The second set of memories

"Arry--Harry! We're here mate." Neville said as he had been trying to get Harry's attention for the past few minutes, snapping out of his thoughts Harry looked around and did notice that they were indeed at the Three Broomsticks but they were the first ones there of the Crew. "You go find a booth or table or something for all of us and I'll get started on our orders. I'm assuming Ron, Draco and ‘Mione are gonna want their usuals." Harry dictated to Neville as they split up to go find a spot and to get food and drinks going. Once the order was placed Ron had waltzed right in and found the other two rather quickly. "Hey Harrikles, Aknuk. Did you guys place our order?" Harry shot a death glare and nodded "What have I told you about that name Pigyn?" Harry said icily while shooting Neville a glare when he heard the snickers coming from his god brother. "What ever do you mean Harry?" Ron said with faux innocence as he tried not to smirk. Grumbling about stupid nicknames and wishing he could change it got him reminiscing once again.

*The day the letter came;
Petunia quietly knocked on Harry's bedroom door to wake him up. Harry had moved into what was considered the guestroom and Vernon and Petunia had moved Marge to the smallest room available after the Christmas Harry had been living with the Dursleys for the few months after that night. "What do you mean this tiny room is mine now?!?! I've always been in the guest room!" Marge bellowed in protest. "Marge, I told you we now have taken in our nephew from Petunia's sister. Who was murdered in a home invasion." Vernon said tiredly, why did his sister have to be so thickheaded and rude to his nephew. "Well, that's what happens to no good layabouts and drunken whores." The air went still when those words were uttered. Petunia reprimanded Marge, "James was a police officer and Lily was training to be a doctor. How dare you demean their sacrifice for their son!!!!!! This is the last year you will spend the holidays with us until you can be civil and polite to Harrison. If not then you will be banned from this home." The icy tone left no room for arguments for Marge and it truly was the last time she spent more than an hour with her brother and his family.

"Harry dear, time to wake up my little king. Dudley has been accepted to Smeltings and I need your help to make everything for breakfast." Petunia whispered as she gently woke up Harry. Sitting up and rubbing his eyes, Harry reached for his glasses and whispered back "coming auntie. Eggs, bacon and fruit filled pancakes today?" Nodding, Petunia left the room to let Harry get dressed and went downstairs to get started on breakfast.

Once Harry emerged from his room dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a graphic tee that had dragons depicted on it with a pair of runners, he silently went downstairs to help his aunt. "What do you want me to get started on auntie?" "Break the eggs and add the milk and seasoning and whisk. I'll get going on the bacon and the pancake mix should be in the pantry. If you want to get started on those after prepping the eggs for me that would be wonderful. We should have some berries in the fridge for the pancakes." After getting his orders he cheekily replied "Ma'am yes ma'am, General ma'am!" Rolling her eyes at her nephew who was teasing returned her attention back to the bacon in the pan.

About half an hour or so later both Vernon and Dudley came downstairs and made their way with their noses leading them into the kitchen from the smell of bacon and sweetness of pancakes cooking. "Good morning everyone! Congratulations son." Vernon called out from the hallway as Dudley beat him to the kitchen and sat down ignoring the mountain of gifts behind him in the living room. "Morning Vernon/Dad/Uncle." And a small chorus of "Congratulations Dudley/Dud" were heard in the small kitchen as well as the smacking of lips on Dudley's cheek from his mom who gave him a celebratory kiss. "Muuuuum!!" Dudley whined a bit but truly enjoyed the love he felt from his mother. "Eat up dearest. You and Harry need to get ready for the family trip to the zoo." Nodding and carefully and quickly eating his breakfast, Dudley asked while he finished his plate. "Mum, Harry. May I have another pancake?" Knowing his mum and cousin hadn't had any or if they did, it was a while ago, Dudley asking while he finished his plate. "Let your father get some as well as Harry and I dear. Then you can have a second helping of pancakes. I did give you a glass of juice as well so drink up." Petunia replied as she and Harry started to clean while Vernon worked his way into the kitchen and sat down to eat breakfast.

A few minutes later the doorbell rang, "I'll go get the door!" Dudley cried out as he hustled to the door. Opening it up, he sees his two honorary uncles. "Uncle Remus! Uncle Sev! Hi, we are having breakfast! I think Harry and mum made enough for you two as well if you want to join us." Nodding and chuckling at the boy's enthusiasm, the older two men walked in and followed Dudley to the kitchen. "Good morning everyone. We heard that Dudley has been accepted to a sort of muggle version of Hogwarts? Smeltings was it?" Remus asked as he helped enlarge the breakfast table a bit more to seat him and Severus comfortably. Vernon nodded, "Yes he did. In fact it's my alma mater and with me being the CEO of the Surry branch of Grunnings he was accepted rather quickly. After breakfast, we will be going to the zoo to celebrate as well. Would you gentlemen care to join us?" Harry's eyes widen to astronomical proportions at the thought of his uncle's and last link he had to his parents and the magical world. Without even having to verbally beg them to come, once both Severus and Remus saw the look they knew they were in trouble and were indeed going with. "Put those eyes away young man. Your mother had the very same and used them as weapons on me, our parents and Sevvy here when she was your age." Petunia said as she caught a small glimpse of the look Harry was giving his godfathers. "James had a similar look as well for whenever he wanted to pull a more elaborate prank on Sirius and needed my help with it. Those eyes are a weapon with both James and Lily's DNA contributing to the pleading." Remus remarked and Severus nodded in remembrance of Lily having had the same look when she wanted something done her way. Lighting up when he hears stories about his parents, Harry scooched his chair closer to Remus and begged for more.

*Shuffle and click*, the mail slot opened and closed. "I've got it this time!" Harry said as he stood up to go collect the mail. A postcard from Marge, some bills, a letter to him from Sirius and what looked like his Hogwarts letter. Numbly Harry walked back to the kitchen with the Hogwarts letter in his hands as he handed off the rest, just staring at it. "What do you have there Harry?" Remus asked when he noticed that Harry was quiet. Holding up his letter all Harry could do was slowly smile and start bouncing on his toes.

"IT CAME!!!! MY LETTER CAME!!!!!!!" He shouted with joy. All of the adults covered their ears and laughed at his antics as Harry grabbed Dudley and started to jump up and down while saying "it came, it came" over and over. "Harry dear, don't you also have another letter from Sirius?" Petunia asked. Snapping back to reality, Harry ripped open the letter from his Godfather, who worked as an auror and was busy trying to find Peter Pettigrew, who was still missing ever since that night he blew up that street.

Dear Pronglet,

I'm sorry I can't be there for when your letter comes in, but I can be there for when you board the train. Amelia has me working like a dog with paperwork and other boring stuff. (See what I did there?) Tell Moony and the Bat I say hi and will meet up with them when I can.

Love you lots,

Sirius AKA Padfoot

Laughing at the silliness that is his godfather, Harry passed on the message to his uncles Mooney and Severus. "Padfoot says hi and will meet up with you when he can." Came the chirp from the small boy as he reached for his Hogwarts letter. Skimming through the letter his excitement was growing by the second for both the zoo and to go see The Alley. "Can we go tomorrow? We have our zoo trip today anyway." Harry asked. Every year at the start of the summer, and depending on how good the boys did in school, the Dursley's and sometimes Harry's godfathers, head out to the zoo for a celebration.
