Are you fucking serious
Remus was sitting on his bed at Hogwarts, waiting for his friends to return from their day of mischief. He had opted out of their adventures, feeling exhausted from the previous night's full moon.
Suddenly, James burst through the door, his voice booming. "Are you fucking serious?" Remus's jaw dropped as he locked eyes with his best friend. How had James figured out that he and Sirius are together? They had been so careful to keep it a secret until they knew for sure what this was between them.
"Listen, I can explain," Remus said, trying to stay calm as he rose from the bed. "It's more than just sex. I’m sorry we didn’t tell you it’s just-" but Remus was cut off by James continued rambling.
"How could she, I mean I know—" James stammered, shaking his head in confusion. "Hold on. What?"
"Wait! What are you talking about?" Remus asked, feeling his face heat up.
Just then Sirius came running int to room clearly out of breath "Prong, come on, it’s just a study date, and you two are—" Sirius entered the room and immediately sensed the tension. "What’s going on?" Sirius asked, glancing between James and Remus.
"I think Mooney is getting some action," James chuckled, turning to Sirius. "I walked in, and he was going on about it being more than just sex."
Sirius looked from James to Remus, unsure of how to respond. Thankfully, he was quick on his feet and knew how to redirect James's attention.
"Well, congratulations, Moony! But now's not the time; James just found out that Evans is dating a sixth-year Hufflepuff." Remus quickly caught on to Sirius's strategy.
"Oh man, that’s rough. Let’s talk about it," he said, thankful for Sirius amazing brain.
The three friends spent the next couple of hours discussing Lily and her new boyfriend, with James completely oblivious to the earlier conversation. Peter soon returned with news about the study date he had been eavesdropping on.
---
It was 2 AM in the boys' common room. James lay wide awake, gazing at the wooden bed frame above him, while a small snitch he had stolen, flitted around the curtains, searching for a way out. His mind replayed the entire encounter with Lily, how she had abandoned him for a Hufflepuff, and the anger that bubbled inside him. His brain walked though the whole ordeal until he had got back to the dorm room, he then latched onto Remus response, what had he been on about?
"Are you fucking serious!" he mumbled repeatedly, until the tone shifted.
"Are you, fucking serious!" he said again.
"Are you, fucking, serious?" This time, it sounded more like a question. He muttered it under his breath, contemplating Remus's response.
"It's more than just sex," James whispered. "Why would I care if Remus was getting laid? Why would he be serious? We already have a Sirius."
Then it hit him.
"Unless he’s fucking Sirius Black!" James yelled, yanking back his curtains. The outburst startled everyone awake, and he dashed over to the werewolf's bed, only to find it empty. Turning around, he spotted Remus peeking out from behind Sirius's curtains.
"Remus, are you sleeping with Sirius?" James asked, and Remus simply nodded, his gaze fixed on the floor. Just then, Sirius emerged, stretching and yawning as he made his way to the bathroom. Scratch marks were visible on his bare back, and Remus blushed as he noticed James's wide-eyed stare. James stood there, mouth agape, glancing between the bathroom door and a sheepish-looking Remus.
James stammered, "But—wait—what—when, where, how, why?" Sirius quickly flushed the chain and opened the door.
"Yes, Remus and I are together. It started five months ago, the morning after a bad full moon we was in the Shrieking Shack, Remus had a rough night, and I stayed by his side until he woke up. When he did, I couldn't help but kiss him because I love him. Now, we're heading back to bed. If you have any more Eureka moments, please save them till the morning."
James stood there for a moment, processing everything, his mind racing as he made his way back to bed just before getting in he stopped turning back to Sirius bed. "Mooney," he called out. Remus and Sirius peeked around the curtains. "Take care of my brother's heart; he doesn't give it to just anyone," James said before getting into bed and pulled the curtains shut.
"What was that?" Remus asked, settling back into Sirius's arms.
"You just got my family's blessing," Sirius murmured, kissing Remus again before drifting off to sleep, feeling happier than he ever thought possible.
