Missing Puzzle Piece

The return drive to Stray Base, was fairly quiet between them.

That was, until Jisung leaned between the front seats. He plucked the speaker to the radio up, as he turned the radio on. He didn't spare Minho a glance at the moment. Watching to ensure the radio was in fact, working. Satisfied it was, Jisung pressed the call button. And proceeded to call, "Runners to Stray Base, copy?" When he only got static, he frowned. Waiting. After a few more moments, he tried a second time, "Runners to Stray Base, do you copy?" He frowned even more, as nothing but static came through. Hyunjin huffed, but didn't say anything as of yet. Preferring to keep an eye on where they were going. And out, for anything new between where they'd found Felix and Stray Base. Jisung tried a third and final time, "Runners to Stray Base. Do you copy?"

Static came again, before the frequency was picked up. And a familiar voice rang through, "Stray Base copies, runners."

Jisung smirked, "We're headed back to base. We also found a survivor. Have the doctor ready to receive them."

The reply came as swiftly, "Copy. We wait for your reports. Stray Base out."

As the radio cut off, Jisung hung the speaker back up. He sat back, and turned to Felix, "When we get to Stray Base, we'll all be heading to our resident doctor. He'll take a look at you, and your ankle." He spoke softly, "You're worryingly skinny. He's just going to see how bad it is. And put you on a diet to try and get some more meat on your bones. Not for zombies, though. I assure."

Felix nodded at this, "I think that would be fine. But I hope you all understand, I'm this way mostly due to winter. I don't understand Korean. You're sort of the first ones I came across I know of, that can speak any English. I met a few, but they clearly didn't understand me. Now that I have you, I can finally learn."

Jisung nodded, "Of course. And then after that, you'll be meeting our alphas that run the place. Normally we give new wolves a chance to settle in and decompress. I think we can make an exception in this case."

Felix nodded once more, "I understand."

Jisung winked, "Trust me, you will be glad for this break in protocol." He then shrugged, "After that, I am not sure. You'll still be given a few days to figure out how you want to try and help the base succeed. For however long it's meant to. Plus, it will also depend on what the doctor says. You'll probably be on bed rest until your ankle improves. I doubt it will be too terribly long. It's just a sprain. But given the circumstances, it could be a longer healing process than before. We'll see."

Felix sighed, relaxing, "That would give me plenty of time to decide how I'll help."

Jisung nodded in agreement with this, "I'm glad. I'm not sure where we'll house you. I guess it depends on the alphas."

Felix bit his bottom lip, but didn't say anything yet. Probably unsure what to say. Which was fine. As they were rather quick to return to their base. After parking at the pack house and disembarking, they all made their way to Seungmin's medical facility. Jisung still being Felix's crutch. Even as Minho clenched his jaw. Trying to remind himself Felix needed help getting around a bit. And that Jisung was the only one between the four of them, that knew English. He hoped he could get over this soon.

He couldn't be envious over another male omega.

He couldn't.

//

Upon entering the medical facility, Jisung gently helped Felix up onto a medical cot.

He spoke calmly, "I'll help you strip down. Just your shirt and trousers. And shoes. He likes a thorough examination." He shook his head, "Won't ask to see anything beyond that." He nodded, gesturing to Minho. The only other male omega with them. Already stripping down to just his underwear. With a nod, Felix let Jisung help him strip as well. Even as Seungmin finally entered from where he was likely checking up on Junyoung. Jisung smirked at him, "Got you new meat."

Seungmin rolled his eyes at that, "Please refrain from calling them all that."

Jisung shrugged, "Why not? As far as beyond here goes, he is. As I am still fresh meat." Seungmin hummed, unamused. Jisung then nodded, "I also brought your alpha back. Just as I promised."

Seungmin took in his tail waging alpha, that was clearly happy to see him again. He smiled fondly, "So you did, thank you."

