Being Immortal
Summary
The war is over and Harry is ready to return to the family that raised him for three years. With his magic out of control, the Hallows overwhelming him, and the question of whether or not he is immortal, can he find happiness and help in Forks Washington?

This story was supposed to be just a one shot, but somehow it got away from me so I decided to break it into two parts. The second part hasn’t been written yet and I’m not even sure when I’ll get to it, but I decided to post part one anyway. This story does not follow Twilight’s timeline or events.

I hope you all enjoy this story and don’t forget to read the author notes at the end.

Edward gently caught Bella’s hands and forced them away from the piano keys. “Alright, you win, you’re hopeless and you’ll never learn how to play the piano.”

“Told you,” Bella gloated triumphantly. “I’m just not coordinated enough for something as complicated and beautiful as the piano.”

“You’re beautiful.” Edward said, staring into Bella’s eyes as he reached out to caress her cheek.

“And you’re pathetic,” Emmett snorted from where he was sitting on the couch flipping through a wrestling magazine.

Alice skipped into the room holding a crystal vase filled with yellow sunflowers. “Don’t be mean, Emmett, they’re in love. Would you like me to tell Bella how sickeningly pathetic you were when you first met Rose?”

“It’s alright, I wasn’t offended,” Bella quickly reassured. “I know Emmett was just teasing.”

“I was never as pathetic as Eddie boy,” Emmett sniffed. “Rose would have kicked my ass if I was that pathetic.”

“I’m not pathetic,” Edward grumbled.

“No, you’re just in love,” Alice sang as she twirled in a circle. Giggling, she went to place the flowers on the piano when she froze, her eyes going out of focus.

Edward and Emmett lunged forward at the same time, Edward grabbing the vase that was slipping through Alice’s fingers while Emmett wrapped his arms around her to support her. Carefully placing the flowers on his piano, Edward retook his seat next to Bella as he focused on the vision Alice was having.

Jasper came running into the room and rushed to his mate. Taking Emmett’s place, he held Alice until after she came out of her vision. “What did you see?” He asked when her face broke out into a massive grin.

Looking up at her mate, Alice said happily. “He’s coming home, Jaz, he’s coming home.”

Jasper’s eyes widened in shock. “Are you sure? How clear was your vision?” He asked, his voice full of longing.

Alice nodded her head excitedly. “He’s not going to change his mind, Jaz. He will be here before the weekend.”

Bella leaned into Edward. “Who is she talking about? Who is coming home?”

Edward was looking at Alice like he couldn’t believe what she was saying even though he had seen her vision himself. “Our little brother,” he answered softly, his own lips stretching into a grin. “Harry, our brother, is coming home.”

“Are you sure about this, mate? You can come with Mione and me to Australia to find her parents,” Ron offered.

Closing his trunk, Harry pulled out his wand then shrunk it. Picking his palm size trunk up, he placed it into his pocket. “Ron, I haven’t seen them since I was eleven. I want to go home.”

Ron frowned. “I get it man, it’s just that…”

Harry looked expectantly at his best friend. “They’re what, Ron?” He asked when Ron didn’t finish his sentence. “They’re vampires, is that what you were going to say?”

“Well, yeah, but I didn’t mean it in a nasty way.” Ron defended, his face turning red. “I know they raised you for three years and they’re vegetarians and all, I’m just…I’m just going to miss you and it doesn’t feel right us being so far away from each other, especially now with your magic acting all wonky since the battle. What if you need me? And let’s not forget, there are still Death Eaters out there that would love to take out the Great Harry Potter.”

“I just shrunk my trunk with no problems,” Harry pointed out.

“You set the kitchen on fire this morning when you tried to summon a coffee mug. I know you don’t want to hear it again, but Madam Pomfrey said no magic. I would feel better if you went with Mione and me instead of America.”

“I can’t, Ron. I love you and Hermione, but I haven’t seen my family for seven years and I don’t know how much time I have left.”

“Don’t say that!” Ron whimpered. “You’re not going to die, I won’t allow it.”

“I don’t think you get a say,” Harry chuckled.

“It’s not funny, Harry!” Ron snapped. “Your magic is literally killing you,”

“Not my magic, it’s the power of the Hallows that’s killing me which is kind of ironic seeing as they’re supposed to make me the Master of Death.”

“You need to go talk to Professor Dumbledore’s portrait again. He has to know what’s going on.”

Harry snorted. “Contrary to what you believe, Ron, Dumbledore doesn’t know everything. I talked to him once and he said I had to destroy one of the Hallows, well I destroyed two and they still came back to me as good as new. I’m not going to talk to him again.”

“Still upset over that whole, raising you like a lamb for slaughter thing?”

“You think?” Harry cried, throwing his hands up in the air. “He knew all along that I had to sacrifice myself, yet he lied to me and manipulated me. The only good thing he has ever done for me was allow me to live with the Cullens for three years after my uncle almost killed me. Even then he sent me back to the Dursley’s every summer after I started Hogwarts because he said I was safer behind the fake bloodwards than with a coven of powerful and gifted vampires. He knew my relatives beat and starved me every summer, but he didn’t care. I’m not asking him for anymore help.”

“I know, I’m sorry. I’m just scared, Harry. I can’t lose you too. Losing Percy almost destroyed me and I was never close to the pompous git. Just come with us and then after we restore Mione’s parents’ memories we will go to America with you.”

Harry shook his head. “Ron, I’m not going to change my mind. Not only do I desperately want to see my family, but my magic is also pulling me to them. I don’t know what it means, but I trust my magic.”

Ron’s shoulders slumped. “Fine, but take the mirror with you and check in with me everyday. I mean it, if I don’t hear from you I’m sending in the twins.”

Laughing, Harry walked up to his best mate and pulled him into a hug. “Take care of Mione. I’m afraid that her parents aren’t going to be happy with her when they get their memories back.”

Ron sniffed. “We will join you in America as soon as we get everything settled. Please stay safe and out of trouble.”

“Me? Trouble?” Harry laughed. “And here I thought you knew me better than anyone else.”

Harry was relieved when he felt the wheels of the airplane touch down. “Never again,” he muttered to himself. He had stupidly thought that taking a plane would be smarter and make it harder for anyone in the wizarding world to track him, but he had forgotten how much hated being around so many people in such a small space. Multiple times he had been tempted to apparate out, but he wasn’t sure if it was even possible to apparate from a moving airplane. Not that he trusted his magic right now to perform something as complicated as apparation. Knowing his luck he would have blown up the plane and killed everyone.

Not wanting to get in the middle of the stampede of people pushing to get off the plane, Harry waited until he was the last person left before getting up. He was relieved that he wouldn’t have to follow everyone to collect his luggage. Everything he needed was safely inside his pocket. Magic was wonderful.

Harry was making his way to the exit of the airport to find a taxi or Uber that would take him to Forks Washington when he felt the hairs on the back of his neck tingling, warning him that he was being watched. Watched by someone or something that wasn’t fully human. Stuffing his hand in his pocket, he caressed the Elder wand that was now his. Turning, his mouth dropped open in shock when he saw who was standing behind him.

“Surprise!” Alice cried as she launched herself at Harry.

“Alice!” Harry cried in disbelief. “How did you know? Oh, I should have known that you’d see me coming.” With tears in his eyes, he buried his face in his sister’s neck. “I missed you so much.”

Alice held Harry as he trembled and cried. “It’s alright, baby brother, you’re home now. Everything is going to alright, we will take care of you.”

“Did you see?” Harry asked, his face still buried in Alice’s neck.

“I’m not sure if I saw it all, but I saw a lot. You died, Harry,” Alice said brokenly. “You died,” she repeated.

“Just for a little while,” Harry sobbed.

“Even a little while is too long,” Alice said. “Edward went crazy when he saw my vision. It took Jasper and Emmett both to keep him from rushing to Scotland. Luckily, an hour after I got the vision of you dying, I got a vision of you alive and defeating Voldemort. How? What happened?”

Harry finally lifted his face, his eyes red from crying. “I don’t want to talk about it, at least not now. I can’t believe you’re here.”

Smiling, Alice cupped Harry’s cheek. “Of course we are here. Did you think we would let you walk home?”

“We?” Harry asked as he leaned into Alice’s cold hand.

“Turn around, Harry,” Alice instructed.

Turning, Harry started to cry even harder when he saw Carlisle and Esme waiting for him with arms wide open. “Mom! Dad!” He cried as he flew into their arms.

Harry had been a broken and scared just turned eight year old when he first met Carlisle and Esme. For his birthday his Uncle Vernon decided to beat him to within an inch of his life. He actually would have died had the wards Dumbledore placed on him as an infant not warned him that he was dying. Knowing that he couldn’t leave him with the Dursleys anymore or take him to St. Mungo’s for healing, Dumbledore had taken him to an old friend of his that was a muggle doctor that knew of the supernatural world. Even though Carlisle had been extremely kind and gentle with him, he had been terrified those first few months. He had only ever known hate and pain, he didn’t know how to react to kindness and love. And it had turned into love. Carlisle and Esme grew to love him like a son and he had loved them as if they were his parents. It had destroyed him when Dumbledore showed up on his eleventh birthday to inform him that he had to go to Hogwarts and that he wouldn’t be allowed to return to his family. He had been allowed to send letters, but that was all.

“Harry!” Esme said in awe as she took in her youngest. “You have gotten so tall.”

Despite his tears, Harry laughed. “I have barely grown, mom. I’m only 5’7, the smallest in my year. Both Ron and Hermione are taller than me.”

“But you weren’t even five foot when you left, dear. You are awfully skinny though, have you been taking care of yourself.”

“No,” Harry laughed wetly. “I was on the run the last year and living in a tent, food was the least of our worries,”

“Oh my baby,” Esme crooned. “Don’t worry, I managed fatten you up once before, I can do it again.”

Carlisle cupped the back of Harry’s head. “Son, how are you doing?” He asked, his voice thick with emotion.

Harry looked into his father’s golden eyes. “Not good, but I know being home will help me heal. I missed you all.”

“And we have missed you,” Carlisle said. “The rest of the family are at home eagerly waiting to see you.”

“They all wanted to come, but we didn’t want to overwhelm you,” Alice explained as she threw her arm over Harry’s shoulder. “And you know how Jasper struggles when around so many humans.”

“Why didn’t you tell us you were coming?” Carlisle asked curiously as he led the group out of the airport.

Harry bit his lip nervously. “I-I don’t know. I guess I was scared that you would say no.”

Stopping, Carlisle turned back to look at Harry. “Why would we say no? You’re our son, Harry.”

Harry shrugged. “I’m a magnet for trouble,” he answered in a small voice. “There may also still be some Death Eaters hunting me and I’m having a bit of an issue with my magic.”

“What kind of an issue?” Carlisle asked, but then he held his hand up. “You know what, none of that matters right now. All that matters is that you are home where you belong and we are all thrilled.”

