The veil wears thin
Letter from Harry Evans to Headmaster Armando Dippet.
Delivered via owl post.
To Headmaster Armando Dippet,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to inquire about the open position for Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Having spent much of my life immersed in Muggle culture, I believe I can offer a unique perspective that will benefit the education of young witches and wizards who may not otherwise have exposure to non-magical advancements and practices. I hold a deep respect for both worlds and understand the importance of bridging the gap between them.
While my experience teaching in formal institutions has been limited to guest lectures at smaller European academies, I have conducted independent research into Muggle technology, history, and societal structures. I believe that Muggle Studies has the potential to be more engaging and practical, should the right methods be applied.
Attached are my credentials and references. I am available for an interview at your earliest convenience, and I’m eager to contribute to Hogwarts’ esteemed faculty.
Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Professor Harry Evans
Response from Headmaster Armando Dippet.
To Mr. Harry Evans,
Thank you for your interest in the position of Muggle Studies Professor at Hogwarts. Your credentials have been reviewed, and I must admit, I find your background most intriguing. The importance of fostering a stronger understanding of the non-magical world has grown increasingly apparent, even within our halls.
While I generally prefer candidates with prior teaching experience in Britain, your unique approach and Breadth of knowledge may be just what the position requires.
I would be pleased to arrange an interview at Hogwarts this coming Wednesday afternoon, if you are available. Please confirm your attendance via return owl.
I look forward to see you teach,
Warm regards,
Armando Dippet.
Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Hook, line and sinker.” Harry smirked darkly. He quickly wrote down a short reply to the Headmaster. He had recently been feeling extra emotions, because ever since Riddle made him visible once more. He feels everything a mortal should. It’s kind of refreshing, but also annoying.
After the meeting, Harry wasted no time. Upon returning to his quiet abode, he penned a short reply to formalise his acceptance.
Dear Headmaster Dippet,
It was a pleasure meeting with you earlier. I appreciate your confidence in me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to teach at Hogwarts. I will ensure to arrive on the 1st of September, prepared to begin my role as Muggle Studies Professor.
Looking forward to contributing to the school and meeting the rest of the staff.
Yours sincerely,
Harry Evans.
As Harry sealed the letter, his eyes lingered on the name he signed at the bottom - Harry Evans. A simple disguise, but one which would serve it’s purpose. The world had long forgotten the Boy Who Lived, and for now, he preferred it that way. Hogwarts would welcome him soon enough, none the wiser to the ghost walking it’s halls.
