Chapter 7
Regulus walked into the dining hall looking for his friends. He had no luck but saw Barty and Evan sitting with Pandora. He walked up to his old dorm mates and homeroom buddy, not wanting to sit alone. He hadn't really seen his ex roommates in a while, not having any classes with them. Pandora he saw daily during free time of course.
Barty looked up from the conversation he was having with Evan, making eye contact with the younger. "REG!" He shouted enthusiastic to see his friend finally. The other two looked over, also beaming as they saw him walk over. "REGULUS BLACK, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MATE!" Evan yelled, pulling Regulus into a side hug as he sat down. "Hey guys, sorry I've been distant. 'Lot on my plate right now.." He said rubbing his neck awkwardly. The other three gave each other a look before Pandora, who sat across next to Barty reached over the table taking hold of the boys hands. "It's alright Reg. You know we miss you, but we understand."
Within the last month and a half, rumors about the party had spread all around the school, despite everyones attempt to keep that from happening. They died off within a few weeks of them appearing, but everyone already knew, weather they talked about it or not. Regulus still got looked down in the halls, or class. He mainly stayed in his dorm after classes, this being the first time he came to the dining hall for lunch this week.
As the others talked he looked over to his brother and James sitting a few tables down, Peter doodling away in his sketchbook. Regulus sighed, feeling like shit. James looked over at him and beamed, standing up out of his seat and running over to the boy.
"REGULUS BLACK??" he yelled, causing people around to look over. Regulus threw his head in his hand embarrassed from the attention. "Shut the hell up James." Regulus said muffled by his hands. James ignored him and sat next to the younger, pulling him into a hug. "I haven't seen you out of the dorm for a while Reggie, you see why I would be so excited."
Regulus' face flushed in his hands from the comment. " don't say things like that you idiot." James stared at him with a wide grin.
"Reggie, who is this?" Barty asked from across the table sarcastically, as he already knew who this was, his ex roommate never shut up about him. " Barty, James. James, Barty. there now you know him and now he knows you." Regulus said getting up with a slightly less red face.
"Where you going, Reg?" James asked as he got up to follow the younger, quickly waving to the others. " too many people I thought I was ready, but I'm not." Regulus replied swiftly before making his way out of the dining hall with James following.
The two made their way to their dorm, entering and sitting on James' bed. The pair was awkwardly silent for a while before James spoke up "How are you doing? You know, after everything.." Regulus tensed and sighed replying " I don't wanna talk about it. I'm sorry." He said. 'Don't fucking cry Regulus. Don't fucking cry jesus christ please don't.' he thought fighting off tears.
"Hey it's okay Reg, we don't have to. Are you okay? You look like you're about to cry.." James said concerned that he had triggered the younger some how. Regulus hid his face by looking the other way, nodding. He let the first tear roll, sniffling. Too late now to go back.
James put his hand on the others shoulder, pulling his head to look at him with his finger. Regulus let 2 more tears roll. James stared at him, then kissed his forehead, before pulling him into a hug. Regulus let the tears keep rolling down his cheeks and he sobbed into James' shirt.
"Regulus. What happened at home. I need you to tell me." James said sternly, he might of felt selfish asking, but he needed to know. He needed to know if he was safe there. He needed to know if he could still live there. He needed to know.
Regulus just sobbed harder. " James." He said pulling his face out of the orders chest. He looked him in the eyes to find the others staring back, waiting for an answer. "James- It's so horrible. I'm so disgusting!" Regulus started before letting out another sob.
"Regulus Black you are not disgusting don't ever say that about yourself please." James said while he caressed the other's face, wiping the tears off his cheeks. "Take your time, I just need to know."
Regulus paused before explaining. "My uncle Cygnus. He comes over every Sunday morning with his daughters and wife. I try to stay in my room but mother insists I come down!" James stared at him waiting for him to continue. "It started about 2 years ago during winter holiday, He would come to my room before they left to "say goodbye". He would touch me and I hated it, but I was too scared to say anything." James stared wide eyed, hand still on his cheek.
"The first- The first time it happened. I figured it was just because him and father had drank, and I figured it wouldn't happen again. But- It's happened every time. Sirius doesn't know, I'm scared to tell him. I tried to tell mother, she told me I was a liar! She told me I wanted attention.." James felt goosebumps on his skin by the time he was done speaking.
"You and sirius can't go back. You can't." James replied. "WHERE ELSE COULD I GO JAMES? MY PARENTS WOULDN'T ALLOW IT I HAVE NO CHOICE!" Regulus yelled in an aggravated voice as he stood up crying harder than he had been.
"Regulus you and Sirius can live with me I promise my parents would let you I promise I can save you. Just let me please, please." James said getting up to argue back at the younger. He had to get through to him. "We can call the police, they will help, Regulus please trust me I can help."