Harry felt like his heart was going to burst. It had been seven years since he’d seen the Cullens and he couldn’t believe that they still loved him and wanted him. He had people that loved him in the wizarding world, but this was different. This was family. Yeah Ron and the Weasleys were family, same with Hermione, but this was the first family to ever love him. The last time he felt this kind of love was with Sirius, but he had only gotten a short time with Sirius before he died. He was so happy to be back with the Cullens and already his magic was starting to feel more settled. He wasn’t about to try any spells, not yet anyway, but his magic didn’t feel like it was about to explode out of his chest.

***HP

Harry was in awe of the house when they pulled up to it. When he had lived with Cullens before they had lived in England, but when the war had started to kick off after his fourth year, Dumbledore had demanded that they move to America incase Voldemort found about them and used them to get to him.

“This place is magnificent and perfect,” Harry gushed. “I love how secluded it is and I love the forest. Are there any magical creatures in it?”

Alice started giggling madly. “Just some smelly wolves. Come on, there’s someone I want you to meet,” she cried excitedly as she grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the car.

“Alice,” Carlisle scolded, “let Harry reconnect with his brothers and Rose before introducing him to Bella.”

“Bella?” Harry asked as he allowed Alice to drag him towards the door.

“You’re going to love her,” Alice gushed, “she’s…”

“Squirt!” A loud voice boomed from behind.

Harry squeaked loudly when massive arms wrapped around him, lifting him off the ground. Thankfully he had been expecting something like this from Emmett so he didn’t react and accidentally curse him. After the past few years of constantly fighting for his life, he tended to be more of a curse first ask questions later, kinda guy.

“You’re still a small fry,” Emmett chuckled in his ear.

“Not everyone can be a mountain like you,” Harry giggled.

Emmett gently lowered Harry to the ground. “Look at you all grown up. Is that hair on your chin? Lucky bastard, I can’t grow facial hair.”

Blushing, Harry ran his hand over his face. He could feel a few wiry hairs, but he hasn’t grown any new hairs since he came into possession of the Hallows. The last time he shaved was right before the battle and that was months ago. Something that was concerning to him as before he came in possession of the Hallows, he had to shave at least three times a week. Not a lot, not like Ron’s daily need to shave, but he had always been behind thanks to his relative’s neglect.

Rosalie appeared behind Emmett. With a scowl, she slapped her mate on the shoulder. “Stop picking on the baby, you big bully.”

“Baby? Rose, I’m eighteen.”

Stepping around her mate, Rosalie leaned in and hugged Harry. “You could be a hundred and twenty and you’d still be our baby.”

Feeling his eyes start to sting with more tears, Harry melted into his sister. He loved all the Cullens, they were his family, but those first few months when he woke multiple times a night screaming with nightmares, Rose was always there sitting next to him running her fingers through his sweaty hair. She also had the most angelic singing voice and she would always sing him back to sleep. “I missed this,” he whispered in her ear. “Am I too old for one of your lullabies?”

“You’re never too old for one. You’re not leaving again are you? Do we get to keep you now?”

“I have no intention of moving back to the wizarding world. I’ll visit Ron and Hermione and the rest of the Weasleys, but you guys are my home.”

“That makes me so happy to hear. It has been awfully dull and boring around here without you.”

“I don’t know about that,” Emmett snorted. “Bella has brought some drama to the family.”

“Bella?” Harry asked again.

Rosalie narrowed her eyes at her mate. “Bella is not family!” She snapped.

Emmett held his hands up in surrender. “Sorry, babe.”

Harry was getting ready to ask again who Bella was when Edward came walking out of the house holding hands with a human girl with brown hair and brown eyes. To say he was surprised to see Edward with a girl would be an understatement, but what surprised him even more was the jolt to the chest his magic gave him at seeing Edward. Gasping, he placed his hand over his heart when his heart started racing.

Frowning, Edward’s eyes dropped to Harry’s chest. “Harry, are you alright?”

Harry took a couple of deep shaky breaths begging his heart to stop trying to beat out of his chest. “Yeah, I’m fine, it’s just been a tough couple of years and I’m really happy to be home.”

Releasing Bella’s hand, Edward walked up to Harry and pulled him into a hug. “I’m so happy you are home too. We can all rest easier now knowing that you are safe. You are safe now, right?”

Harry shrugged. “Eh, that’s a tough question that I’m not yet ready to answer.”

“Edward,” Bella called from behind Edward.

Stepping back, Edward grinned over his shoulder at his future mate. “Bella, I’d like to introduce you to my little brother, Harry. Don’t let his sweet and innocent looking face fool you, he’s more of a trouble magnet than you are.”

“Hey!” Harry cried indignantly.

“You’re human!” Bella blurted out in shock.

Harry raised an eyebrow. “Well spotted. Can’t get anything past you, can I?”

Shaking her head, Rosalie rolled her eyes. “You’re human too, Isabella.”

Bella’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. I only just learned about you, but Edward didn’t tell me you were human. I thought I was the first human they told their secret to.”

“Bella, Harry isn’t exactly…”

“Edward!” Carlisle said sharply. “You broke our rules once by telling Bella what we are, it’s not your place to reveal Harry’s secrets.”

Edward looked like he wanted to argue, but he wisely closed his mouth and inclined his head. “You’re right. Forgive me, Harry.”

Waving Edward off, Harry stepped closer to Bella and held his hand out. “I’m Harry Potter. Carlisle and Esme took me in when I was eight when it was discovered that my home life wasn’t exactly healthy.”

“Bella Swan,” Bella introduced, reaching her out to grasp Harry’s hand. Right before Bella’s hand touched Harry’s, Edward struck out and grabbed Harry’s hand, yanking it away from Bella’s. Everyone froze in shock when a loud snap was heard followed by a pain filled cry from Harry as he fell to his knees. Whimpering, Harry pulled his injured hand to his chest as he looked up at Edward with wide, disbelieving eyes.

“Edward!” Carlisle cried in horror as he rushed to Harry’s side.

“I-I don’t know why I did that,” Edward choked out as he looked down at his own hand like it had betrayed him.

Kneeling in front of Harry, Carlisle held out his hand. “Let me see.”

Still staring at Edward in shock, Harry shook his head no. “It’s…it’s fine, dad. I’m alright.”

“No you’re not,” Carlisle said soothingly. “We all heard the snap, Harry, we know something broke.”

Harry finally took his eyes off of Edward, who was refusing to look at him, to look at his dad. “I’m pretty sure more than one something broke.”

Carlisle sighed. “That’s what I’m afraid of. I’m going to have to take you to the hospital for an X-ray.”

Harry scrunched his face up. “Can’t you just cast it here?”

“I’m afraid not, son. I need to make sure that the bones are just broke and not crushed.”

With her hand over her mouth, Bella stepped next to Edward and placed her other hand on his chest. “He wasn’t going to hurt me, Edward. We were just going to shake hands.”

Edward flinched away from Bella. “I…that’s not why...” Clenching his teeth, he turned and fled

Lips pursed, Jasper looked curiously between Harry and Bella. “Curious,” he muttered under his breath.

“Jaz?” Alice questioned.

Jasper shook his head. “It’s nothing.”

Wrapping his arm around Harry, Carlisle helped his son to stand. “I’m sorry this happened. I don’t know what came over Edward.”

“I think he was afraid that you would hurt me,” Bella said sadly.

Jasper smirked. “That’s not the feelings I was getting from him.”

Harry whimpered when pain shot from his wrist all the way up to his neck. He didn’t understand what he did to cause Edward to lash out and hurt him, but this wasn’t exactly the homecoming he had been expecting. He had been looking forward to reconnecting with his family and relaxing, but instead he was going to the hospital to get a broken wrist patched up. Sure, he could go to the nearest wizarding district to get a healer to patch up him in seconds, but that was the last thing he wanted to do. He didn’t want anyone from the wizarding world to know that he was here. Nope, this broken wrist was going to have to heal the muggle way.

“Green? Really, dad?”

Carlisle chuckled as he put the finishing touches on his son’s cast. “Son, we both know that you’re more Slytherin than Gryffindor.”

“Have the twins been writing to you?” Harry asked jokingly. The only ones who knew of the Cullens and how they raised him for three years were the Weasleys and Hermione, but they had never met his family. He had written plenty of letters home about his friends so his dad knew all about the famous, troublemaking Weasley twins. “They’re always telling me that I should have been a Slytherin. As if they aren't the most Slytherin of all the Gryffindors. I don’t know how they managed to trick the Sorting Hat.”

“I hope there comes a time that your friends can visit. I would very much like to meet them all, especially Fred and George.”

“Fred, George, and Emmett in the same house together…that’s just asking for trouble, dad,” Harry snorted. Sobering, he tried to wiggle his fingers that were trapped in his green cast. “Why do you think he did it?”

Carlisle leaned back in his chair, his brows furrowed. “Edward has been struggling with his attraction to Isabella Swan. Her blood calls to him like no other causing him to be overprotective of her. It is hard to be around your mate and not claim them, but Edward refuses to turn her.”

“Her blood calls to him?” Harry repeated thoughtfully. “Dad, that sounds more like she’s Edward’s singer, not mate. A vampire isn’t supposed to crave their mate’s blood, even while they are still human.”

“I have said as much to Edward, but he is adamant that Bella is his mate.”

“But why lash out at me when it was Bella reaching for me? I don’t know, something just doesn’t feel right.”

“I will be having a talk with Edward when we get home. Will you be afraid to move back with us now because of this incident?”

Harry shook his head no. “After what I have been through the past few years, it will take a lot more than Edward losing control to scare me.”

Carlisle got to his feet. “Your know that we are going to have a talk about what happened after you have gotten settled in and rested. Alice saw some of what you suffered through, but I’m sure there is a lot we don’t know.”

Harry grimaced at that. He really didn’t want to relive everything that happened, but his family deserved to know the truth. He knew that they had to have been sick with worry for him, especially the last year when he wasn’t able to send any letters.

A young nurse rushed into the exam room. “Dr. Cullen, I know you’re not on the clock, but there was a bad car accident with multiple casualties and we could really use your help. They will be here any minute.”

Looking grim, Carlisle nodded his head. “Of course, Nurse Mary, I will be there as soon as I see my son settled in my office.”

Looking startled, Nurse Mary looked to Harry. “Your son, Dr. Cullen, but I thought you only had three sons?”

“Not now, Mary.” Carlisle said. After the nurse left, Carlisle looked back to Harry. “I’m sorry about this. I’ll text Emmett to see if he can pick you up, in the mean time you can wait in my office. Do you need anything for the pain?” He asked, pointing to Harry’s cast.

Harry was in pain, but he didn’t want to take any drugs. He knew that muggle pain pills could mess with your head, that was the last thing that he needed, especially with his magic behaving wonky. “I’m fine. If it’s alright with you, I’d like to walk the town for a little while. Kind of decompress.”

Carlisle looked at his watch. “It’s going to be dark soon, are you sure?”

