Chapter 4

As she predicted the next day the pain potions stopped working. The last of her magic seeping from her body in a painful violent scream. She curled up on her side, desperately trying to alleviate some of the pain, but nothing worked. The healers continued to check on her, to come up with a solution to ease her pain. Yet nothing worked. Her body felt like it was being ripped apart from the inside out, worse then when she was tortured. She tried to keep her screams silenced, but all that managed to come from it, was her screaming until she passed out. Only to wake not long later to scream some more.

She vaguely registered that the door opened. She grit her teeth, bitting her lip to keep herself from screaming. Brows furrowed with the effort to keep everything inside. A hand brushed the hair from her face, wiping away a stray tear.

“Oh, love.”

A sob boiled up inside her at the voice. She knew that voice. After almost four years, she knew that voice. Her body, still shaking violently, curled tightly around herself.

“Why?” He whispered.

She couldn’t answer him, knowing the moment she opened her mouth she would start screaming again. She heard him move, shuffling around, before she felt the bed dip. He drew her closer, pressing her face into his chest and holding her tightly.

”I’m sorry.” He whispered. “I’m so sorry. The moment I sent you away, I regretted it. I wanted you to come home, but I couldn’t find you. I worked to make myself better, so when you did come home I could woo you like I did in school.” He pressed a kiss to her brow. “I missed Fred so much, but the moment I lost you, I felt truly lost. I need you Hermione, more than anything in this world. I need you, love.”

Though to tried to keep it at bay for longer, she couldn’t. Her cry’s of anguish and pain filled the room once more, muffled slightly as her face was pressed into George’s chest.

“I love you so much, Hermione.” He said into her ear.

The tattoo around her wrist glowed. It glowed black and gold for a single moment, before two figure stood before them.

“Oh child.” Lady Magic spoke, her hand brushing over Hermione’s head. The pain stopped. She breathed in deeply, as the echos still rattled her body, but she could think now. She could move now. Her tears slipped faster at the relief that flooded her.

“Hermione Granger, you have upheld the deal. As creators of this world, we free you from the price that is needed. Your body will heal, your magic will return to you. For you, Hermione Granger, are Pure of Heart. Even when faced with those you love, you still stuck by the agreement. For that, we are rewarding you with life.” Death spoke, waving his hand over her.

It was then that the pain vanished completely. It was then, something warm filled her, and she knew it was her magic returning to her. “Thank you.” She rasped, her throat hurt from screaming the past two days.

“You are very lucky your soulmate has no regards for rules. Seeing as he snuck in after the healer left.” Lady Magic said, a smile on her face.

“Soulmate?” They breathed together.

”it was the only thing that could save you. He was the only one who could save you. The ultimate sacrifice for love, needs to be met with the ultimate confession by the one person who is your every match.”
