Direction to Head In
His black claw pointed to a very small dot on the map, on the desk before them, "We are here, just outside Chonju."
Changbin nodded, leaning closer to read it as well, "I suggest we make for the coast. Fishing will become a necessity to keep from going hungry. Eventually, the supplies we can obtain will be gathered up. Would be nice to grow our own crops as well. But we'll cross that bridge once we get to it."
Chan nodded, "I agree. How far down the Yellow Sea coast should we go, though?"
Changbin hummed.
He gently turned the map around to better see it, and looked at all the available locations they could head for. Knowing it would be a long walk there. But it would be worth it. Unless Chan were willing enough to hotwire one of the military vehicles to get them there faster. But, would Chan even consider taking such a risk? From what very little he knew of Chan's father, his father was very strict. And may even tell him never to take such mindless risks. But Chan wasn't his father. He would be a great leader, for sure. But he had to decide what was best in their current situation. Besides, Mr. Bahng hadn't been properly trained for the zombie apocalypse. Chan had through movies and tv shows.
After a few, he spoke, "I suppose it depends how far you want to go, Chan. You lead, I follow. Obviously. We could try to head straight for Yondong. That's our most extreme location we can head for. That, or Wando. And the walk will be a very long one. We'll have to make multiple stops and raids just to get there. Unless you're willing to risk attention and take one of the vehicles. If not, then we can try for Kamjong. Or even Mokpo. Not as far, but still pretty far. And still keeping to the Yellow Sea. Or if you want, we can try for the Eastern Sea. Different marine life. If there, then maybe Busan. I know, a large city. But closest to the coast. Not as far as the other options."
Chan hummed, looking at the options Changbin had pointed out. Even gently using his claw to poke a hole in their respective locations on the map. Chan sat in the chair behind him, and hummed. Studying it very thoroughly.
Changbin could practically see Chan's brain at work. Determining all the risk factors. The many, many unknown scenarios that could play out as a result. What their best option really was. And possibly if he really was considering a vehicle, or not. He knew Chan would make the right call. But by giving him options, Changbin was proving he wanted to contribute and help. And would be a good co-leader. Maybe they would make a pack along their route.
He was brought from his inner thoughts, to a deep and low hum from Chan.
Chan pointed at the map, "I say for now, we head for Puan. Once we get there, we can then decide if we want to try and making it through and or over the Sobaek Mountains. Or not."
Changbin nodded, "You got it."
Chan bit his bottom lip. His gaze drifted out the bunker into the new day. Eyes landing on the armored vehicles. Changbin watched him, ears perked far forward. Ready to agree with his decision. Wanting to tell him he was making the right choice. Chan sighed, "I wish they weren't so fucking massive and bulky."
Changbin smirked as he pointed out, "Good battering rams, though."
Chan smirked. He grabbed the map, rolling it up. Clearly taking it with them, "Let's make sure we take all the MREs and ammunition we can. Best to not leave much behind."
Changbin nodded. After making sure they had all the supplies they could gather, they made for one of the vehicles. A more truck looking vehicle than the tank or hummer.
After managing to hot wire the thing, they made for Puan.
//
They only stayed in Puan long enough, to gather supplies.
And then made for Kochang, instead. After much deliberation, Chan had decided to stick to the Yellow Sea. So, that only left them wondering where they would ultimately head for.
The answer?
Mokpo.
With their ultimate destination in mind, they made for the larger town. Being mindful not to attract any attention, despite their vehicle. Often turning it off when not going anywhere. Made it easier. They only raided as necessary. Making sure to gather supplies, while being mindful. Knowing others may come through where they went, and look for supplies. And Changbin suspected Chan had other reasons. Leave a trail. That was, others could eventually make their way to where they set up their safe zone and base. Though accepting such wolves inside, would be interesting. He wasn't sure Chan had thought that far ahead. But it was better than nothing, he supposed.
Couldn't have a safe zone without offering it to others.