“I’m not afraid of the dark, dad.”

Carlisle made a humming sound. “I remember when you were. Do you have a cell phone?”

“I have a magic mirror, but not a cell phone,” Harry chuckled. “I’ll be fine, dad, I just need to burn off some adrenaline. You know me, I’m not good with sitting around and it was a long flight. If I want to have any chance of sleeping tonight I’m going to have to tire myself out.”

Carlisle still looked uncertain, but he gave in. “You’re eighteen now, not a little boy. Stay out of trouble and if you get lost just stay put and we will be able to track you.”

“What is it with you and Ron thinking I get into trouble. I’m an angel.”

Reaching out, Carlisle ran his fingers through Harry’s hair. “Just as I suspected…horn nubs.”

Harry gasped dramatically. “I do not have horns! Take that back!”

Carlisle’s grin was blinding. “God I have missed you, son. I’m so glad you’re home.”

“Me too, dad. There were a few times where I didn’t think I was going to make it.”

Cupping his son’s face with both hands, Carlisle leaned in and placed a kiss on his forehead. “Never again will we let you fight any battles without us at your side.” Hearing his name being paged, he stepped away from Harry. “I will see you in a few hours. Stay safe.”

Blowing out a loud breath, Harry turned in a circle to look around before plopping down on the side of the road in a huff. “Fifteen miles didn’t seem that far eight miles ago,” he panted to himself. After he left the hospital he had spotted a sign for La Push Beach and it said it was only fifteen miles away. At the time fifteen miles didn’t seem all that far, not enough to deter him from seeing the ocean, but now it felt like he was trying to complete the world’s longest marathon. You’d think after years of climbing the moving staircases at Hogwarts and then a year on the run he would be extremely fit and more than capable of jogging fifteen miles, but he was exhausted, dripping in sweat, and his lungs felt like they were going to explode out of his chest. There was no way he was going to make it the rest of the way.

Dropping his face into his knees, he was contemplating risking apparating back home, even though he wasn’t positive of the location and there was a better than good chance that his magic would lash out and splinch him into a dozen pieces, when he heard a car approach and stop next to him.

“Hey, you alright, man?”

Groaning, Harry reluctantly lifted his head. “I’m not dead yet,” he answered tiredly. “But I may have left a lung a mile or two back.” He couldn’t see the driver of the truck very well, but he had sounded young.

The old truck door made a loud creaking sound when it opened then footsteps were heard as the driver of the truck walked around it to stop in front of Harry. “You’re not from around here are you?”

Harry squinted up at the extremely muscular guy who wasn’t wearing a shirt, just a pair of cutoff jeans. Feeling his magic start to tingle under his skin, he got to his feet, his hand brushing over his wand that was in his pocket. He didn’t think this guy was a threat, not with how pleasantly his magic was tingling for him, but his magic has been less than reliable lately. “Was it the glasses that gave me away?” He asked jokingly.

The guy chuckled. “Nah, man, it’s your accent.”

Harry couldn’t help but notice that the guy was extremely good looking, like hot as hell good looking, and that he was of some kind of Native American decent. He didn’t know much about Native Americans or all the different tribes, but he wouldn’t be adverse to this guy educating him. Blushing at his thoughts, Harry smiled at him. “Yeah, I guess you don’t hear too much of my accent around here.”

“Are you lost?” The guy asked in concern. “Do you need any help?”

Despite being eighteen, Harry had never had a girlfriend or boyfriend, he had been too busy fighting for his life, but he was pretty sure that the guy was checking him out. He had never had anyone look at him the way this guy was looking at him. “I’m not sure if I’m lost or not, but I also have no clue where I’m at. I saw a sign for La Push Beach and thought it would be cool to see, I just underestimated how far fifteen miles was and overestimated my fitness and endurance. I think eight miles is my limit.”

“Five,” the guy corrected with a smirk. “If you’re talking about the La Push sign in Forks, you have only come five miles.”

Harry’s mouth dropped opened in disbelief. “There’s no way, I had to have come at least eight miles. I can’t be this tired after only five miles.”

The guy pointed to Harry’s cast. “That looks like a fresh injury, it could be taking more out of you than what you think.”

Pouting, Harry looked down at the cast. “Well that sucks. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to visit the beach another day. I have gone this long without ever seeing the ocean, what’s a few more days.”

The guy shifted awkwardly on his feet. “I could take you. I mean, I have to drive past the beach anyway.”

Harry’s eyes lit up. “Really? You wouldn’t mind?”

“Yeah, man, it’s no problem,” the guy grinned.

Harry wouldn’t normally hop in a stranger’s car, but his magic was pulling him towards this guy. Walking up to him, he held out his good hand. “I’m Harry Potter.”

“Jacob Black,” the guy said, taking Harry’s hand, only for his eyes to widen.

Harry gasped when the second their hands touched what felt like an electrical current raced up his arm and, judging by the widening of Jacob’s eyes, he felt it too. “Did you feel that?” He asked a little breathlessly,

Panting slightly, Jacob nodded his head. “What was that?”

Harry knew that it had something to do with his magic, but he couldn’t tell Jacob that. He had no clue why his magic reacted that way, but he’d be asking Hermione the second he could get alone with his mirror. “I have no idea. That was really strange.”

***HP

Shit! Shit! Shit! Jacob couldn’t believe that this was happening, that he was holding hands with his imprint. His imprint! How the hell did that happen? How did he imprint on another dude? He had nothing against gay people, he had just never seen himself as gay. Granted, it’s not like he had a lot of experience, but he had always found the female form extremely attractive, especially Bella’s.

Bella! He had stupidly believed that Bella was his imprint even though he never experienced that gravity pulling, all consuming need to be whatever she needed that the other guys in the pack felt when first meeting their imprints. Not like what he felt the instant he made eye contact with this guy. As soon as he saw those emerald green eyes, he had felt his entire world shift and this guy, this stranger, became the most important person in the world to him. He would be anything, do anything for this stranger…for his soul mate.

Jacob had to bite back a whine when his soul mate pulled his hand away. He never wanted to let him go, Harry was now his everything. Clearing his throat, he pointed to the old beat up truck he was restoring. “She ain’t much, but she’ll get you to La Push. I’m working on restoring her so I can sell her. I’m really good with cars.” Internally groaning, he closed his eyes. God, he must look stupid rambling about cars to his imprint.

Harry looked over Jacob’s shoulder to the truck. “That’s pretty awesome. I don’t know anything about cars really, I don’t even know how to drive one.”

“No shit!” Jacob gasped. “Dude, how old are you?”

“Eighteen, but I have been away at boarding school in Scotland since I was eleven and the school I attended was a bit unconventional. We didn’t have cars or computers or anything.”

Jacob looked at his imprint in disbelief. “Cellphones?” He asked.

Grinning, Harry shook his head no. “Nope, but I’m sure I’ll be getting one soon. I just flew in today, I haven't even been in Fork’s for two hours.”

Jacob motioned for Harry to follow him to the truck. “That’s pretty crazy. I couldn’t imagine not having a phone or a car. Why are you in Forks?”

Harry climbed into the truck, not commenting on how beat up the inside looked with it’s sun faded dashboard and ripped up seats being held together with duct tape.. “My family moved here while I was away.”

Jacob frowned. “Your family moved away while you were at boarding school? How long have they been here? Did they at least visit you?”

“I believe they have been here for two years now, and they couldn’t visit me. Please don’t ask why?” Harry quickly added when Jacob opened his mouth.

Grinning, Jacob started up the truck and started to drive. “Sorry if I’m asking too many questions, I have just never met anyone like you. My dad also likes to say that I’m too curios for my own good. So how did you break your wrist.”

“It was an accident,” Harry said with a sigh. “Sometimes my brothers forget how strong they are and how breakable I am. He didn’t mean it and I’m sure he’s beating himself up over it. I probably should have went home after I got patched up to reassure him everything was good, but I wanted to explore Forks. I’ve never been to America.”

Jacob had a thousand questions, the top on the list was the brother’s name so he could beat the shit out of him for hurting his imprint, but he didn’t want to come off as too nosy and scare Harry away. The second question he wanted to ask was why the hell did he reek of leech? The Cullens stink was all over Harry and it had his wolf furious. “So you were at Forks hospital?”

“Yup!”

That explained the leech stink. Harry’s doctor had probably been Carlisle. “I’m sorry about your wrist.”

Smiling softly, Harry looked to Jacob. “Thanks, but I have always been accident prone. I also have a tendency to attract trouble, so you may want to avoid me after you drop me off at the beach.”

“I’m not afraid of trouble. Maybe I should glue myself to your side so I can save you from breaking anymore bones.”

Harry was saved from responding to what could only be Jacob’s flirting when the ocean came into view. “Oh Merlin, it’s amazing?”

Raising an eyebrow, Jacob looked at Harry strangely. “Merlin?”

Harry waved Jacob off like it was nothing. “School joke,” he said as way of covering up his slip. Opening the door, he jumped out of the truck. “I can’t believe I’m finally getting to see the ocean.”

“I can’t believe you have never seen the ocean before.”

Tilting his head back, Harry breathed in deeply. “I have heard stories about the smell of ocean saltwater, but I thought my friend Hermione had been having one over on me when she said it smelled amazing.”

Jacob snorted. “Just don’t go sniffing the air if there are any dead fish on the beach, especially a whale.”

Harry spun around to face Jacob, his eyes full of wonder. “There’s whales? I can see whales?”

Jacob struggled to swallow the lump in his throat as he stared longingly at Harry. “Oh yeah, you can see a lot of gray whales and orcas. I actually know a really good area to go to see whales. I can take you.”

Groaning, Harry sadly shook his head no. “I’d love to, but I didn’t tell anyone that I was coming here and I don’t want my family to worry about me. Another time?” He asked hopefully, desperate to see a whale.

“Yeah!” Jacob quickly answered. “Anytime you want. I’m still in school, a senior, but I’m free after school and on weekends.”

Harry found his heart skipping a few beats at the eager look in Jacob’s eyes. What was happening here? Did this guy like him? He had felt something with his magic when they first touched, something that he didn’t understand but was planning on talking to Hermione about. “How old are you?” He asked, shocked that Jacob was still in school. He looked so much older than a high schooler.

“Seventeen, but I’ll be eighteen in a few months.”

“You look…” Harry paused for a minute as his eyes dropped to Jacob’s sculpted chest, “good for a seventeen year old.”

Jacob smirked. “Yeah, you think so?”

Harry’s face heated. “Anyway,” he said awkwardly, “I better get heading back before my family sends out a search party.”

Jacob frowned. “You don’t plan on walking back do you?”

“Well, I’d fly my magic broom home, but I left it in England,” Harry said jokingly.

Shaking his head, Jacob motioned for Harry to follow him. “Come on, I’ll drive you back.”

“Oh, I can’t ask you to do that, you have already gone out of your way for me.”

“It’s no problem, I have nothing else planned and I like talking to you.”

