Teddy hadn’t stopped crying and was coming down with a horrible fever. I had lost my documents for the ball just the morning before and my maid had told me Sirius had vanished overnight when I really needed him as my son would not stop crying.
“It’s okay pup, papa’s here. Je suis là.” I whispered into his ear. I hadn’t stopped learning French for Teddy. Part of me wanted to prove to Sirius I didn’t need him to raise my son, the other one wanted to make him proud.
“Paddy?” He mumbled out as he cried. My heart twisted again and I sat down on the rocking chair outside of my bedroom. It was growing a bit colder as the winter season started to turn its little head.
“No pup, Paddy is not here.” I kissed his little nose and frowned at how warm he was. I raised a small cup to his lips and had him drink down a small healing potion that worked on colds for children.
“Paddy.” He said once he got done grimacing at the flavor of the potion. I hummed before looking out over the garden. I could see Sirius’s balcony a few feet away from mine, untouched as it had been since I yelled at him the first time. A horrible reminder.
“No pup, Papa. Not Paddy, Papa.” I corrected. Staff had begun to report to my castle over the last month, as I had highered more to make my life easier without Sirius. It hit me after he went away how much I had needed him. I was too angry and stubborn to apologize.
“Paddy!” He screamed before smacking my chest. I let out a tired whine before I looked back over to the empty balcony. I wondered if he was still inside his room, or even the castle.
“I miss him too pup.” I lemented. I had gone to apologize to him the day before, to even cheer him up with the plans of the ball, only to find them missing. Still set on my plan to apologize I was going to ask if he had seen anything, I failed. I regretted it.
Teddy calmed down finally and started to paw at my shirt. I hummed and pulled off all of my clothes from my torso so my son could have skin to skin contact. He clinged to me, happy to be with me.
“I love you, Rwyf wrth fy modd i chi gymaint ffycin fy blaidd bach.” I kissed his head and continued to look out upon the staff. No Sirius to be spotted, and it made me regret everything I had said to him.
Teddy eventually fell asleep on my chest and I slowly started to rock back and forth. I looked down over the part of my garden I had fenced off and decided I needed to start over with Sirius by simply changing my shitty little fence. It was a safety hazard.
