Sirius
I brought Teddy into the large library where my brother insisted I was to join them for breakfast. There I saw him and three other people who all looked rather happy to see me walk in. One was the King Consort, James, though I didn’t know who the other two were quite yet.
“Sirius! Oh it’s great to see you again buddy! Sorry I was so cold when we first met, long night and I was very tired. Hello Teddy Bear!” James quickly jumped to his feet and crossed the library to take the baby from me.
“It’s perfectly alright your highness. Thank you for inviting me to breakfast with you all.” I went to bow but a hand stopped me and instead I was guided to a chair next to the red headed woman.
“Please call me James or Prongs. Moony sure as hell does, and besides you’re my brother in law, that means titles are below us. Yeah?” He sat back down on the loveseat with my brother. I looked at the other two expectantly. The man was stout and blond with a green button up and black slacks. The red head was wearing a sundress while rubbing the back of a sleeping baby, he looked rather identical to my brothers husband.
“Of course, but see, I don’t have a title or name. I have no rank anymore so why should I be allowed to call you by anything other than your title? I’m not important.” I asked, biting my tongue hard enough I drew a bit of blood.
“You are my family, and I am king consort! What I say is, unless my husband or wife veto it. Their say as King and Queen trumps my say.” He looked at the redhead with love in his eyes. I paused for a moment before I looked between my brother and the woman.
“Sirius, once I married James we made a lot of new rules. Some about same sex marriage and others about marriage between more than two people. Once we did that, well we could marry our girlfriend. I know I told you when I got married it was planned, and it was. But my darling wife Lily here, she was the brains behind it all. Brilliant woman and witch she is.” Regulus leaned into his husband's side before he started to play with Teddy.
“So, all three of you are married? It’s legal to be, to want to date like that?” I stumbled on my words. Lily nodded simply before she stood up and swapped babies with James. Seeing the two next to each other I knew that boy was James’s and he was the prince I had only heard rumors about.
“This kingdom is very much not like how Walburga and Orion’s is. They rule with fear and tight leashes, we want people to know we rule for them, not power. Sirius, brother, is it too much to ask, how did they do it?” Regulus took the boy from his husband and sat him so he would be facing me.
“Found me sneaking in from meeting a suitor. Unlike with you, someone else didn’t catch us. They figured one of our cousins could have an heir to throw on the throne soon.” I took a deep breath, “Orion used crucio, an hour before I landed on your doorstep. Took a bit to aparate somewhere I’d never been before. Stripped me of my title and name, made me homeless again.” I started to wonder where breakfast was, much too excited to leave the conversation.
“Again? Sorry but they kicked you onto the street before? Sirius, love why?” Lily asked, her voice was sweet and motherly, but had an edge that screamed at me to try her.
“I had a friend named Marlene, was escorting her out of a ball to meet with her secret lover. Mother caught us, stripped me of everything and threw me to the streets. I couldn’t go anywhere so I stayed in the shadows alone for a few years. Until they found me and told me you were disowned and I was back in line.” I tried to explain, not wanting to anger the new supposed family I was being handed.
“You will never have to go through that again, Padfoot.” I jumped as Remus set his hand on my shoulder before he joined me on the seat. He looked more put together than that morning but I did miss the way he looked, and sounded. His voice had been deeper and his shirt was open, he was handsome and I was definitely looking.
“Thank you Remus.” I smiled as he draped his arm behind me and pulled me into a small hug where I was able to curl my legs behind myself and tuck myself into his side. He hummed before looking at Lily to see Teddy.
“I see you’ve met your nephew, adorable isn’t he?” Remus murmured against my head as he rested his chin in my hair. I let out a shocked sound and looked at Regulus, James, and Lily. Reality hit, the Prince was my nephew, I had a nephew.
“He’s related to me? That one, that one that looks like the deer in headlights spawn. Is related to me?” I squeeked. Everyone but James laughed and the dark skinned man simply blushed as he looked down at his son.
“Oh no darling by blood that’s all James, I swear he did the least work and got the greatest reward. But legally, that’s also Regulus’s baby boy. His name is Harry, Harry James Potter.” Lily smiled at her husbands and son.
“Yes and somehow he’s far more handsome than his father, pray he gets that from his mother.” Remus joked. I felt myself relaxing as the four of them fell into a gentle bicker. I looked at the silent blond across from me and saw he wasn’t paying the group any mind as he was buried deep into a book.
“Right okay, Pete I need you to settle this. Am I hot?” James called out and the blond man looked up from his book. He gave a small smile before shaking his head to say no. “Foul man, you are Wormy.”
“See, and we all know what Wormtail likes, you’re losing this one Prongs.” Remus laughed, like a genuine laugh. I was more shocked by that than the whole situation. I looked up at him in awe, his eyes landed on me and he just smiled.
“Okay Sirius, settle this for us please. Is my husband attractive and did that gene pass on to our son.” Regulus asked. I sized up the king consort before deciding I wanted to mess with Remus a little.
“Oh Harry one hundred percent gets his adorable good looks from his father. Same as Teddy, their genes are just that good.” I hummed in content. Remus made this odd sound and I looked back at the Duke. He looked a little flushed and his grip on my shoulder tightened.
“You know Teddy is a Metamorphmagus? He can change how he looks, he doesn’t have control over it, but his natural hair color is bright blue. Have you ever seen it before?” James asked while Regulus brushed his hand over the boy's hair. Teddy laughed before his curly brownish blond hair turned midnight black.
“I think once, I assumed it was lighting, he did that with his hair yeah. But as I’ve been telling this one here, he’s a special boy who loves his papa.” I rested my hand on Remus’s thigh and gave him a small reassuring squeeze. He in turn tugged me in a little closer.
“We think it’s his way of mimicking us to tell us he loves us.” Regulus stood and I took Teddy from him. The boy's hair stayed black but this time his eyes became a bright silver I knew perfectly well. I nudged Remus to look while keeping my eyes on the little boy.
“Yeah he loves his Paddy alright. Look at him.” Remus hummed. I saw his hand come out and he let the boy grab one of his fingers so that he could play with his father. One of his eyes became green with gold.
“Nope, definitely loves his papa more.” I laughed. The group fell into an easy joyful rhythm, James and Remus bickered, I got to talk to Lily and my brother, and Peter joined in when he wanted. It was nice knowing I wasn’t all alone in the world this time around.