“If you’re sure?” Harry said uncertainly as he rushed to catch up with Jacob.

Looking over his shoulder, Jacob winked at Harry. “I’m sure. This way we can make plans to meet again. You want to see those whales don’t you?”

Blushing, Harry nodded his head. “I’d love to see the whales.”

Jumping into his truck, Jacob started it then turned to Harry. “What’s the address?”

Rubbing the back of his neck, Harry shrugged. “I had the address written down with my stuff, but it’s back at the house. Just drop me off at the hospital.”

“No phone. No address. You’re a mystery, Harry Potter.”

“I have been called worse.” Harry chuckled.

Harry took a seat on a bench outside the hospital after Jacob drove away. It had been kind of sweet, Jacob had wanted to wait with him to get picked up because he didn’t want to leave him alone. As if he couldn’t take care of himself. Chuckling to himself, he leaned back against the bench and closed his eyes. Despite the long journey and broken wrist, it had been a pretty awesome day. He was finally home with his family and he had made a new friend.

Feeling someone take a seat next to him, Harry opened his eyes, not at all surprised to find Edward sitting next to him staring at him with the most tortured look on his face. “I’m not mad at you.”

“You should be,” Edward said, his voice cracking.

“Well I’m not,” Harry stressed. “Did you forget that I’m a wizard who understands creatures? You were just protecting your unclaimed mate. I get it, you didn’t want me to touch her.”

Edward flinched. “That’s…that’s not it. It wasn’t you, it was Bella. I didn’t want her to touch you.”

Harry stared up Edward not understanding. “I don’t understand.”

Edward stared at Harry as though he was searching for something. “I can no longer read your mind.”

“Good, that means all my hard work has paid off,” Harry said proudly, remembering all the hours he spent being tortured by Snape in order to learn how to block his mind. “Is that a bad thing?”

Frowning, Edward continued to stare at Harry. “I don’t know. Bella is the only person I have ever not been able to read.”

Harry wanted to point out that singers were immune to a vampire’s gift, but Edward was already looking tortured enough. “Sorry, Edward, but you’re going to have to get use to it. I’m not going to drop my shields. My thoughts are my own.”

Reaching out, Edward gently took Harry’s broken wrist in his. “I’m so sorry, Harry. I never meant to hurt you. I would never…” Freezing, Edward wrinkled his nose. “Where have you been. You smell…”

“Oh, I went to La Push,” Harry said excitedly. “I finally got to see the ocean and it was amazing. I’m going to go back in a few days to see whales. Do you want come with me?”

“You went to La Push?” Edward bit out.

“Yes,” Harry said cautiously, sensing Edward’s building anger. “Is that a problem?”

Before Edward could answer, Alice came flying up in her little red sports car. “Hop in, Harry!” She said excitedly, though her voice didn’t match the look in her eyes. She was smiling, but also glaring at Edward at the same time.

Shaking his head, Harry got to his feet. “I know what you’re doing,” he said to the two of them. “You saw something, Alice, and you’re pissed at Edward over what you saw so you’re scolding him in your head. Whatever, I don’t care. I just want to go home and get some sleep. Some of us in this family are humans and need their beauty sleep.”

Too stunned to move, Edward remained sitting on the bench long after Harry and Alice left. If Alice hadn’t showed when she had, he would have attacked Harry again. He didn’t want to believe it, but he had seen it in Alice’s head. He couldn’t believe that he would have attacked his little brother all because he smelled like Jacob Black.

God damn Jacob Black! Had he been around Harry or had Harry just picked up his scent because he had been at La Push Beach? He had argued with Carlisle for hours about warning Harry about the wolves, but their treaty forbade them from telling anyone about their existence, same as it forbade the wolves from telling the humans about them. Harry was going to have to learn about the wolves on his own.

What was it about Harry that had him so messed up in the head? He loved his little brother and he had mourned him for years after Dumbledore forced him to return to the wizarding world, so why had he broken his wrist and almost attacked him again? The scary thing was, he didn’t even remember breaking Harry’s wrist. It was like he blacked out for a second and when he came back to himself Harry was on the ground in pain. He had seen vampires lose themselves to the beast within them, but he had never lost control before, at least not like that.

Hearing his cell ring, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and saw that Bella was calling him. Normally he’d answer her call immediately, but something had him hesitating. Why had his vampire taken over to stop Bella from touching Harry? Bella thought he had reacted to protect her, but he was pretty sure it was the other way around.

Getting to his feet, he decided to go visit Bella instead of answering her call. What he needed now was his mate and some time to think.

Harry stumbled into the kitchen feeling more like a zombie than a wizard. Seeing his mom at the stove, he walked up to her and hugged her. “Good morning, mom. My wand for some coffee.”

Rolling her eyes, she pointed to a fancy coffee machine on the counter. “You’re lucky, your father was gifted that by a politician whose life he saved.”

Yawning, Harry made his way to the complicated looking machine. After spending a few minutes pressing buttons, he looked to his mom then stuck his bottom lip out in a pout. “Do you have any idea how to work it?”

Giggling, Esme pointed to a drawer. “Instructions are in there.”

Frowning at the drawer, Harry shook his head no. “I don’t have the energy to read a complicated instruction booklet, maybe after I have had a cup of coffee.” Pulling out his wand, he looked wearily down at it.

“I thought you said you have been having issues with your magic,” Carlisle said, having entered the kitchen.

Looking sheepish, Harry gave a shrug. “I unshrunk my trunk last night without blowing anything up or setting the house on fire.”

Carlisle raised an eyebrow. “Have you been blowing things up or setting them on fire often?”

“Kind of,” Harry admitted, his face turning red, “along with a few other things. Ever since I took possession of the Hallows my magic has been acting up.” Despite his exhaustion last night, he had told his family a little bit about his past year, the war, and the Deathly Hallows and how they were messing with his magic.

“Maybe you shouldn’t try magic on the coffee machine. From my understanding it cost over three thousand dollars.” Carlisle said. “I’ll text Edward and have him bring you home some coffee from Starbucks.”

“I don’t want to put him out,” Harry quickly said.

Picking his phone up from the counter, Carlisle sent off a quick text. “You know it’s no bother, Harry. Besides, Edward has to come home and get dressed for school.”

Harry started snickering. “Edward’s still in high school. Oh, that’s so funny.”

“Laugh it up, twerp,” Emmett yelled from the other room. “Maybe I should text Eddie and tell him that you’re making fun of him. Let’s see how eager he is to bring you that coffee.”

“You wouldn’t!” Harry cried in horror. “My own brother ratting me out. Where’s the loyalty?”

“Harry, only Edward, Jasper, and Alice are still in school, Emmett and Rosalie graduated a few months ago. They have offered to take you into Port Angeles after you have eaten to buy you a cellphone and whatever else you need.” Esme explained as she placed a plate of pancakes on the counter in front of him.

“I have my own money,” Harry said anxiously, not wanting to be a burden. “I’m actually exceptionally rich thanks to inheriting my family vaults as well as the Black vaults.”

Carlisle and Esme smiled indulgently at Harry. “That’s nice, dear, but you are our son and we want to provide for you,” Esme explained.

Emmett and Rosalie came walking into the kitchen. “Dude, we have more money than what we could ever spend.” Emmett said. “Our money is your money. We are family.”

Feeling a bit overwhelmed, Harry jerkily nodded his head. “Alright. Thank you.”

“You don’t have to thank us,” Esme said softly. “And you’re more than welcome to buy a new coffee maker, perhaps one with less bells and whistles.”

Harry looked back at the hi-tech coffee maker. “No, I’m not going to let a machine intimidate me. I’ll have her figured out before tomorrow morning. Something that expensive has to make amazing coffee.”

Alice came walking into the kitchen looking a bit worried. “Edward and Bella will be here in a couple minutes.”

Harry frowned at his sister. “Is everything alright? Where has Edward been anyway?”

Snorting, Rosalie rolled her eyes. “Edward is a stalker. He spends most nights standing over Bella watching her sleep.”

Harry looked at each of his family members in disbelief. “You’re joking?”

“Nope!” Rosalie sniffed. “Edward is obsessed with the human.”

“Does Bella know that Edward does that?”

“She proclaims that she can’t sleep without him. It’s disturbing.”

Harry wanted to agree with Rosalie, that was disturbing and unhealthy, but it also wasn’t any of his business. He couldn’t help but think that Hermione would flay Ron alive if he creeped on her sleep like that. “I agree that it’s strange, but if Bella is consenting then who are we to ick on their yum.”

Emmett threw his head back howling with laughter. “Ah, baby brother, I have missed you.”

Still looking concerned, Alice walked up to Harry and took his hand, the one that was in the cast. “Harry, please be careful around Edward.”

“Alice, have you seen something?” Carlisle asked worriedly.

Alice bit her bottom lip as her eyes darted around the room. “Nothing today, but yesterday I had a vision of Edward attacking Harry at the hospital and it was bad. I don’t know what’s going on with him, but for some reason he has been losing control and Harry has already been hurt once.”

Leaning forward, Harry kissed his sister’s cheek. “Don’t worry about me, Alice, I can take care of myself. I’m a wizard, remember?”

“What are you going to do, set yourself on fire?” Emmett joked.

Frowning, Alice tapped gently on Harry’s cast. “Harry, you know how fast we are, even more so Edward. He broke your wrist before any of us could even react. Next time it could be your neck.”

Harry shrugged. “I guess that would be one way to test out whether or not the Hallows has made me immortal.”

“Coffee delivery,” Edward announced as he walked into the kitchen carrying two coffees in a carrier with Bella at his side. “I wasn’t sure what you like so I got a regular black and Bella ordered you one with lots of sugar and syrups. I don’t exactly know what it is.”

Rushing to Edward, Harry grabbed the carrier and took a sip of each coffee. “If there’s coffee in it, I will drink it,” he moaned.

Edward tensed and his eyes darkened when Harry moaned. Having been closely monitoring Edward’s emotions, Jasper stepped between his brothers. “If we don’t leave now, we’re going to be late.” He said tightly, as he started pushing Edward back out of the kitchen.

Having missed Edward’s reaction to his moaning and Jasper’s interference because his back had been turned at the time, Harry called out. “Thanks, Edward and Bella, for the coffee, I really appreciate it. You’re a life saver.”

“No, pretty sure that’s Jasper,” Emmett growled as he glared at Edward. He hadn’t missed how Edward reacted towards Harry.

“Edward, I want to talk you directly after school so please come straight home,” Carlisle ordered sternly.

His eyes briefly glancing towards Harry, Edward nodded his head then left the kitchen.

Emmett dropped out of the tree and landed right in front of Harry. “I have the hose hooked up, but this damn place rains so much I doubt anything will be able to catch fire.”

