Warrior Paint

Despite being dramatic, he was also quick to steel himself for this new and challenging world.

He'd watched nature paint the world in new colors. From the screams of chaos, to the slowly growing silence of the world. Filled only by the slow shuffling, and low groaning of zombies. Once it was the eerie silence filled with zombie sounds, he knew it was time he left the city for the wide wilds of Korea. And to an adventure filled life of survival. So, Hyunjin was quick to gather his one of his largest backpacks. And began to fill it with all the food and medical supplies he could carry with him.

He'd raid the other units soon.

Unfortunately, he did know he was without any proper weapons. But he knew he could use the pans as a weapon for the time being. They hit hard. And with enough force, could do some serious damage. With a strategy in mind, Hyungjin nodded. His fists on his hips as he looked at what he had in his unit to pack, and take with. He had to be smart about this. He was a beta, after all. And he'd channel the omega in him to be smart and brave. He knew omega types could be come incredibly brave and warrioress like when backed into a corner. But that had been rare, before the infection spread like a wildfire. But with society in collapse, omegas would be backed into many corners.

And then forced to unleash their inner goddesses.

He knew if they didn't, they would either be first killed. Or forced into sexual slavery. He knew he would not be one of them. He would show he wasn't a wolf to be easily messed with. After taking stock of his supplies, Hyunjin began to pack them appropriately into his backpack. Ensuring they wouldn't make too much sound as he moved about. It would draw attention to himself, and he didn't need that. He was severely outnumbered. Maybe when he had a pack he could confidentially trust to protect him, would he not be so overtly cautious.

Once the last of his personal supplies was in his backpack, he sealed it. He put it on, adjusting as need be so it didn't drag him down. He then picked up the biggest and heaviest feeling pan he owned, and gripped it tight. He then turned to his door. Time to face this new world. It was time he painted the world in red. Show nature he could take what paints she had on offer, and make his own creation in this world.

He sighed as he approached, feeling his inner wolf growling. He was ready to hunt. To fight and win. To make his own path in this new and uncertain world. He would go down fighting. No matter what. His grip on the handle of his pan grew fiercer. A growl at the back of his throat. He reached out, and carefully unlocked his door. It was time to face this new world head on. He had to be smart and level-headed about this. To use his beta brain. Then, he'd channel his omega side.

And strike.

He took a deep breath in. And as he let it out slowly, he turned the knob of his door. Slowly, he opened it. Ensuring it didn't creak and alert whatever zombies may be in the hallway. He peered out slowly and cautiously, looking up and down. Ears straining to hear shuffling. And or groaning. Nothing. Were there none on his floor? Well, he wasn't taking any chances. His grip on his pan felt more sure. And slowly, he slipped out of his now cleared unit.

Time to raid the rest of the complex.

//

He stood, expression hardened.

The body at his feet, already in a pool of its own blood. His pan dripping the same thing. He was huffing a little, his arm tingling from using his pan so aggressively. At least he wasn't going to die today from these things. Thank the gods they were currently slow. He knew they'd evolve and become more dangerous. But for now, they were anything but. It would only be later, would both the living and the dead be extremely dangerous. By then, who was to be certain of how his life would turn out.

He didn't feel anything.

Okay, only a little.

He felt bad for the wolf that had once been. And all the others he snuffed out. But at least their souls were finally at rest. That was the only comfort he could really give himself. That, and he was alive. But in this new world, he could not have much empathy. Nor care for anyone but himself. Maybe down the road, he'd care for his pack. Maybe even a mate. Would that even be possible now? Would he be loved and valued as more than just some broodmare? He knew omegas themselves would have it bad. But what about beta-omegas? Some of the surviving alphas out there would become sadistic and psychotic. Not taking younger alphas, betas, or omegas seriously.

Or treat them well.

He supposed that would be how he knew he'd found the right pack to join. How they treated him and those like him. The "weaker" ones. Well, it mattered little. For now, he just had to focus on keeping himself alive. Only when they had earned his trust, would he be willing to let them in. Let them close, and let his guard down.

With determination still coursing through him, Hyunjin entered the rest of the unit. Ready to raid It. it was going to be hell when he came across a double whammy of a zombie filled unit. But so far, none. He wondered if there had been a small epidemic of single wolves before the zombies. Was nature telling them she wasn't happy they weren't having pups much anymore? He wasn't sure. He wouldn't put it past nature. He wanted pups, he did. Just with the right alpha. And he had never found the right alpha yet. He may yet. But if nature had already taken him from Hyunjin, then what was he supposed to do? He doubted he'd lost his potential alpha mate. He had survived for a reason. So it stood to reason, his alpha mate had survived as well.

That may just be his beta brain thinking, though.

But he was logical for a reason. Betas were often the logical ones. He pushed such thoughts to the side as he move about quickly, yet methodically. He was quick to raid them of their medical supplies. Then their food. He made sure to hurry, but be meticulous in what he grabbed. He also kept an eye out for a potentially better weapon. He couldn't use his pan for the rest of his time out there. True, he could come across a better weapon after he left. But he'd always keep an eye out for one. Always on the hunt for more food, medical supplies, and a better weapon.

It was with this mind set, that Hyunjin raided the rest of his apartment complex.

//

With the last unit raided clean, Hyunjin knew it was time he left the city.

With his backpack stuffed full, Hyunjin left for the lobby. He would clear it out, first. Never know what treasures were available. And he was still on the hunt for a new weapon. After he was done going though the main floor/lobby area, he'd leave. And head for the more rural parts of Korea. Mostly because he knew how fucking stupid it was to head for a different city.

As like always, he checked the stairwell leading down to the lobby. The stairs the last few floors had been clear of zombies. But he knew better than to lower his guard. He cautiously made his way down the steps, keeping his pan ready for use. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he then made sure to stay careful opening the door to the lobby. As like always. He proceeded with extreme caution. And while the lobby was clear, he still refused to lower his guard. He moved about as silent as possible, checking for more food and medical supplies.

He came up short on the food part.

But he did come across more medical supplies. They'd come in real nice in the future. After putting them into his backpack, he knew it was officially time to leave the city.

As like many other survivors, he was sure. He opened the door to the outside carefully and slowly. Ensuring not to draw too much unwanted attention. He could hear the milling groaning of zombies nearby. But as he checked his surroundings, he was confident to say they were not near enough to notice him. At least, not yet. He'd have to quietly close the door behind him, then head for the nearest alleyway. Avoid being seen and or notice. Then, he'd just zigzag his way through the alleyways. Until he reached the city limit, of course.

With a plan in mind, Hyunjin executed it immediately.

After closing the door silently behind him, he turned and raced for the nearest alleyway. He did pause to check it was clear. Satisfied it was, he entered. And began his zigzag path. He would turn right, then left, then back to right again. Anything to throw them all off his tail. His beautiful paint splatter looking tail. He didn't look back, merely kept pushing forward. That was all he could do in this new world. Was just keep moving forward. Nothing good happened from even glancing back.

Once Hyunjin reached the city limit, he sighed his first sigh of relief. He'd made it. He'd survived to his first goal. Now, he could take time to find a place to stay for the night. Then, he'd figure out his next goal. And then attempt to reach it. He let himself regather his breath. And after checking his surroundings, he stepped out of the shadows of the tall buildings surrounding him like a jungle. And made for the wide open, and the unknown.

Time to paint his new world and life in the colors nature provided him.