They weren't quite sure how they managed to detour to just outside Naju, but they had. Not too off put, they decided to merely looking around. Gather a few supplies, and then turn around and make for Mokpo.
Both had turned the vehicle off, just as they saw the figures milling about. Both look to one another a moment, before back to the zombies ahead. Changbin whisper inquired, "What do you wanna do now, Chan? It's not like we're short on supplies. We got a lot of food, MREs, ammunition, and medicine. Along with blunt force trauma weapons."
Chan sighed, "I guess, we can see if there's anyone around? I'd like to try and take on one other wolf, before we make for Mokpo. I know they may migrate to us, but I'd rather have one other. Just in case it takes time. And in case we need to go on a supply run, before others can arrive."
Changbin watched him. An ear moving a little, before he nodded slowly, "Okay." He turned and opened the door, "Then let's go see who we can pick up. If anyone."
Chan smirked, and nodded. He left the vehicle as well, "We'll try not to go too far. If we cannot find anyone, then we'll make for Mokpo."
Changbin nodded, "Sounds fair to me."
He pulled out the long axe they'd found on their journey, and gipped it tight. Chan smirked, even as he hauled out a machete they'd found at a different fallen military outpost. Without a word further, they turned and headed for the zombies. Changbin wasn't sure what they'd do if they found more than one. Take them all? And how would they know they could trust these new wolves?
Well, he knew he'd find out one way or another.
And very soon.
//
Changbin growled, eyes flaring as he did his best to put his current zombie foe down.
Chan wasn't too far from him, managing well enough alone. There were more zombies than they had accounted for. Had they left Naju? It wasn't as large as the bigger cities. No. There didn't seem to be that many of them. Just a bigger herd than they had seen since leaving their own city. A much larger city, at that. Maybe the outer edges of Naju had officially been emptied. Whatever the case, they were really making the two of them work for it. And also dashed any potential hope of finding any survivors here. It was too heavily populated with zombies for any. After all, the area looked like a temporary camp. Likely used for a night to regather themselves.
A growl came from behind him. He turned, axe embedded into his current zombie's skull. The zombie itself finally dead. He turned, ready to yank it free and use it on the zombie behind him. Claws out, dripping with toxic blood. Blood and drool falling from its missing jaw. Before it could go any further, it was suddenly on the ground. Something having hit it hard from behind. Changbin blinked. Watched as an array of colors blurred a little. A grunt of effort came from an unfamiliar voice.
He watched as the other wolf fiercely bashed in the zombie's brains. Once it was finished, the other was huffing from the effort. As he lifted his head, his hair gently moved from his gaze. It was so many colors. Like paint splatterings. He had teal green eyes. A beta. The other wolf was frowning at him, before he spoke. He pointed, as he did so, "Pay attention."
Changbin blinked, pulled from his gawking. He turned and took on the zombie about to take a nice bite out of him. Well, seemed Chan was getting his wish for a third wolf. But was he to be trusted? For the time being, they worked together to put the zombies from their misery. Once the last blood splatter erupted like a volcano, they finally had a chance to speak.
Chan approached with clear caution, "Um, thank you."
The beta turned to better look at him. As he did, Changbin finally had the chance to take him in properly. He was male, clearly. Based on his voice. He also noted he had a bit of a chest. Changbin nodded, that made the blue tint in his green eyes more reasonable. He was a beta-omega. This meant he was a child bearer. He was also lucky to have been left alone. Maybe? The new wolf finally spoke, "You're welcome, I guess. The fuck you two doing here? Naju isn't exactly an appealing place. Not as bad as the bigger cities or Seoul, but bad enough."
Chan shook his head, "Not heading for Naju. Not fully. Wanted to try and get one more wolf in our little pack. For safety reasons. Many of them, of course."
The wolf took him in, head to toe. After a few, he asked, "Then where the fuck are you going?"