Harry balanced the Elder wand in his good hand as he looked down at it feeling a bit anxious. His magic had been a little more settled ever since arriving in Forks, but he still didn’t trust it. He knew that it really wasn’t his magic that was causing issues, but the combined power of his magic and the magic of the Hallows. There was so much unknown about the Hallows, just a kids fairy tale that may or may not be true. He knew that the Hallows were extremely powerful magic, not only could he feel the magic deep into his soul, but he had destroyed both the wand and the stone and they both returned to him within hours completely intact.

As if reading his thoughts, Emmett asked. “Do you think you’re immortal?”

Sighing heavily, Harry took a seat on a large boulder. Him and Emmett were currently in the backyard a little ways away from the house seeing as he was going to try some magic and he didn’t want to risk setting the house on fire. “According to the tale, whoever possesses all three Hallows become master over Death. Three of the most powerful wizards, Gellert Grindewald, Albus Dumbledore, and Lord Voldemort believed that the Hallows would grant you immortality.”

“You died, but then you came back to life,” Emmett pointed out with a frown.

“I was hit with the killing curse again and I did die for a short while.” Harry agreed. “I also haven’t aged. I know it’s only been a few months since the battle, but I haven’t grown any facial hair since I gained the Hallows. I didn’t have to shave everyday, but if I didn’t shave every couple of days I’d start to look scruffy and dirty. I haven’t shaved since the day before the battle.”

Emmett sat down next to Harry. “Okay, that’s weird. Will it be a bad thing if you’re immortal?”

Harry was quiet for a minute before answering. “It’s scary.” He admitted truthfully. “The thought of watching Ron and Hermione grow old and die while I stay frozen in an eighteen year old’s body is bloody terrifying.”

Smirking, Emmett bumped his shoulder against his Harry’s. “I wouldn’t know anything about that,” he said jokingly.

Harry smiled, but his smile didn’t truly reach his eyes. “I have never been afraid of death. There have been multiple times where I was close to death and I never felt any fear. I never expected to survive the war. Hell, I wasn’t even supposed to. I had to sacrifice myself in order for Voldemort to be defeated. I willingly walked to my death. I was scared to leave my friends and loved ones behind while the battle was still going on, but I wasn’t afraid to die. I think living is more scarier than dying.”

“Man, that’s deep,” Emmett said seriously. “At least you won’t be alone.”

Harry rested his head on Emmett’s shoulder. “True, but I’m not going to repeat high school like you all. I would literally lose my mind.”

Emmett chuckled. “You’ll find being immortal gets pretty damn boring. Going to high school is entertaining.”

“That’s just sad,” Harry snickered.

Standing up, Emmett playfully glowered down at Harry. “What’s sad is being a wizard who can only blow shit up or set things on fire.”

“Ouch! That’s rude,” Harry pouted.

“Then prove me wrong,” Emmett challenged.

Sliding off the boulder, Harry stood up and shook his wand arm out, giving a little startled cry when sparks shot out of his wand.

“Was that supposed to happen?” Emmett asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Harry narrowed his eyes. “What do you think?”

Emmett shrugged. “I’m just a poor vampire forced to spend eternity in high school.” Bending down, he picked up the hose. “What are you going to do first?”

Blowing out a loud breath, Harry looked around. “How about I levitate the boulder?” He asked, pointing to the boulder they had been sitting on.

Emmett raised a skeptical eyebrow. “Maybe you should start off with something smaller.”

Shoulders slumping, Harry nodded his head. “Yeah, you’re probably right.” Looking around, he spotted a large tree branch. Pointing the Elder wand at it, he said firmly, “Wingardium Leviosa!”

Rubbing his hands together in anticipation, Emmett whispered, “Here we go.”

Harry could feel the power of the Hallows trying to control his magic and overwhelm him. With his heart pounding in his chest and sweat beading on his forehead, he watched as the branch lifted off the ground only to hover about five feet for a few seconds before launching straight up into the sky like a rocket.”

“NASA, we have liftoff!” Emmett boomed loudly as he stared up into the sky with a massive grin on his face until he could no longer see the branch.

Feeling shaky, Harry slumped against the boulder, his face pale. “Let’s hope that didn’t hit an airplane.”

“Or a spaceship.”

“I can’t control my magic as well as the Hallow’s power,” Harry said shakily.

Emmett pursed his lips thoughtfully. “After I turned, it took years for me to learn to control my new strength and speed. I lost count of how many houses I destroyed my first year. I’m not talking about a wall here or there, I’m talking houses fully knocked off their foundations. Cut yourself some slack. Oh, I have an idea. Maybe what you need is a girlfriend or boyfriend to burn off some of that power. Rosie was amazing at tiring me out and grounding me.”

“There’s a bit of a difference between me and you, Emm. I still have a human body and the power of the Hallows is starting to overwhelm me. At times it feels like a living parasite is under my skin or a volcano set to erupt. If I could control it enough to expand some of it safely I’d probably be okay, but you see what happens when I try magic.”

“Maybe an easier spell?” Emmett suggested.

“That’s the first spell we are taught!” Harry cried in frustration. “It’s literally the easiest.”

When the boulder that they had been sitting on started shaking, Emmett launched himself at Harry, just in time to cover his body before it exploded into a million shards. “That’s why I didn’t want you to start with the boulder,” he grunted as he shook debris out of his hair.

“Emmett!” Harry cried in horror. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

Emmett straightened up from where he had been leaning over Harry. “Dude, my body is harder than a diamond, I’m fine. Are you alright?”

“I have always had problems with accidental magic, but I never blew anything up like that before. Well, there was that one time I blew my uncle’s sister up.”

Emmett’s face scrunched up. “Like blood and guts?”

“Nah, like a hot air balloon. You should have seen her floating down the road.”

Laughing, Emmett looked around the ground then kicked at a few larger pieces of the now destroyed boulder. “So, that was…”

“Explosive?” Harry finished dejectedly.

“I never liked that boulder anyway. Do you feel any better?”

Harry thought for a second before answering. “Maybe a bit. I don’t feel like my skin it too tight anymore. Not sure how long that will last.”

“Well, there are plenty of boulders you can blow up and if you run out here, we can always move to Oregon.”

“Thanks, Emm,” Harry sighed.

Tilting his head to the side, Emmett pointed towards the house. “The children will be home from school any minute. I’m guessing you don’t want Bella to know you’re a wizard.”

“Definitely not. The American Ministry is crazy strict with their muggle laws. Unless Edward wants them messing with her brain and oblivating her, he better keep his mouth shut. They could even arrest me if she finds out.”

“Unfortunately for us all, Edward has a problem with keeping his big mouth shut. He has endangered us all by telling Bella what we are. If the Volturi ever find out about her, it could be lights out for all of us.”

Harry watched as Edward’s car pulled up and then Edward, Bella, Alice, and Jasper got out. With a pained look on his face, Jasper bolted into the house. “Jasper struggles with Bella?” He asked already knowing the answer. Jasper has always struggled with blood. It wasn’t right that he had to suffer all day at school and then not even get a break at home because of Bella.

“He’s been thinking about joining our sister coven in Alaska, the only reason he hasn’t yet is because Alice adores Bella and doesn’t want leave.”

“You’d think if she adored her so much that she would leave with Jasper. I know Jasper doesn’t mean to be, but he is a danger to Bella. It would not only destroy Jasper if he slipped and killed Bella, but it would also tear this family apart. Edward would never forgive him if he killed his mate.” He didn’t have to worry about Jasper craving his blood, he could mask the scent of his blood.

“Mate,” Emmett snorted. “The only one who thinks Bella is Edward’s mate is Edward. Well, I guess Alice does too.”

Harry tensed when Edward stopped before entering the house then turned to glare at him. “I think he heard you.”

“I haven’t said anything he hasn’t heard me think a hundred times, but I don’t understand why he’s glaring at you.”

Harry felt a twinge in his chest as he stared back at Edward. “I don’t think Edward wants me here. Maybe I should return to the wizarding world.”

Edward’s eyes widened, a look of panic crossing his face. “I don’t think that’s Eddy’s problem.” Emmett smirked. “You’re family and you’ll always be welcomed here.”

***HP

Harry bit back a grimace when he entered the living room to find Bella sitting awkwardly on the couch. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Bella, he had only had that brief encounter with her when he first arrived so he had no opinion of her, but from what Emmett told him, Bella was a very curious girl who wouldn’t shy away from asking him a million questions. Unfortunately for her, he wasn’t Edward, he could keep his mouth shut. He had no plans on spilling his secrets to a muggle teenager.

“Harry!” Bella said, jumping to her feet.

“Bella,” Harry greeted as his eyes scanned the room, hoping that there was someone else in the room with them. “Where’s Edward?” He asked when he found no one else.

“He’s in Carlisle’s office. Carlisle said this morning that he wanted to have a meeting with him.”

“Oh right,” Harry said, he had forgotten about that. “Where’s everyone else?”

“Esme is in the kitchen cooking dinner for us, Jasper and Alice are in the woods somewhere, and I don’t know where Emmett and Rosalie are. Rosalie doesn’t like me very much so she normally avoids whichever room I am in.”

Harry didn’t know what to say to that. He couldn’t deny it, Rosalie didn’t like Bella at all. “So, uh, how was school?” He asked instead.

Bella’s face screwed up. “It was alright I guess. Being the new kid sucks. Everyone wants to be your friend and I just want to be left alone. Will you be going to school with us?”

Harry busted out laughing. “Absolutely not. I’m not a vampire and, even if I were, there’s no way in hell I’d repeat high school over and over again. That’s just torture.”

Bella tilted her head to the side. “So you already graduated? What school did you go to? Edward hasn’t told me much about you. I actually didn’t know anything at all until Alice had a vision of you coming.”

Harry didn’t want to answer her questions, but these questions were innocent enough and common questions you’d ask someone you just met. “I guess you could say I graduated. There was something going on during my last year of school that prevented me from attending, but I was still able to take and pass my final exams. As for my school, it was in Scotland so you have never heard of it. It was an extremely private school.”

Bella looked down at her hands then anxiously over at the door to Carlisle’s office. “Do you plan on becoming one of them? Do you want to be a vampire?”

Harry’s eyes widened. “Ah, I actually never gave it any thought before. I don’t think I’d make a very good vampire.” It was actually almost impossible for him to become a vampire, unless he wanted to lose his magic and even then the chances of him surviving the turning was pretty zero. Magic and vampire venom didn’t mix very well. Come to think of it, he probably wouldn’t turn anyway thanks to the Hallows.

“I want to but Edward won’t bite me.” Bella said softly.

“How old are you?”

“Seventeen, but I know what I want.” Bella said stubbornly.

“You have known about vampires for what, a year?” Harry asked. “I don’t think being a vampire is as glamours as it first appears. Yeah, there’s the whole living forever and never growing old thing as well as being exceptionally fast and strong, but there’s also the living forever thing.” He stressed. “You will watch all your family and friends die. You’ll spend eternity struggling with bloodlust and trying to keep your vampire controlled. You’ll always have to look over your shoulder and hide what you are. Did you know that there are actual vampires hunters out there as well a psychotic vampire leaders with extremely strict rules? If they knew that you knew about vampires, they would kill you as well as the Cullens.”

