Remus
“Yes Regulus?” I huffed as I opened the bedroom door. It was dark and Sirius was very much unconscious, so when Reggie had actually managed to rattle the large door at such an hour I was worried.
“You must make an appearance sometime this month. It’s been a week and I haven’t seen either of you. I’ve only heard a rumor I presume to be false of Sirius interrupting a meeting littered in some marks.” He rested a hand on his hip.
“Certainly.” I smiled at the thought that people were talking about Sirius and I. “Just a rumor. Is that why you’re awake at an unholy hour?”
“Harry couldn’t sleep.” He lifted his son up from his hip to his chest. “James and Lily said it was my turn to tire him out. So I figured I would visit my brother.”
“Sirius is asleep.” I crossed my arms, leaning into the doorframe so he could see the ball which was his brother on my bed.
“I can see that. Is he at least breathing?” Regulus asked. Harry babbled something that seemed like an agreement.
“He’s breathing. I haven’t hurt him Reggie. I promise, your brother is being loved.” I gave a soft smile towards said lump.
“Good.” He bit his lip. “You remember when, I told you about those attempts, the rumors of them?”
“I do. Is everything okay Regulus?” I pulled myself off the doorframe and closed the door behind me. Regulus shook his head.
“Panic has begun to set in with the people of the kingdom. We need to head back within the week.” He admitted, holding his son a little closer.
“I’ll make sure you see Sirius before you leave. I do hope this threat doesn’t come true, that could lead to issues.” I sighed.
“I’m highly aware. It’s just, what if they do hurt Harry. Or Lily and James? What will I do?” I could see this was one of those rare moments Regulus showed emotions.
“They won’t and if they do I’ll make sure they fucking pay for hurting Sirius’s family, your family. Is this why you couldn’t sleep?” I rested a hand on the shoulder opposite Harry.
“Yes.” He nodded. I let out a heavier sigh and took my nephew out of his arms.
“Then you will write to us every chance you can. And if an emergency arises you must contact us at once.” I instructed.
“And what about Sirius?” He replied. That was a valid response, what about his brother.
“Let’s just hope he never has to know and then he won’t be constantly worried. You know how he was when he first moved in. He was bouncy and everything made him flinch. I don’t want to put that on him again.” I recommend.
“I agree. They never warn you that having a status is always so stressful.” He rubbed his nose bridge.
“At least the sex makes up for it.” I tried to joke as I handed him back his son.
“Merlin.” Reggie laughed. His face grew softer than the worried frown he had arrived with.
“I think the little one is tired, I recommend you also try to get some sleep.” I rubbed his arm a little.
“You as well Remus. Goodnight.” Regulus gave me a short wave before he was walking down the hallway away from my bedroom.
“Goodnight.” I bid him as well. I took a deep breath before I turned around and slipped back inside my bedroom.
