluvian kingdoms begin to collapse as magic largely disappears, with the remaining remnants wiped out in a worldwide flood as The One Above All deems Earth's current state unsalvageable. The Hyborian Age ends.
  • Many classical civilizations like Sumer and Egypt begin their rise. The Great Old Ones awaken briefly in the Middle East, inspiring myths.

• 2,000 BC
  • The Goa'uld, a parasitic alien race, arrive on Earth and pose as gods to enslave the ancient Egyptians, much to Nyarlathotep's amusement. The Egyptian pantheon is not amused, however, and eventually manage to drive them off with help from their Olympian and Aesir allies.

• 1,200 BC
  • The Trojan War occurs. The Olympian pantheon—one of many sets of gods formed in warpspace by the belief of mortals—interact with early human societies.
  • Long after the fading of magic, Gandalf becomes the wizard Shazam. The original gods of SHAZAM are the Valar:
    • S (Strength) → Tulkas
    • H (Heroism) → Oromë
    • A (Authority) → Manwë
    • Z (Zeal) → Aulë
    • A (Agility) → Varda
    • M (Magic) → Lórien

• 1,000 BC
  • In the Pridelands of Africa, Mufasa is assassinated, and the throne passes to his brother Scar. Scar, however, allows the local hyenas to run rampant, resulting in Mufasa’s son Simba along with the Pride's lionesses overthrowing him. Scar’s exile takes him to Nemea, where he is slain by Hercules.
  • Hercules stops the Second Titanomachy, saving Greece and the world.

• 800 BC
  • The Druun, mindless spirits that turn every living thing in their path to stone, run rampant in Southeast Asia. The dragon population is devastated.

• 580 BC
  • The Citadel Council is formed between the Asari, Salarians, and Turians.

• 500 BC
  • Rome is founded, eventually becoming one of the greatest empires in human history.

• 300 BC
  • A fellowship of the Vietnamese, Burmese, and Khmer peoples in Indochina led by the warrior princess Raya encounter the last dragon and defeat the Druun for good. The dragon population starts to rebound.

• 457 AD
  • Hua Mulan defends China from the Xiongnu Empire.

• 476 AD
  • Fall of the Roman Empire.

• 500 AD
  • Arthur Pendragon becomes King of the Britons. His adventures would become legendary.
  • King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table defend Britain from invaders, using Cybertronian technology gifted to them.

• 793 AD
  • Norse mythology intertwines with Yautja activity, inspiring Viking sagas.

• 10th Century
  • During the Long Pause, a Polynesian explorer named Moana runs into the demigod Maui and prevent an end-of-the-world scenario.

• 11th Century
  • Norse explorer Leif Erikson becomes the first European to set foot in North America. It is here that he receives the Calamity Box from Leif Plantar, unknowingly preventing an interdimensional invasion of Earth.
  • Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is founded in Scotland.

• 12th Century
  • The Assassin Order emerges, combating Templar influences.
  • Genghis Khan establishes the Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous empire in Earth’s history.
  • The Celestials visit Earth once again, further manipulating human evolution. This creates the mutant society of Attilan, its inhabitants called Inhumans.

• 13th Century
  • In the Mediterranean kingdom of Rosas, King Magnifico and Queen Amaya attempt to take control of all wishing magic for themselves, via imprisoning star spirits. They are defeated by their daughter, Princess Asha.

• 14th Century
  • The Renaissance begins in Italy, leading to an explosion of art, science, and culture.
  • The Order of Witchers is established to fight monsters across the Continent.
  • An English baron prepares to go fight for Edward III in France but encounters aliens scouting out Earth. The baron’s forces charge the aliens and take control of the spaceship. Intending to use it for transportation to France, things go wrong, and they end up crusading through space.
  • In France, Princess Aurora is cursed by the dark faerie Maleficent out of spite: before the sun sets on Aurora's sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. By that time, her betrothed Prince Philip encounters Maleficent who tries and fails to kill him, meeting her own end instead.

• 15th Century
  • Sakuradite (known as the "Philosopher's Stone" at the time) is discovered near Stonehenge. The scarcity of sakuradite impedes the research to turn it into a viable energy source. However, in his travels, Marco Polo journeys further into the East, reaching Japan and discovers the nation's large deposit of sakuradite.

• 1492
  • Columbus’ voyage leads to the discovery of the Americas.

• 1602
  • A new wave of settlers moves to the Roanoke colony. One of these settlers is Peter Parquah.

• 1666
  • The Great Fire of London—actually caused by a Terileptil weapon overloading in a bakery on Pudding Lane.