Bella shrugged. “I don’t care about any of that and Edward has already warned me about the Volturi. I love Edward and I want to be with him. Just because you’re human and don’t want to be a vampire, doesn’t mean that I feel the same.”

Harry couldn’t help but think that Bella sounded like a petulant child and he was feeling a bit confused over what Edward sees in her, but then he remembered that Bella was more than likely Edward’s singer. What Edward was doing was protecting his food. That sounded disturbing, but it was more than likely the truth. Edward was confusing food with love.

“Harry! Bella! Dinner is ready!” Esme called her eyes darting between Harry and Bella. With her exceptional hearing, she would have heard their conversation.

“Great, I’m starving,” Harry said, his stomach growling. “Emmett and Rosalie forgot that humans need feeding when we were out earlier.”

Pursing her lips, Esme shook her head. “You could have said something.”

“Nah, I was just joking. I didn’t want anything when we were out, I was saving my appetite for your amazing cooking. Mrs. Weasley is a good cook, but you’re an amazing cook, mom.”

“You’re too sweet, Harry,” Esme said with a soft smile on her face.

“So what are we having?” Harry asked as both him and Bella followed Esme to the dining room.

“Mushroom ravioli,” Esme answered as she pointed to the beautifully set table.

Freezing, Harry eyed the table warily. “I’m taking it that mushroom raviolis have mushrooms in them.”

“It is in the name,” Bella chuckled as she took a seat. “Mushroom raviolis are my favorite.”

Esme looked to Harry who was still standing staring at the table,. “Harry, aren’t you going to take a seat?”

Rubbing the back of his neck, Harry shook his head no. “Mom, did you forget that I’m allergic to mushrooms?”

Esme’s eyes widened. “Oh my god, Harry, I totally forgot. I feel so bad. I can make you some pasta or something.”

“Have any meatballs or burger for a cheese burger? I haven’t had a cheese burger in ages.”

“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t thinking when I went grocery shopping the other day. Bella is a vegetarian so there’s no meat in the house. I have a meeting with a client in an hour, but I’ll stop at the store on my way home and pick up ingredients for all your favorites.”

With a raised eyebrow, Harry looked to Bella. “You’re a vegetarian yet you want to be a vampire? I don’t think you can get blood from a mushroom.” The more he got to know Bella, the more it became obvious that she wasn’t Edward’s true mate and that she wasn’t vampire material.

“Once I have been turned it will be different. Blood won’t bother me then,” Bella defended.

At seeing that his mom still looked upset over making a meal he was allergic to, Harry gave her a hug. “It’s alright, mom, I’m not mad. Any chance you will be driving past that diner in town? I can get a burger there then explore the town some more if you don’t mind dropping me off. I now have a phone so I can call when I’m ready to be picked up.” He wasn’t going to mention that he had no idea how the hell to use the cell phone Emmett picked out for him, he’d worry about that later.

“Just give me five minutes to get ready,” Esme said before rushing off.

“How come you don’t know how to drive?” Bella asked after Esme left the room.

“Never had the need to drive. Where I’m from we have other forms of travel.”

“Like what?”

Harry smirked. “If I told you I’d have to kill you,” he joked.

“Why do I have the feeling that you have more secrets than the Cullens?”

“Everyone has secrets, Bella.”

Bella narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. “Are you human?”

Chuckling, Harry turned and walked out of the house. He knew he was probably just adding fuel to the fire that was Bella’s curiosity, but it had been too fun not to do it. There was no way that she could guess that he was a wizard, not unless Edward opens his big mouth and blabs. He couldn’t believe that Edward told Bella about them being vampires. He has put everyone’s lives at risk, including Bella’s. The Volturi were powerful and very strict with their rules and not known for giving second chances.

Harry blindly shoved a salty fry in his mouth and he stared down at his new phone. For the past fifteen minutes he had been trying to open the stupid thing, but it kept rejecting his password. He was seconds away from hurling it across the diner when someone slid into his booth across from him.

“What has your phone done to you to make you look at it like that?”

Harry’s head snapped up. “Jacob!”

Jacob grinned. “You remember me, that’s good.”

Harry gave a slight shiver when he felt his magic tingle. What was it about Jacob that made his magic react in such a way? He had felt something similar with Edward, but it was stronger with Jacob. “I may not have the best memory, but I can remember yesterday.”

“And here I was hoping you would say that my handsome face was impossible to forget.”

Harry felt his cheeks heat. Was Jacob flirting? “So what brings you here!”

Jacob reached out and snagged one of Harry’s fries then popped it into his mouth. “Food of course. My dad didn’t cook dinner for two tonight because I was supposed to go to a friend’s for a cookout, but another friend got in a fight so my friend is at the police station baling him out. Is it alright if I join you?”

“Yeah, that will be a great,” Harry grinned. “I felt kind of like a looser sitting here by myself.”

“How come you’re by yourself? I thought you said you have family here?”

“I do, they’re just all off doing their own thing. Mom made dinner, but she forgot that I was allergic to mushrooms and she made mushroom ravioli. It also seems that my brother’s girlfriend is a vegetarian so out of respect for her, there’s no meat in the house. I have been craving a big juicy burger, so here I am.”

“And here I am,” Jacob added with a wink, “and you’re in for a treat, I can literally eat my weight in burgers. No vegetarian here.”

Harry raised his eyebrows. “I’d like to see that. Hell, I’d record it, except I don’t know how to open this damn thing.” He said, shoving his phone away from him.

“Ah, so that is why you were looking at you phone like you wanted to kill it. Did you put your finger on the home button?”

“My finger on the what? Why the hell would I put my finger on something?”

“Dude, it’s your phone, how come you don’t know how to work it?”

“I have had this phone for like two hours. My brother took me out earlier to buy me my first phone, but he didn’t show me how to work it.” That wasn’t exactly true. Emmett had showed him the basics, but it was technology and he didn’t understand a damn thing Emmett said. Magical mirrors were so much better and easier to use.

“This is your first phone? How is this your first phone?”

Harry shrugged. “My boarding school didn’t allow them and neither did my aunt and uncle, who I had the misfortune of staying with over the summer holidays. Truly horrible people they were.”

Frowning, Jacob got to his feet. “I remember you saying that your bordering school didn’t have computers and cell phones, but I thought you had one during summer break. That’s crazy, man. Let me place my order and then I’ll show you how to use your phone.”

Jacob had questions, so many questions, but he didn’t want to overwhelm Harry, his stunning imprint. He just wanted to know everything about Harry, every little detail. He couldn’t believe his luck when he had passed the diner and scented Harry in it. He was even more surprised with his luck when he found that his imprint was eating all alone. Out of respect for Harry, he wouldn’t have approached him if he had been having dinner with his family, but his imprint had been all alone. Yay for him!

Harry looked down at his phone in wonder when it lit up and opened under his finger. “So let me get this straight, that little button reads my fingerprint then opens the phone? What happens if you put your finger on it?”

“It will remain locked,” Emmett answered.

“Amazing! My friend’s dad would have a hippogriff if he got his hand on one of these. He’s obsessed with mug…” Mouth slamming shut, Harry looked sheepishly at Jacob.

Burger halfway to his mouth, Jacob tilted his head to the side. “Uhm, are you speaking another language? What is a hippogriff?”

Harry chuckled nervously. “Oh, you know, weird boarding school stuff.” Grabbing a couple fries, he stuffed them quickly into his mouth.

Jacob could tell that Harry technically wasn’t lying to him, but he was positive that there was a shit load more to Harry and his boarding school. “Where did you say your boarding school was again?”

“Scotland,” Harry answered after he swallowed his food.

“That’s pretty cool that you went to school in Scotland. I have never even been out of the lovely state of Washington.”

“The weather here reminds of Scotland as well as the surrounding forests. There was a massive forest next to the school I attended, but we were forbidden from going into it because it was too dangerous. It was even named the Forbidden Forest.”

“Why do I get the feeling that you wandered into the Forbidden Forest?”

“Me?” Harry gasped as he gave Jacob his best puppy dog eyes. “I’ll have you know, I was a sweet, innocent, rule following student.”

Jacob narrowed his eyes. “How many times did you go into the Forbidden Forest?” He asked knowingly.

“Too many to count,” Harry snickered. “Truthfully, the Forbidden Forest is very dangerous and full of mythical creatures. I almost got eaten on more than one occasion.”

“I read a book once on Scotland’s mythical creatures and folklore. We don’t have any unicorns or kelpies here, but we do have Sasquatches and werewolves.”

“Really?” Harry asked excitedly. “We have werewolves in Scotland, but no Sasquatches. Have you ever seen one?”

The more time Jacob spent with his imprint, the harder he was falling for him. There was just something about Harry, something so pure and otherworldly. He got excited over the simplest things and the way he talked sometimes was like he was from another time. “Not yet, but if you want to go hunting for one, I know the forests around here like the back of my hand.”

“Whale and Sasquatch hunting, you’re pretty awesome, Jacob Black.”

Opening the refrigerator and freezer doors, Harry grinned feraly when he saw all the meat his mother had bought. There was burger, ham, sausage, bacon, pork, chicken, eggs, and even a twenty pound turkey. Honestly it was too much for just him to eat, but he was willing to give it a try. Maybe he could invite the twins for a day or two, they could easily put a dent in all this food.

“Did I get everything, sweetheart?”

Closing the refrigerator door, Harry turned to his mother. “Everything and more. Will all that meat offend Bella?” He really didn’t care, he wasn’t going to change his diet for her, but he thought it only polite to ask.

“Harry, Bella isn’t family, you are. If she has a problem with your diet then she doesn’t have to eat here.”

“How about she just doesn’t come here period,” Rosalie spat as she glided into the kitchen. “Her being here isn’t fair to us, especially Jasper. Our home is the only place we can escape the stench of…”

Harry smirked at Rosalie when she didn’t finish what she was going to say. “What stench is that Rose?”

A crash was heard and then Emmett came running into the kitchen. “Oh, this going to be good,” he grinned. “Go ahead, Rosie, tell Harry what stench you find offensive.”

“Fine!” Rosalie sniffed. “Humans! Our home is the only place we can escape the stench of humans, but our baby knows that we don’t mean him. Harry doesn’t stink and he doesn’t smell like food to us. Harry’s presence also doesn’t cause Jasper pain like Bella’s does.”

Esme looked thoughtfully to her youngest son. “Harry, do you think you can cast a spell on Bella or give her something to block her scent?”

Before Harry could answer, Emmett started roaring with laughter. “Harry would blow her up.”

Harry wanted to be offended, but Emmett was only speaking the truth. “He’s not wrong, but even if there wasn’t a risk of sending her into orbit with the tree branch, I wouldn’t do it anyway. I don’t want to give the American Ministry any reason to send me back or possibly blackmail me into working for them. I was getting enough demands from the Ministry of Magic back home.”

