This is something new
James had a perfect life, even if he said so himself. He lived with his four best mates in a pretty cool house. His job was entertaining, he was healthy (so were his friends and family), and his parents lived close by.
The only thing that he missed, if you listened to his mother, was his love life. Sure, he hadn't had the best love life, but it wasn't like he needed it. He had Sirius and Remus secretly pining over each other, and that was entertaining enough.
They had liked each other for as long as James can remember, but they're both too stubborn to think that the other likes them and to make a move, so here is James laughing his ass off with Peter if one of the two blushes about something the other does or says. Really, it's pathetic. Pete and him even made a ship name: Wolfstar and although it took long to create there now very satisfied with it.
It is a shame, tho, that Sirius still goes on thousands of dates with other people, even if he's always complaining to James that Remus doesn't make a move on him. So, all this dating means that Remus doesn't think Sirius likes him.
Tonight was one of the nights that Sirius went on a date with a girl he met through a friend of a friend, as he called it. He came out dressed up nicely, and James could see Remus staring very hard into his book. "*You think this is alright?"* Sirius asked. "*You look great, mate!"* As James patted his back. Luckily, he didn't ask Remus. "*I'm actually looking forward to this date. We texted a bit already, and she seems great!"* Remus gritted his teeth, not that Sirius noticed. "*And very pretty, I might add, but anyway I gotta go! See you soon lads!"* As he waved and went through the door. Remus sank his head.

A few hours later James was still awake even though it was 1 a.m. Sirius still hadn't returned, normally he would text James about the date by this time, so James was a bit concerned. Luckily, a few minutes he came walking in with a big smile on his face while having an arm around a girl.
James had the lights off because he was watching a movie, so as soon as Sirius put on the light James could see the girl and she was the most beautiful girl James had ever seen. She had long red hair and freckles all over her face. Her eyes shined in the light, while she was laughing about something Sirius had said. Her dress fitted her body perfectly and James couldn't stop staring at the girl. "*James you're still awake! This is Lily my date! Lily this is James my best friend and brother."* James shook her hand blushing a bit as a hand went up to his hair. She had soft hands which fitted his hand perfectly he might add and her name was beautiful.
*Lily, Lily it repeated in his head.*
But then another thought crossed James mind. Sirius never invited a girl to their house. Maybe in the early phases of dating, but he hasn't brought a girl home for atleast 3 years. So that meant that Sirius actually liked her. As his smile faded a bit (not that they would notice) Lily spoke:*” I’m a friend of Mary’s who is best friends with Marlene.”* Marlene is one of James’ best friends, but she’s also very close to Sirius, Peter and Remus. *“Well you can say that both Mary and Marlene have excellent taste in friends.”* Sirius said and Lily laughed a bit. Which made James jealous, but he immediatelt cursed himself in his head. He was jealous of Sirius, his brother and best friend over a girl he’d never met. His thoughts were interrupted by Sirius who said: *“Should I give you a house tour?”* Lily nodded politely with a small smirk on her lips. Sirius waved at him and as they turned around James could see Sirius hand on the lower back of her dress.
He went to his own bedroom, but he wasn’t able to sleep thinking about what Sirius and Lily might be doing in the other room. So he stood up early at 7AM making some coffee when Lily came out of Sirius room. She didn’t looked that chaotic. She’d looked very good to good James thought and then she noticed him. Her smile made James breathe cought in his throat. *“Goodmorning.”* Her voice said gently. *“Goodmorning, want some coffee?”* He tried to remain calm and one of the main things that helped was that she was wearing one of Sirius’ T-shirts reminding him that his brother was with her.
Just as he was about to make coffee Remus popped out of the room, but he hadn’t notice Lily yet. *“James could you please make some coffee for me too?”* James who was trying to imagine how Remus would react if he knew Sirius brought the girl he went on a date with home to their house. Remus eyes slowly landed on Lily. His eyes flicked between the two of them confused and a bit amused. Lily stepped up to him and shook his hand just like she did yesterday to him. *“You must me Remus. I’m Lily.” “Nice to meet you.”* But before Remus could say anything else Sirius came out of the room with barely any clothes on and James could see Remus blush appear. Great Lily and Sirius slept like this together, but he needed to push that thought away. *“Sirius show some decency and put on some more clothes.”* He said at which Sirius put on a childish frown, but went back into his room.
“I’m so sorry for him.” Remus said to Lily as soon as Sirius went into his room. “Nah, it’s fine. Could’ve expected it when Mary put me on a date, although he has been the best one so far. There were a lot of creepy and weird dudes.” Lily explained and James could see Remus face change when she said the word date, but he picked it up as soon as he noticed. “Oh you’re the one Sirius went on a date with. Sorry!” Remus made it awkward and he also clearly was disappointed, but Lily didn’t seem to notice or care. “No it’s alright. I get it. Strange way for a first meeting right? Plus it’s early in the morning and we both didn’t have coffee yet.” As she turned to James who immediately went to the coffee pot as he heard Lily let out a small laugh.
James returned with coffee the same time Sirius got out of the room. His hair was neatly combed and James felt jealousy again. He was never jealous of Sirius hair. He’d actually really was fond of it, but thinking about how Lily might love it while his hair was like a birdnest made him a bit irritated of his brother. “*How about we get some breakfast, flower?*” Sirius said to Lily. “*Don’t call me that. You know I don’t like it.*” She said with a though voice which Sirius grinned at. “*Sorry, but breakfast?*” “*Okay, but I do need to grab some better clothes.*” As she pointed towards what she was wearing. “*I don’t see anything wrong except that I maybe have to fight of thousands of men.*” She rolled her eyes with a small smirk as she gave him a kiss on his cheek and walked to his room. While she was in his room Sirius looked at Remus and Sirius with a big smile and pointed towards the door with his brows up as to say look what I scored and he went into his room.
As Sirius and Lily left for lunch with Lily saying goodbye to the both of them. Remus and James sat in silence eating their breakfast until Remus said:” I’m screwed. She’d literally perfect and they both clearly like each other and there’s no way I’m gonna come between them.” He sounded panicked and James didn’t really know what to do.
