Meetings
Sirius's POV.
Matron led the three out of the room, down the all and into a room that looked like it was from a horror game simulator with all the dull coloured toys and no windows and dust.
There was a strange smell in the air through out the whole building, but Sirius tried not to think about it to much.
"I'll give you an hour." Matron said, closing the door behind her. Sirius got a strange sense of Deja vu as memories flashed behind his eyes of his mother throwing him into his equally dark and dull childhood bedroom, locking him in for weeks with no food. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and turn to see the small girl had gone over to the back of the room where a small box wicker stood.
"I'll say one thing," Remus said picking up a teddy with a missing arm, "The toy's haven't changed in twenty seven years."
Maisy, who had been holding a doll she'd picked out of the toy box, quickly throw it away, sticking out her tongue in a silent gag as she wiped her hands on her dress.
"So, you wanna talk or read or hang out?" Remus asked. The girl blinked as though she'd never expected to be asked the question.
"Talk." She said, her voice was scarily close to Regulus's younger voice, before he started taking Testosterone.
"Alright. What do you wanna talk about?"
"Can I ask you questions?" She asked looking between Sirius and Remus.
"Of course," They said in unison. She smiled, the smile warmed Sirius's heart.
"Siblings or dating?"
Sirius burst out laughing and clutched his stomach and Remus chuckled lightly beside him, Maisy smiled and dipped her head.
"Dating." Remus conformed, "And before you say anything, you can absolutely reject us for it. This works both ways, were not gonna take you if you don't wanna go. I totally understand not wanting to live with two gay men."
Sirius stood up, he'd never considered that. Shit, what if she didn't want them?
"I don't mind." The girl said, "I'm not sure if I want to live with a woman. I know that sounds weird because I'm a girl but I..." She trailed off and looked down,
"Matron traumatised you?" Remus asked with a smile,
"Yeah, and my real Mum."
"I think that's why I'm gay," Remus said, spent my whole life living in an all boys home, went to boarding school and shared a dorm with all boys and Matron didn't exactly give the women a good name."
Maisy and Sirius both laughed.
"Your mum?" Sirius said, then remembering he probably shouldn't ask stuff like that on the first meet he quickly said, "My mum was a dick - I mean a..." He scratched his head trailing off and looking at Remus for help but it was no use, Maisy had heard him and was now laughing just like he'd been a couple moments before.
"I don't mind about swear words. My dorm mates say them all the time."
"Oh."
"Yeah, they've got some mouths on them those care kids."
Maisy laughed and turned to Sirius, "Were you in care?"
"No, but I got adopted." Maisy frowned so he continued, "My mum was really bad so I ran away and my friends parents adopted me."
"Wait, officially?" Remus asked,
"Well, they were my legal guardians but I don't think my mum ever signed any papers so it can't have been official."
"And you? Did you ever got adopted?" Maisy turned to Remus,
"Nah, didn't really want to. No one wanted a werewolf." Maisy flinched at the name, "Nothing to be ashamed of," Remus said casually, "Not your fault."
Sirius tried not to scoff. Take your own advice Moony. He thought.
Maisy blushed, "How long have you been a werewolf?" She asked Remus,
"Since I was five."
"I've been one since I was three."
"That's awful."
"Do you know who bit you?"
"Greyback, Fenrir Greyback. You?"
Maisy looked down at the floor, "My uncle. I don't remember his name because my parents cut him off."
"How did you end up in care?" Remus asked
"I nearly bit my little brother by accident when I got out one moon and my mum had enough of my I guess. I hated her though so I didn't fight her."
"What was your mums name?" Sirius wondered
"Louisa Abbott."
"Ministry worker?" He said it more to himself, he knew she was a ministry worker. Very high class one at that. Worked alongside Lucius. Maisy's eye's widened,
"Your magic people?" She whispered,
"Yeah." Remus said.
***
Maisy's POV.
If these people didn't adopt her, Maisy was sure she would burst. They were perfect for her and she knew she could be perfect for them, she'd do anything to be the one they wanted.
They left after an hour with Matron saying she'd email them later that night before the hurried Maisy off to the dinning hall for dinner.
"So, you got a meeting them Mase?" Asked Marigold when they got back to their dorm. Mari was one of the only kids she actually liked. There was one boy but she couldn't say she liked him rather than respected him. He was quiet and never got in bother.
"Yeah, Remus and Sirius are their names."
"Bit odd names, innit?" Mari spoke like most of the boys. She often got teased for it by the girls who were all taught by the St. Agnus Matron to speak properly. Mari had been raised by her brother on the streets of Scotland yet they'd been kicked out of al of the Scottish homes, that's why she spoke the way she did, with her strong Scottish accent mixed with the English slang she'd developed from the boys she hung around with along side her brother. Her brother stayed in the St Edmund wings. His name was Logan. Maisy didn't like him much, he was always starting fights.
"Yes I suppose." Maisy shuffled up to sit by the pillows on the bed pulling her night gown over her knees that she drew up to her chest as Marigold came to sit on the end of her bed. They had thirty minutes of talking before everyone was expected to read for an hour, then lights out. They usually got more than half an hour because the Matrons were so busy with all the fights the boys started during this time and couldn't come to tell the girls it was reading time.
"Like 'em?"
"What?"
"D' ya like 'em? Wanna get adopit by 'em?"
"Yeah, I think they're perfect for me."
"'Ow come?"
"Well one of them, Sirius, apparently his mum was like mine."
"Hit 'im 'n all?"
"Yes! And Remus, the other one, he went here. This very building!" She pointed to the ground to emphasise her point, "But it was back when it was an all boy's school."
"Actual?"
"Yes! Isn't that so cool! And, they're gay so I won't have to be around women like mum. I was really worried about being adopted because I'd have to live with them but-"
"Hold up, Maisy, did you just say the adopters you saw today were gay?" Saydi, the oldest girl in their dorm, butt in.
"Yes."
Saydi turned to her friends and sniggered that's when Luna stood up,
"Shut yer puss Saydi, yer a wee cunt, ye ken that aye? Why d'ye give a shiet who some-day loves? It ain't none 'o yer business, so ye just shut it and keep oot. At least the wanit tae see Maisy, yer never gon' get adop't."
When Marigold spoke in her strong Scottish accent no one tried to argue. She'd often told Maisy that she didn't like the stereotype the Scottish people were always angry but the way she acted she wasn't helping to deny it.
"It's fine Mari. Sit down, please." Mari did, reluctantly not taking her eyes off Saydi until she had entered the bathroom.
"That's well cool though maze." She said smiling again, "If you get adop'it will ya write tae me?"
"Of course I will, Goldie!" Mari grinned, "But I don't know if I will get adopted."
"Ye will Maze, ain't nae way they gonna pass ye up. Yer tae gid."
"Thanks, Gold."
"READING GIRLS!" Matron shouted from the bottom of the stairs and Mari slid off Maisy's bed and went over to her own.