“How about Bella just stays the hell away!” Rosalie spat. “It’s not just Jasper, I’m not comfortable with her here either. This is our safe space, the place where we can relax and be ourselves. Her being here isn’t fair to any of us.”

Bella is your brother’s mate,” Esme stressed.

Harry could tell that this wasn’t the first argument the family has had over Bella. Rosalie didn’t like Bella and she was never one to hold back her opinions. “So where are Edward and Bella?”

“Her place,” Emmett answered.

“Her parents don’t mind Edward being over so much?”

“Her mom and dad are divorced and she lives with her dad who is the Chief of Police here so he’s not home a lot,” Esme answered.

“Wow! So Edward has not only risked your lives with the Volturi, but he’s also dating the police chief’s daughter. Isn’t that kind of risky. I’m sure the man has got to be pretty smart and good at sniffing out lies. You would think Edward would want to fly under the radar.”

“It is risky,” Esme admitted, “but Edward is in love with Bella and he deserves to be happy.”

“This is going to end ugly for us all,” Rosalie warned.

Harry was afraid that Rosalie was right. This wasn’t going to end well.

“I know I read somewhere about mates helping balance powerful witches and wizards,” Hermione said, her face scrunched up in thought, “but I can’t remember if I read it at Hogwarts, or the Black library.”

Harry smiled at his fiend through the mirror. “I’m not a creature, Mione, I don’t have a mate.”

“Anyone can have a mate, Harry, not just creatures. Creatures are just more than likely to recognize their mate thanks to their creature instincts.”

Ron leaned into the mirror so he could see Harry. “Mate, we don’t know what you are anymore. For all we know the Hallows could have turned you into some creature.”

Hermione looked at her boyfriend in surprise. “That’s actually a very good point, Ron.”

“I don’t feel like I’m a creature. Other than my wonky magic and Hallows issue, I don’t feel any different.”

Hermione chewed on her bottom lip thoughtfully. “You said that your magic has felt more settled since arriving in Forks.”

“Mione, there’s currently a tree branch orbiting the Earth.” Harry joked.

“I wasn’t finished,” Hermione huffed.

Harry held his hands up. “Sorry.”

Hermione sighed. “As I was saying, you said your magic has felt more settled and a few times now it has reacted to both Edward and Jacob. Maybe one of them is your mate.”

“Or both!” Ron said, waggling his eyebrows.

“Could be both,” Hermione agreed, her face flushing. “You are very powerful, Harry, so your magic may require two mates to ground it. Or it could be that both are potential mates and you have to choose the one you have the most chemistry with.”

Groaning, Harry collapsed against his pillows. “Edward is my brother and Jacob is a muggle. How can a muggle ground my magic?”

“Edward doesn’t share your blood,” Ron pointed out, “so technically he isn’t your brother.”

Hermione nodded her head in agreement. “Are you positive that Jacob isn’t a creature? There are creatures that are native to North America only.”

Harry thought back to his two interactions with Jacob. Nothing stood out as creature or supernatural to him. He would also like to think that his magic would warn him if he encountered an unknown creature. His magic definitely reacted to Jacob, but it wasn’t the type of reaction that he would expect if he was around a potentially dangerous creature.

“What about Edward and Bella?” Harry asked.

“She’s not his mate,” Hermione said simply. “Everything that you have described about her is textbook singer. Edward craves her blood to the point it’s driving him mad and his gift doesn’t work on her. It’s actually amazing that Edward has managed to resist draining her.”

“Wouldn’t he recognize me as his mate if I was his mate?”

“Not if Bella’s blood has his senses and instincts scrambled.” Hermione said.

Harry blew out a loud breath. “Why does everything with me have to be a disaster?”

“It wouldn’t be you if it wasn’t,” Ron snickered.

Harry scowled at his best mate. “Enough about me, how is it going with your parents?”

Hermione cringed. “My parents are pretty furious that I screwed with their brains, especially seeing as they have yet to regain all their memories, but everyday they’re getting better. They’re pretty happy here though so I doubt they will return.”

“Everything will work out,” Harry said encouragingly. “Your parents love you.”

“As soon as we have worked though everything here, we will join you in America,” Hermione said. “I can’t wait to meet your family and Jacob.”

“Jake is just a friend. I barely know him.”

“And yet you have that same look on your face as you had when you were crushing on Cho.”

Smirking, Ron nodded his head. “She’s got you there, mate.”

“Whatever!” Harry huffed. “Talk to you guys later.”

“Bye, Harry,” Ron and Hermione said at the same time.

Harry had just gotten out of the shower and dressed when Alice came bursting into his room. “Alice!” He yelled, “I could have been naked. Knock next time.”

“I saw that you weren’t naked.” Alice giggled. “Come on, we have thunder rolling in.”

Harry froze at her words. “Thunder? Do you mean what I think you mean?”

“Game time!” Alice cheered.

“Merlin, it’s been so long since I have played baseball. I’m regretting leaving my broom behind now.”

“Are you in?”

Harry looked down at his cast. His wrist really wasn’t hurting anymore, just a twinge here or there. He was actually thinking about having Carlisle X-ray it again because he was pretty sure that it was healed. He didn’t know if his magic healed it or the Hallows, but he wasn’t complaining.

“Oh, I had a vision earlier of Carlisle removing your cast in a few days. It will probably be awkward, but you should be able to play with that thing on. You in?”

Fifteen minutes ago Harry had been dead exhausted after spending most of the day whale watching with Jake, but now he was excited and ready to play. “I get to use a little magic. It’s only fair.”

“I’ll bring extra balls!” Emmett yelled from down the hall.

“I won’t blow any balls up!” Harry yelled back. Looking to Alice, he asked. “Do I?”

“Only five,” Alice giggled.

“I knew it!” Emmett howled. “Good thing we have extras.”

“Rude!” Harry grumbled.

“We leave in two minutes so hurry up and get your shoes on,” Alice said as she skipped out of Harry’s room.

Shaking his head in exasperation at Alice’s excitement, Harry turned to grab his shoes. Seeing that they were still wet from the beach, he was getting ready to magically dry them, when Alice came rushing back into the room.

“Stop!” Alice cried. “You’re going to set the bed on fire.”

Groaning, Harry dropped his head in defeat. “Maybe I should leave my wand at home, it would be safer for everyone.”

“Awe, don’t be sad, little brother, everything will work out.”

Harry looked to Alice with hope in his eyes. “Have you seen something?”

Alice frowned. “Well no, but I also haven’t seen you wiping Washington off the map.”

“Yay for me,” Harry said sarcastically.

Alice pointed to Harry’s wet shoes. “We are going shopping tomorrow for more shoes. I can’t believe that you only own one pair of sneakers. Did you go swimming in them?”

“Whale watching,” Harry grinned, “and it was amazing. I was worried about moving here, but I’m really loving it.” He wasn’t going to tell her that one of the reasons why he was loving it here was because of Jake. Spending the day with Jake had been amazing and he had no doubt in his mind that Jacob liked him. It seemed like every chance he got, Jacob found a reason to touch him or stand extremely close to him. He was also always grinning at him and looking at him like he was the most precious person on the Earth. He had never been looked at like he was the most important person to someone. People in the wizarding world looked at him in awe and wonder because he was The-Boy-Who-Lived, but the way Jacob looked at him was different. There was so much warmth and amazement in Jacob’s eyes, like he couldn’t believe that he had found him.

“Whale watching.” Alice repeated. “Are you going to turn into a surfer boy on us?”

“Merlin no!” Harry choked out. “I cant swim for shit and I have no desire to learn. I’ll stick to the activities I can do from the safety of the beach.”

“Lets go!” Emmett bellowed from somewhere in the house.

“Come on, you can wear a pair of Jasper’s sneakers.” Alice said, motioning for Harry to follow her.

Harry’s face screwed up when they got to where they were playing baseball and he saw Edward with Bella. “There goes me getting to use a touch of magic to even the playing field,” he grumbled. He couldn’t risk Bella seeing him use magic.

“Maybe we won’t need those extra baseballs after all,” Emmett chuckled as he bumped his shoulder against Harry’s.

“It’s probably safer if I didn’t use magic anyway.” Harry sighed. He had left his wand back at the house, but he had planned on using a bit of wandless magic. Just bit. Just enough to help his ball travel a bit farther or make it so he could catch a few balls.

Emmett tossed his arm over Harry’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, baby, we will take it easy on you.”

Harry narrowed his eyes at his brother. “No you won’t. You didn’t take it easy on me when I was ten and you won’t take it easy on me now.”

Emmett threw his head back laughing. “What can I say, I’m too competitive.”

“This is Bella’s first time joining us.” Esme said as she gave a little wave to Bella as they approached them.

“Oh, I’m not playing,” Bella said when the group joined them. “I’m not very good at sports.”

“No shit.” Emmett snorted. “I have seen you in gym class.”

“Emmett,” Edward growled in warning.

“What? I’m just speaking the truth.”

“It’s alright, Edward,” Bella said. “Emmett is right. How about you, Harry, are you any good at sports?”

Harry smirked. “I was the youngest seeker for my house team in over a century,” he bragged. “I only lost one game and it was due to outside interference.”

Bella looked at Harry in confusion. “Seeker?”

Shaking his head, Harry chuckled. “It’s too hard to explain and a Scottish thing. I’m not too bad when it comes to sports, but I haven’t played baseball since I was ten so I’m sure to be rusty.” Technically Quidditch wasn’t a just Scottish thing, but he couldn’t exactly explain it to her.

“Squirt is on my team!” Emmett proclaimed as he grabbed Harry by the back of the shirt a pulled him to him.

Jasper smirked. “Harry has one good hand, you’re going to lose.”

Emmett pouted. “I forgot about that. Fine, we get Eddie since he’s the fastest and he’s the reason Harry is broken.”

Harry rolled his eyes. “I’m not broken.”

“Fine, you can have Edward, but I get Rose and Carlisle.” Jasper said.

Alice pouted. “What am I, chopped liver.”

“Sorry, sweetie, but I can’t let Emmett win.”

“I’ll take Alice. She’s fierce when she getting revenge and you just pissed her off,” Emmett chuckled.

“I guess that leaves me on Jasper’s team,” Esme said as she joined her mate on Jasper’s team.

***HP

Harry was pouring in sweat and his broken wrist was throbbing, but he had had a blast playing ball with his family. Their team lost of course seeing as they had a human on it, but if he could have used his magic to even things out a bit, they would have cremated Jasper’s team. He had used a bit of wandless magic to trip Jasper a few times and to help his ball travel farther, nothing too complicated, and he was proud to say that he didn’t blow anyone up. His magic was actually feeling pretty content. If Bella hadn’t been there and if he had his wand, he would have tried a few spells.

“You played good, Harry,” Bella complimented, “but I don’t think any human can win against vampires.”

Harry chuckled to himself. “I don’t know about that, but thank you for the compliment.”