Jisung spoke, "Now, Felix here cannot understand Korean in the slightest. But with us, we'll learn. I know he's skinny. I asked him earlier. Said that being in a foreign land, he struggled all winter. Likely uncertain what was food, and not. Or even, worth eating. He also had a small trip fleeing from sprinter zombies. Our lovely new zombie variants. Twisted his ankle. I doubt it's broken. Just sprained. But, I'm not the medical expert here."

Seungmin smirked, "I doubt it is broken as well. Takes more than a trip and fall like that, to break an ankle. Regardless of the physical health of the individual. Unless they have like, brittle bone disease. Which I doubt he does." Jisung nodded, as Seungmin first came to Minho. Checking him from head to toe. Back to front. With a satisfied nod, he probed his questions. Before letting him get dressed. Then the same with Hyunjin. And lastly, his alpha. Finally, he approached Jisung for his turn. Once Jisung was dressed as well, Seungmin turned to him, "Alright Felix, let's take a look at you."

Felix watched Jisung, who nodded it was alright. Felix let Seungmin gently examine him. Including his clearly very hungry form. He wasn't starving, but he was severely malnourished. And even, a lot dehydrated. After putting the information down, Seungmin knelt to examine his ankle. As Felix watched, he looked to Jisung and inquired, "Would you believe me, if I told you I know you all are my pack?"

Jisung smirked, "I would. Omegas know faster than anyone." He turned and spoke for the other four to hear in Korean, "Felix has graciously informed me, he recognizes us as pack."

Hyunjin blinked in surprise at this, "Really?"

Jisung nodded. Minho's mind went elsewhere, a moment. Panicking. If Felix was part of the pack, he'd be close with Jisung. And, they could speak English! Seungmin spoke, "Well, then it's a good thing you all found him and saved him."

Jisung nodded, then looked to Minho, "Perhaps you can room with him, Minho. You're both male omegas. Might make him feel safer." He shook his head, "I'd let him house with me. But, I think he'd be better off in the pack house."

Minho nodded slowly, uncertain how to feel. While this meant Jisung and Felix weren't going to be close much, he wasn't sure how he felt about the fact Felix had access to Jisung as packmate. He really should let his jealousy go. There was no way Jisung wanted Felix. Or vice versa. They were pack only. And besides, Jisung was just helping. He wasn't making it obvious he wanted Felix as more than just pack. After shaking himself a moment, he replied, "Of course."

Jisung nodded, "Give him time to learn the language. Maybe help him a little. He could help you with a little English as well. Though, I'm sure Chan will do the vast majority of his education. Given they're so alike." He smirked, winking, "But now, you're not alone. You have a fellow male omega pack member."

Minho nodded slowly at this, "I'm glad about this."

Jisung smiled as Seungmin stood, "Alright, Jisung. Please tell Felix my rules. He's to keep his ankle elevated for a week. So he's bedridden until then. And I have him on a diet of oat meals and soups. Just to make sure his stomach holds it down. When I think he can handle solids, I will inform him."

Jisung nodded, and turned to Felix to inform him. Felix agreed to his orders, before Jisung gently helped him off the cot, "You'll be rooming with Minho." He nodded to the older omega, "Thought you'd feel safer with him. Now, let's go meet the alphas." He winked, smirking. He knew a little secret, and wasn't telling Felix, "They'll be happy to meet you, promise. Especially as they're pack as well."

Felix nodded, following as they made their way into the pack house. As they walked, Hyunjin hissed, "Are you jealous, Minho? Of Felix?"

Minho huffed, "No."

Hyunjin hummed, unconvinced.

Once they entered, they headed for Chan and Changbin.

//

As they stood in the command center of their base and pack home, Chan raised an eyebrow at the new male omega leaning on Jisung for support.

Jisung gave a mischievous grin, "I know it's not the standard protocol you have, but I hope you'll make the exception."

Chan sighed, nodding, "Very well. For starts, report."

Each gave their report, even Seungmin. Especially at the new wolf's health status. Finally, Chan looked to Jisung, "You look like the wolf that played a devilish trick. What?"

