At Hogwarts

Putting up with your dad for a year without Draco, you can say it was hard. The consolation was when Draco came for Christmas break and you could lie next to him and talk for hours.

“Harry Potter is an idiot, Y/N...seriously, he'd rather hang out with that Weasley scum than someone important like me.”

“What's wrong with the Weasleys, bro?” you asked innocently. He shook his head.

“They're blood traitors...”

You felt like your brother was already just repeating and repeating what your dad and his Slytherin mates were saying, but you ignored him anyway.

The big day had arrived, you were going to Hogwarts, you watched the train excitedly with your brother and turned one last time to say goodbye to your mom.

“My girl, I'm sure you'll have a great time my baby...” You hugged your mom with a nod. You looked at daddy with a serious look on your face.

“Bring pride to your family.” Were his only words to you, before turning to tell Draco something else.

“Come on...” Draco pulled you into the train, where he led you to a specific carriage. Before you got to that carriage you saw those two threads tangled around your pinky start to appear and glow, you panicked and covered them with your long robe that your mother had bought.

Draco took you to his friends' carriage. You met a pretty but not very nice girl named Pansy, who just looked you up and down, two other boys who Draco said you didn't need to know their names and a nice boy named Blaise, who included you in the conversation and told you not to be nervous, that everything would be fine.

When you arrived at the castle, you looked around nervously and you were called to go aside with the first years. You said goodbye to Draco who hugged you and went with them, where you began to explain a couple of things. You played with your fingers without paying attention until a red-haired girl bumped into you.

“I'm sorry...” You apologized and watched yourself as you trembled. “Are you okay?” you asked nervously.

“I'm nervous...I'm afraid I won't be in Gryffindor like the rest of my siblings.”

“Oh... I guess I feel the same way. I should be in Slytherin so my dad will be happy.” You replied, they both looked at each other before laughing.

“I'm Ginny Weasley, nice to meet you.” The sweet girl smiled in your direction, extending her hand which you reciprocated. Weasley... the last name rang a bell.

“I'm Y/N Malfoy.” The girl's grimace was exaggerated at hearing your last name and you felt a little uncomfortable.

“Malfoy? As in MALFOY?”

“Uh.. yes.”

“I wasn't expecting that, my brothers say Draco Malfoy is mean and unbearable.” You laughed a little guiltily at teasing your brother.

“Girls, walk. We should go to the main dining hall...” Scolded a teacher you remembered as Professor McGonagall. You both nodded and walked amidst nervous giggles.

You nervously watched the sorting hat and then saw your brother at one of the tables, who just nodded at the sight of you. You thought about what would happen to you if you didn't end up in Slytherin...

“Ginny Weasley.” You cheered for your new friend. “GRYFFINDOR!” You clapped happily and she gave you the same look, you didn't know her siblings but you guessed they would be happy just the same.

When it was your turn, you could just shiver. “Y/N Malfoy.”

You shakily walked over and sat down in that chair. “Please in Slytherin, in Slytherin, in Slytherin, in Slytheri..” You whispered under your breath as you felt the hat on your head.

“Unbelievable! Bravery, kindness...and that something on your pinky. Are you sure you're a Malfoy? GRYFFINDOR!” you looked at the teacher in terror as the Gryffindor table erupted in applause. You shook your head and turned to the teacher.

“There must be some mistake...”

“It isn't. The hat takes your best qualities..” He looked at me pityingly, as if he guessed what my concern was.

I refused to look at my brother's table as I walked to the Gryffindor table, I felt my hands shaking and could only sit next to Ginny, who looked at me worriedly.

“You're shaking...” Ginny said.

“Wow. Are you really Malfoy? A Malfoy in Gryffindor, is this crazy...”

“Or something like that?” two really similar voices chimed in. One complementing the other's sentence. You turned your head to notice two redheads who seemed particularly very interested in you.

“Hey. Yeah, I'm a Malfoy.”

“Just so you know your brother is giving you a tremendously bad look, huh” One of them replied mockingly. You ducked your head.

Perhaps if your mother had bought your proper size tunic, you would have been able to see at that moment how the two strands of your pinky sparkled with incredible intensity.
