Fresh out the Slammer

Hermione stood before Sirius Black, with a grin spread across her lips.

"Why am I here, Hermione? As much as I love leaving my new prison cell, I'm curious as to why you brought me here?" He asked, glancing over his shoulder at Bill Weasley. "I'd also like to know why you asked for this Weasley and not Ron."

Her grin grew. "I have news for you Sirius Black. You see, with the help of Bill and your cousin-in-law, I was able to get this." She pulled out a folded piece of parchment. "I got this by owl three days ago." She handed it to him, and watched as he hesitantly unfolded it. She watched him reach the contents, eyes wide for a moment before blurring with unshed tears.

"This is-Is this-?"

"It's real. It only took two days after an official investigation, with the help of an eye witness, to declare you innocent. You are officially a free man." Hermione said gently.

She squeaked in shock when he lunged forward and wrapped his arms around the tiny witch and lifted her off the ground in his excitement. Bill's laughter echoed behind them, as Sirius twirled her in excited circles. When he finally sat her back onto the ground, he stared adoringly down at her. "Thank you, Hermione." He whispered. "This is the best news I've heard in a long time."

"There's more." Bill piped up with a grin.

"What else could you possibly have for me?" He asked.

"You have an appointment at Gringotts in an hour to officially claim your inheritance. This will give you more of a legal backing when you go get Harry since you are his legal guardian." Bill explained, moving to stand behind Hermione and wrapping an arm around her shoulders gently. The casual gesture didn't go unnoticed by the recently freed man.

Sirius raised an eyebrow. "So-Is this an actual thing?" He asked.

Hermione and Bill shared a glance. "Yes." They responded as one.

"I'm of age thanks to the time-turner." Hermione explained. "So, it's perfectly legal."

Sirius, after a moment of just watching the two, nodded his head. "Alright. Well, let's get going to Gringotts!" He said.

The first half of the appointment went well. It was going really well. It wasn't until the goblins asked for blood confirmation that, well as some would say, shit hit the fan.

"All that's needed is a blood test." Sharpclaw, the goblin, spoke.

Sirius dutifully held his hand out. Sharpclaw pricked his finger with a steel knife and squeezed the wound until the blood dripped onto the parchment below. Hermione watched in fascination as Sirius's name was written out in blood, before spreading out slowly to reveal more names. A family tree in blood. It wasn't until she noticed a line breaking away directly below his name, to write out another name. Her name.

"Is this accurate?" Hermione asked softly, eyes locked on her name. Hermione Granger.

Sirius's brows furrowed before glancing down at the parchment and spotting the extra branch below his name. "How-What?"

"Miss. Granger, would you be willing to take a blood test?" Sharpclaw asked.

"Y-Yes." She answered hesitantly, clearing her throat and trying to shake off the nerves.

Another piece of parchment appeared, and Sharpclaw pricked her finger, copying the movements he did with Sirius. All of them watched in fascination as her name appeared, before a branch appeared and connected two one Sirius Black, and one Marelen Makinnon. She sighed an unanswered question, finally being answered.

"Have you known that your parents weren't your parents?" Sharpclaw asked.

"I've known for a long time." Hermione whispered, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.

"Did you know who your biological parents were?" The goblin asked.

"No. I get these dreams, nightmares really, of a woman. I can't really see anything, but I hear fighting, and screaming. It's hard to differentiate honestly." She rubbed her temple, trying to ease the pressure the built every time she talked about these dreams.

"Do you often get a headache when discussing these dreams?" Sharpclaw asked, eyes narrowed.

"Yeah, but it's just a pressure headache." She replied, waving him off.

"Do you mind if we have a mind healer look you over?" He asked.

Hermione shrugged. They waited as a healer appeared and placed her hands on either side of Hermione's head. "I want you to think about the dreams. Even if the headache gets worse, stay with in." Nodding, Hermione thought through her dream, wincing as the pressure got worse and worse, to the point where black spots filled her eyes, and sweat poured from her skin. "This is concerning." The healer mumbled, slowly pulling away. "You have a block on your memories, as well as a heavy glamor. We need to take care of this as soon as possible. You're magically of age, and because of these restrictions your magic might begin to cause you problems. Or cause dangerous bouts of accidental magic."

"Let's get this taken care of then." Hermione mumbled.

Bill and Sirius sat on either side of Hermione. They had completed the necessary rituals to get rid of the blocks on her memory and removing the glamor.

"Did you know you had a daughter?" Bill whispered.

Sirius shook his head. "If I had, I wouldn't have abandoned her, to leave Marelen to raise her by herself. I didn't know. Even if I had tried, Lily and James would have kicked my ass six ways to Sunday." A fond smile slipped onto his face at the thought of his friends.

"What was your relationship with Marelen like?" Bill asked.

Sirius smiled fondly. "She was an amazing girl. I loved her very much, and I wanted us to be the next Lily and James. Only she wanted different things. She wanted travel more, leave England for a while. I couldn't leave. I was busy with the Order. James and Lily just got married, and I was scared all the time that I would lose more family. Regulus had died, and I just didn't want to leave. I didn't want to not be around if something happened. She broke up with me a month after Lily and James got married, and virtually disappeared. Until we got the news about the attack on her home. I thought she had left the country. I didn't even know there had been a baby in the house at all. Dumbledore was the one that told us what happened. He said-" Sirius stopped mid sentence, realization sinking in, "He said he had swept the house personally. No one had made it out alive."

Bill was going to say something, only for Hermione to sit up suddenly, a scream falling from her lips. Bill quickly moved and pull her into his arms, soothing her gently. "Shh, love it's ok."

"Dumbledore." She panted. "It was Dumbledore. The Death Eaters had attacked, but the woman, I think it was Marelen, was still alive. She had been holding me When Dumbledore appeared. They got into a fight. He screamed about a prophocy, that I would be apart of it and that Marelen had to fall in line." Her brows furrowed in concentration. "Marelen refused. She said something about being normal, and a reunion. Marelen and I fell, from a spell. There was so much screaming. Then nothing. Just blue eyes." She buried her face into Bill's chest, trying to settle her raging thoughts. Memories flooding her as she realized that she had succeeded in getting Harry away from the Dursley's at some point, only for Dumbledore to show up again and take him away. More and more memories flooded her, memories she didn't have. It was all just painful. All of it was just painful. Tears fell in waves, the wind picking up around her as he magic responded to her emotions.

"Shh, love. It's alright. No one is going to hurt you. It's alright." Bill whispered, pulling her tighter against him. "I got you."