Changbin answered, "To Mokpo. Want to be as close to the Yellow Sea, as we can. Future fishing's going to be real nice."
The wolf hummed, taking them in. They could tell he was trying to decide if he should trust them, or not. His colorful ear flickered a moment, "Okay, who the fuck are you two then?"
Chan nodded, fair enough. Introductions would help with familiarity, "I'm Bang Chan. This is Seo Changbin. And I get it. Why should you trust us? We can ask the same of you. For all you know, we are just looking for opportunity for an omega type to fuck and breed." He shrugged, "Though I admit, I always pictured myself more of an omega's alpha. Nothing against beta-omegas. But, never really my taste. True, in this world we live in now? Best to keep my options open." The other wolf smirked as Chan continued, "Changbin don't mind much. Though, he's always expressed deep wants for pups of his own. Though, not right away. But then, why should we trust you? Two very athletic and healthy alphas for you to take for your pets?"
The beta-omega at that, snorted and gave a very short bark of a laugh, "Oh, you are a smart one."
Changbin shrugged as he replied, "He has to be. His father more or less drilled him to be a fucking soldier. But, he's a good one. And besides, we've watched those zombie movies and shows. Same as any smart fucker who managed to get out."
The beta nodded. He looked between them, then to the vehicle they'd come in. He asked, "So, you say you're heading for Mokpo?"
Chan nodded as he answered, "That's right. Mostly to set up a safe zone and base. Near the coast. So fishing will be an option. We had debated going to Busan, but stuck with Mokpo."
The beta nodded, "Best you didn't. Heard it was almost like a nuclear bomb went off there. I haven't heard of many survivors making it out."
Changbin groaned, "Ah, man~! They had some of the best damned food outside Seoul."
Chan rolled his eyes, "You and your stomach, Bin." He smirked and looked to the beta, "Fair bit of warning if you take up our offer to come with us. Changbin's got a blackhole for a stomach. Loves to eat. Been whining my ear off ever since we left our apartment. Claims me a dictator for rationing our food supply. Even with all the MREs we got. Until we've settled, started farming, and fishing; he's not allowed to complain much more than that."
The beta smirked, "Is that so? Well, I guess I am his exact opposite. I am extremely picky in what I am willing to eat."
Chan smirked, "You know you have no choice now, right?"
"Oh, I know."
Chan nodded, "He's also, a bit of a tank. If I am to make it clear, he will not move for anyone. Or anything. Unless it's food."
The beta chuckled, "Hey, he's got his priorities straight." He grinned at Changbin, "That sounds like something anyone could use." He then turned back to Chan, "And, you?"
"I'm foive."
Changbin snorted, "Ah, the old joke lives on."
Chan smirked, "No, I make dumb dad jokes because I'm old and creaky."
Changbin snorted, even as the beta spoke, "At least you've embraced the teasing with ease."
Chan shrugged, "Better than to let it wear me down. And, you are?"
The beta paused. Clearly going into thought. Debating with himself of whether he'd tell them his identity. Whether he should trust them. And whether, he should go with them. After a long enough debate for the beta, he nodded, "Hyunjin. Hwang Hyunjin. I'm a bit of a dramatic artist." He then approached Chan. Hyunjin clearly knew Chan to be the leader of the two alphas. After coming to a halt before him, he looked him dead in the eye. After staring long enough, he inquired, "You got spare cargo trousers and military boots in that thing?"
Chan smirked, "And guns, yes."
Hynujin nodded, "I do like a bit of cohesion. Alright, I'll join you. But know this. I will tear both your dicks off, and shove them down your throats if you've lied to me. And try and make me your play thing."
Chan smirked, "Fair enough."
Hyunjin smirked, relaxing. With that, he let them guide him to their vehicle. They were fairly wordless the drive to Mokpo. Likely, not comfortable and willing to try and let their trust build. But at least he had two alphas to help protect him. And they had a new member to their pack.
Hopefully.
