The-Boy-Who-Vanished

25th Anniversary since The Boy Who Lived vanished!
By Rita Skeeter Special Correspondant

July 31, 2023

It has been twenty-five years since Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, Man who Conquered and Saviour of our Wizarding World, walked out of the public eye and into a legend. On the anniversary of his mysterious disappearance, the question still lingers on the lips of witches and wizards alike - where did he go, and why has he never returned? Once the beacon of hope in the fight against darkness, Potter’s absence left behind more unanswered questions. It left a world wondering whether it’s greatest hero might one day step out of the shadows - or if he has become nothing more than a ghost of a memory, drifting away further with each passing year.

After having as exclusive interview with Minister Hermione Weasley, the Minister of Magic, and a close friend of Harry’s in her youth. Reveals some shocking secrets.

Rita Skeeter: “Minister Weasley, thank you for agreeing to speak with me today. I know this is a difficult subject. It’s been twenty-five years Harry Potter’s disappearance. The Wizarding World still holds onto the hope that he might return. How did you feel when he left? Did you know he would leave at all?

Minister Hermione Weasley: (There’s a long pause, and she exhales softly, folding her hands together as if bracing herself.)
“I don’t think anyone truly believed Harry would disappear like that. He was Harry, you know? He never ran from anything - not danger, not responsibility, not even his past. I thought…after everything we had been through he would stay. I thought
we all would.

Rita Skeeter: “But he didn’t.”

Minister Hermione Weasley: No. (Her voice lowers, and for a moment, she almost seems to forget she’s being interviewed.) One day, he was there. And the next- nothing. His clothes were still on the bed, his wand in its usual place. It was as if he had just stepped out for a walk and forgotten to come home.

Rita Skeeter: “That must have been unsettling. Did Harry ever say anything that hinted he might leave?”

Minister Hermione Weasley: “Harry never really said much about his own burdens. But looking back… ( She hesitates, as if unsure whether to continue.) There were moments when I thought he felt out of place, like he didn’t belong in the same world as the rest of us anymore. He used to say -“

Rita Skeeter: “What did he say, Minister?”

Minister Hermione Weasley: (Quietly, almost to herself.) “I have no place here anymore.” (Her eyes flicker to the window, distant and lost in thought.) “I thought he meant it in passing, like an echo of the war. But I see it now - he wasn’t talking about the Ministry, or even Hogwarts. He meant the world itself.

Rita Skeeter: “You believed he meant to leave, then?“ (I ask, Intrigued, despite my old age.)

Minister Hermione Weasley: “I believe Harry didn’t just leave. He…disappeared, in a way none of us can explain. I spent years trying to understand it - every magical trace, every theory, every book. But there was no spell, no sign of forced magic, no trail. He simply….Vanished. (Her voice trembles slightly, but she straightens in her chair.) I think part of me always knew he wasn’t coming back.

Rita Skeeter: “That must have been difficult for you. The two of you were famously close.” (My lips twitch upwards slightly as I remember the past.)

Minister Hermione Weasley: (Her expression softens, but the sadness lingers beneath her words.) “Harry was my best friend. Losing him felt like losing a part of myself. I thought we’d grow old’ together - him, Ron and me. I still catch myself some mornings expecting to see him, just sitting there with that ridiculous cup of tea he always insisted was far better than coffee.

Rita Skeeter: And now, twenty-five years later?

Minister Hermione Weasley: Now? (She smiles faintly, though it doesn’t reach her eyes.) Now, I suppose I’ve learned to live with ghosts.

Rita Skeeter: “Any final thoughts for those still hoping he might return?”

Minister Hermione Weasley: (Hermione’ gaze softens, and for a moment, there’s a flicker of something unreadable in her expression - Hope, perhaps, or acceptance.) “Harry’s always had a way of surprising people. If he’s out there somewhere… I believe he’ll come back when he’s ready. Until then, we carry on - because that’s what he would have wanted. But some part of me will always be waiting for him to walk through that door, just like he used too.”

After this exclusive interview with Minister of Magic Hermione Jean Granger-Weasley. I was nearly brought to tears. You can see the true love for Harry she still cherishes within her. And so, as the Wizarding world marks twenty-five years without its greatest hero, one truth remains - Harry James Potter may have vanished, but his absence lingers like a whisper, as if the Boy Who Lived is still out there, watching, waiting, and perhaps one day, ready to return.