Jisung smirked, and gave his report as well. Until he finally got to Felix. He gestured towards Felix, "And as you know, that's where we picked up this stray wolf. The others couldn't understand him, because he speaks English."

Chan nodded, "So we've been informed."

Jisung finally changed dialect to pure English, "Well Chan, mate. I think you'll like this next part. Felix here is our packmate. I thought we'd room him with Minho. Given both are male omegas." Chan raised an eyebrow, before Jisung winked, "And, he's from Australia."

Chan's eyes went comically wide. He leaned forward, hands coming to the desk top, "You're from Australia?!"

Felix blinked, watching him. Having been unsure why Jisung was doing this. Before he nodded, "Uh, yeah."

Chan perked, showing great excitement, "By the gods, where from? I'm from Sydney."

Felix's jaw dropped at that, "Y-You? You're from Australia too?"

Chan nodded, "Yeah. It's been a long ass time since I heard or spoken with anyone from home."

Felix at this, finally grinned, "You said Sydney. I am too."

Chan sat back, hands going to his mane of black, "This is unbelievable."

Jisung snorted, "Worth the surprise. If you'd be so kind, help teach him Korean. Needs it bad. Seungmin's orders are as you know. So you'll have plenty of time."

Chan nodded, "Yeah, yeah. That's fine." He shook his head, clearing his throat and sitting as mature as he could. Even if there was still joy and excitement in his eyes, "We'll have to talk more, later."

Felix nodded at that, "It would be nice. Tales from home. As well as learning Korean."

Chan nodded, even as Jisung winked to Changbin, "Lixie here is from Sydney, Australia. Hence Chan's excitement."

Changbin nodded, even as realization came to his face. He was happy Chan had a taste of home again. Jisung cleared his throat, "Hate to break up the joy between you two, but Felix really should lay down. And I need to get back to monitoring the radio."

Chan nodded, "Of course."

Jisung smirked, before he gently pulled Felix along towards Minho, "I think Chan's happy."

Minho snorted, "You think?"

Jisung gently handed Felix to Minho, "He should really be off his ankle. Chan will be talking with him a lot. I have to get back to monitoring the radio." He turned to Hyunjin, "While I am glad to have gone on this run, I'm not exactly settled again. I'll be joining the runners for the next few missions."

Hyunjin nodded in agreement, "Works for me. And, thank you for letting me know."

Jisung nodded, ensuring Minho had Felix. He did frown, feeling how thin Felix was. And light. Jisung turned to Felix, "Minho here will take care of you. Just rest and elevate your ankle. And, welcome to Stray Base."

Felix smirked at him, "Thank you. And, I am glad you introduced me to Chan." He blushed softly, and whispered so hopefully Chan didn't overhear yet, "Thank you, for bringing me to my alpha."

Jisung pointed at him, "Absolute shocker." Felix smirked, appreciating Jisung's humor and sarcasm. Jisung returned to Korean, "Looks like our head alpha's got his pretty omega at last."

A wave of relief crashed through Minho at that. If Felix was going to be with Chan, then he wouldn't be hanging on Jisung so much. He had to still remind himself, Felix was only hanging on until his ankle improved. As the others drifted off to their own corners, Jisung returned to the radio. As he sat, he started, "So. About Felix, Chan."

Chan sighed, "I'm not going to jump him, until we're both satisfied. At least the pack is complete. Now, we just have to become mates. You and Minho. Innie and Minnie. Me and Felix." He smirked, "Bin and Jin."

Changbin blushed, even as Jisung shrugged, "At the pace of the gods. I should also inform you, I'll be going on a few more runner missions. I'm still feeling itchy and caged. This feeling will persist for a while. But once I am feeling calm again, I'll let you know."

Chan nodded, "Fair enough for me. Thank you for letting me know."

Jisung then pointed out, "I already informed Hyunjin."

Chan nodded once again, "Good."

With that, Jisung returned to monitoring the radio.