• 18th Century
  • The Age of Enlightenment begins, emphasizing reason, science, and human rights.
  • Early reports of alien encounters surface, largely ignored as folklore or superstition.

• 1772
  • British explorer James Cook became the first European to make contact with the tsalal of Antarctica. Tsalal technology of that time was comparable, if slightly inferior in some areas, to that of the Europeans. The Tsalal’s advanced knowledge of rocketry and turbine steam engines, created out of sheer survival, fascinated and alarmed European powers. These technologies, however, were initially misunderstood or deemed too dangerous to pursue fully, and it wasn't until much later that their true potential would be realized.

• 1776
  • The Thirteen Colonies declare independence from Britain, leading to the birth of the United States of America. British loyalists in the south flee to Cape Town.
  • Enhanced individuals begin to emerge, foreshadowing the rise of superheroes.

• 1782
  • The Crown Colony of Drakia is founded in honor of the privateer Sir Francis Drake. A surprising number of American loyalists and German mercenaries (mainly Hessians) gradually migrate to the colony between 1781 and 1786, followed by Icelanders fleeing volcanic eruptions in their country. At this time the Dutch-Afrikaner population is less than 9,000 and is soon assimilated through intermarriage. The descendants of the Boers would come to dominate the Drakan Navy in the future.

• 19th Century
  • Europe is plunged into chaos as Napoleon Bonaparte attempts to conquer the continent.
  • The Doctor begins to make intermittent visits to this era, influencing key historical events.

• 1801
  • The first steam-powered vehicle is created in Drakia.
  • 11,000 French royalists from Santo Domingo/Haiti flee to Drakia before they could be massacred. Many more conservative Royalist French also take refuge there during the Napoleonic Wars.

• 1810
  • British veterans and Napoleonic refugees immigrate to Drakia.

• 1816
  • Following the eruption of Mount Tambora, a massive Tsalal diaspora occurrs throughout the southern cone. With a deeply rooted collective memory of the disastrous Taupō eruption of 180 AD, the tsalal feel like the world was ending a second time — but this time they had somewhere to flee to. Waves of tsalal immigration fall heavily in Patagonia, and within a couple of generations, a handful of strong colonies, states, and city-states had formed. As the Tsalal expanded northward, conflicts with former Spanish colonies increased. The refugees also ended up conquering the South Island of Zealandia, and part of Western Australia. Attempts to escape to Africa ended with them being enslaved by the Drakians.

• 1820s
  • The Industrial Revolution begins to transform societies, leading to technological advances and urbanization.
  • Alchemists and scientists search for the secret of immortality, leading to the creation of the Elixir of Life.

• 1839
  • The Great Moon Hoax begins, secretly revealing the Selenites.

• 1850s
  • The first true metahumans appear, their abilities often kept secret from the general public.
  • Mann Co. is founded by Zepheniah Mann, growing into a dominant industrial giant. Soon after Zepheniah’s death, the Gravel Wars begin. His sons, Redmond and Blutarch, divide their inheritance, forming rival companies—RED and BLU. Their petty feud quickly spirals out of control as gravel, an unexpectedly valuable resource, becomes the basis of the conflict along with corporate greed and absurdity, as other Mann Co. subsidiaries seek to profit from the chaos.

• 1860s
  • Italy is unified into a single nation-state.
  • The United States is torn apart by civil war over issues including slavery and states' rights. President Abraham Lincoln, an avid vampire hunter, is nearly assasinated but survives.

• 1865
  • 150,000 Confederate refugees settle in the Dominion of Draka.
  • Captain Nemo’s Nautilus embarks on its first voyage.
  • The great detective Sherlock Holmes operates in Victorian London.

• 1870-1871
  • War breaks out between France and Prussia, leading to the unification of Germany.
  • Vampire activity in London increases, leading to confrontations with hunters like Abraham Van Helsing as well as Sherlock Holmes.

• 1879
  • Queen Victoria is nearly killed by a werewolf, but is saved by Allan Quartermain. Following this, she forms the Torchwood Institute to counteract any and all supernatural and extraterrestrial threats to the British Empire.

• 1886
  • JCJenson is founded in Liverpool, England.

• 1890s
  • The American frontier reaches its end as the West becomes more settled.
  • Early reports of Martian activity in the solar system are noted, though not fully understood.
  • First contact is made with between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Hallownest on Luna.

• 1900
  • The world stands on the brink of a new era, with rapid advances in technology, science, and global communication.
  • A huge fleet representing many of the combined ships and traders of the Tsalal nations is prepared to sail north against the British. Both in numbers and firepower, it is unprecedented for Tsalal history.
  • Nikola Tesla’s experiments uncover early evidence of Tiberium’s arrival.