“I can’t believe that Jasper fell five times. I thought vampires were always graceful.”

“Five times, was that all?” Harry asked as he looked over at Jasper who was smirking at him. “I could have sworn it was more.”

“Just wait until next time,” Jasper taunted.

“Next time I won’t be in a cast and will be back to my old self. I think the next game will be truly magical.”

“Bring it on,” Jasper goaded.

“You riding with us cool kids or the folks?” Emmett asked.

On the way over Harry had ridden in Emmett’s badass Jeep with Emmett and Rosalie and he was now pretty sure that when he finally learned how to drive, he was getting a jeep. He loved Emmett’s Jeep, especially the fact that you could take the top off. It kind of reminded him of flying on his broomstick.

“Actually, Harry, we were hoping that you would ride with us,” Edward said a little tentatively. “I have hardly spent any time with you since you have returned and I would like for you to get to know Bella better.”

Carlisle looked to his eldest in concern. “Are you certain about this, Edward?”

Edward inclined his head. “I know I have been struggling the past few days, but I’m fine now.”

“We would like to take you to the diner,” Bella offered.

“Will you be offended if I eat meat?” Harry asked.

“Of course not,” Bella smiled. “Charlie lives off of meat.”

“Charlie?”

“Oh right, you don’t know Charlie. Charlie is my dad.”

“You call your dad by his name and not dad?” Harry asked in confusion. He found that kind of disrespectful.

Bella awkwardly shrugged. “He doesn’t mind.”

“Please let us take you out,” Edward said, changing the subject.

Harry really didn’t want to go with Edward and Bella. He did want to spend time getting to know Edward again, but being with both Edward and Bella made him feel a bit uncomfortable. As much as he didn’t want to go, he couldn’t say no to them. They were trying, the least he could do was try back. “Yeah, sure, that sounds great.”

Jasper approached Harry. “Are you sure? You don’t have to say yes if you don’t want to.”

Harry knew that Jasper was feeling his reluctance to go, but he didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. “It’s fine. I’m actually starving and the diner’s burgers were pretty good.”

“I guess we will see you at home,” Carlisle said. “Do you have your phone on you?”

Reaching into his pocket, Harry pulled out his phone. “Yup, and I’m getting better at using it.” And he was, but that was only because he had been texting Jacob most the previous night. He even knew how to take and send pictures and he knew what a meme was now. He still didn’t think the cellphone was as cool as his magic mirror, but at least the phone he could use in public around muggles.

“Call if you need anything,” Carlisle said before him and the rest of the family took off for their vehicles, disappearing in a blink of an eye.

“I’ll never get use to supernatural speed.” Bella said as she leaned into Edward. “One second they are there, and the next they’re just gone.”

“It is pretty cool,” Harry admitted. “So where did you park your car? I didn’t see it where we parked.”

Edward opened his mouth to answer, but then he froze, his eyes snapping to the woods line. “I didn’t hear them coming.”

Harry immediately knew that something was wrong. Not only could he tell from Edward’s stance, but his magic was also warning him of danger. “Who, Edward?”

“Nomads,” Edward answered, his eyes still on the woods.

“How many?” Harry quickly asked, mentally cursing himself for leaving his wand at home. What the hell had he been thinking?

“Three,” Edward said, just as the nomads stepped into the clearing.

“This ain’t good,” Harry mumbled.

Grabbing Bella’s hand, Edward pulled her behind him. “Edward, what’s going on?”

Edward didn’t have time to answer Bella before the nomads were standing right in front of them.

“We heard you playing,” a grungy looking male that was wearing no shoes said, his red eyes dancing between Harry and Bella.

“We came to join you,” a female with curly hair added, “but it seems as though we are too late.”

“Shame, we haven’t played in long time,” A dark skinned male with long dreadlocks said, his red eyes pinned on Harry. “But I see you have brought a snack.”

“Two snacks,” the other male said hungrily.

“We were just leaving,” Edward said tightly, “but feel free to use our equipment,” he said, pointing to a bat and ball that had been left behind.

“That’s very generous of you,” the grungy looking male said. “Hopefully you are as generous with your food.”

After this, Harry was never, ever, ever leaving his wand behind. He didn’t care about blowing things up or setting fires. Hell, he didn’t even care if Bella saw him using magic. If he had his wand, he would incinerate these bastards. Right now it was three nomads against Edward, the odds weren’t looking too good, especially seeing as these were human blood drinking vampires and they tended to be stronger and faster than veggie vamps.

The dark skinned vampire leaned in close to Harry and inhaled deeply. “This one has no scent, but I can hear his heart racing. What are you, little human?”

“I’m not your snack, that’s for sure,” Harry snapped.

“Harry,” Edward warned, his body stiff as a board.

The grungy guy started laughing. “Where are my manners? I am James, and this is my mate Victoria and our best friend Laurent. And you are?”

“Leaving,” Edward said as he took a few steps back, keeping Bella safely behind him.

“Now that’s just rude,” James purred. Licking his lips as he looked hungrily at Bella.

Face screwed up as if he was in pain, Edward looked to Harry. “I’m sorry,” he said brokenly.

“Edward?” Harry questioned in confusion, but with a look of devastation on his face, Edward grabbed Bella and disappeared.

“That fucking bastard!” Harry cried in shock. Edward left him! Edward, his brother, left him to be brutally killed by these assholes. Edward was so going to pay when he got home.

Victoria threw her head back and startled cackling madly, reminding Harry of Bellatrix. Having nothing to lose at this point, he looked to her and snapped. “Shut the hell up, you psychotic, bloodsucking bitch.” Was that a stupid thing to say? Yes. Was he going to die any way? Also yes. He was just so sick and tired of being thrown to the bad guys. Had Bella been Edward’s true mate, he could have understood him choosing her over him, but she was his fucking singer. She was his dinner. Edward chose dinner of his brother.

With a loud scream, Victoria struck Harry across the face, her long, sharp nails cutting him from left ear to the corner of his lip. Harry stumbled from the impact, but he refused to go down and he refused to make a sound despite his cheek feeling like it was on fire. Eyes hard, he straightened up then spat a glob of blood at Victoria’s feet.

Nostrils flaring, a slow grin spread across James’ face. “Oh you are a special one, little wizard.”

“Wizard?” Laurent questioned. “I can’t smell anything.”

“The scent is feint, but it’s there. He’s probably masking his scent.”

“I’ve never had magical blood,” Victoria said excitedly.

“That’s because it’s forbidden,” James explained. “The kings signed a treaty with the magicals centuries ago. But the kings aren’t here, are they?”

In less than a blink, Victoria was behind Harry with his head in a headlock and her teeth pressing against his neck. Harry had been expecting the attack, but vampires were so damn fast that he didn’t have time to react. Reaching behind his head, he grabbed a fistful of Victoria’s hair and wandlessly set it on fire. That hadn’t exactly been his plan, he had wanted to use something like a stinging hex on her, but for once he wasn’t going to bitch about his magic setting something on fire.

Screaming, Victoria released Harry then started beating at her head, but her hair was so thick and frizzy and vampires so flammable, that by the time she got the fire out with the help of her mate, she was mostly bald with melted skin covering her head and part of the right side of her face. Harry couldn’t help but to smirk at her. Vampires could heal from almost anything, even dismemberment, but they couldn’t heal from fire. Victoria would forever look like a melted candle.

Victoria’s screams didn’t stop once the fire was out, but her screams went from pain and fear, to absolute fury. Harry only had a second to enjoy her screams before she was launching herself at him despite James ordering her not to.

Knowing there wasn’t anything he could, Harry braced himself for Victoria’s attack, but out of nowhere a massive russet brown wolf launched over him, knocking him to the ground and out of the way. He watched in disbelief as the wolf, easily the size of a horse, clamped it’s jaws over Victoria’s head and tore her head clean off her body. He only got a second to enjoy the sight before James was hauling him to his feet by his hair.

With Victoria’s head still dangling from its teeth, the wolf turned his amber eyes on James, his muscles tense and ready to spring. Harry could tell that this was no ordinary wolf, not with its size and not with such intelligence in its eyes.

“Kill it!” James ordered of Laurent.

Even though the wolf was staring at James, it launched itself at Laurant and removed his head from his body just as easily as it removed Victoria’s.

“No!” James roared. Enraged, he grabbed Harry’s head and twisted it harshly, a loud snap echoing throughout the cleaning.

Jacob felt as though Death had reached inside his chest and ripped out his heart. Not just his heart, but also his soul. His imprint was dead. Not only had he heard the snapping of his mate’s neck, but he had felt whatever force that tied them together snap like a rubber band. As much as he wanted to give up, to collapse and never move again, he had one more leech to take care of. And this leech, he was going to take great pleasure in killing.

Edward didn’t stop running with Bella in his arms until he got home. Shocked at what he had just done, he placed Bella on her feet then fell to his knees and screamed as loud as he could. He had just abandoned his little brother, left him to fend for himself against three human blood drinking vampires. He had read the vampires thoughts, he knew that there had been no talking them out of killing Bella and Harry so he had done the only thing he could think of. He had taken Bella and ran. He knew that he was fast, faster than any vampire he has ever met so he knew that he had a chance of outrunning them, at least until he could get to the rest of the family and get backup.

“Edward!” Bella sobbed her entire body shaking. “You have to go back. You have to save Harry.”

The rest of the Cullens came rushing out of the house, Jasper crashing to his knees in front of Edward having been overwhelmed by his emotions. “Edward, what happened?” Carlisle asked anxiously.

“Where’s Harry?” Emmett demanded.

Edward let out another scream, unable to form words to tell his family about Harry. Harry was dead and it was all his fault. It hurt…it hurt so damn much. He didn’t realize how much Harry meant to him until now. Harry was his. Harry was his mate, not Bella.

Rosalie rounded on Bella, her eyes blazing. “Where the hell is my brother?”

Eyes wide with shock, Bella was almost hyperventilating. “There were nomads, three of them, and Edward…” Bella stopped to let out a sob. “Edward grabbed me and ran and he left Harry behind.”

“What?” Rosalie screamed. Rounding on Edward, she picked him up and slammed him against a tree. “Tell me she is wrong. Tell me that you didn’t leave Harry with three nomads.”

There were no tears in Edward’s eyes because he was incapable of crying, but he was sobbing. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I heard their thoughts and I knew that there was no way I could fight all three.”

Rosalie shook her head in disbelief then cocked her fist back and punched Edward in the face. She punched him so hard that she cracked the tree behind him. “We have to go! We have to go right now!” Turning to her mate, she saw that Emmett and Jasper were already gone. They had taken off the second they heard that Harry had been left with nomads.

Jacob dropped the third head next to the other two. The last vampire had put up a hell of a fight and for a few seconds there he thought that he was going to lose to him, but he had grief and anger on his side. As much as he felt like dying himself for losing his imprint, he wasn’t going to go before the bastard that took Harry from him.

Hearing a rustling from the woods line, he wasn’t surprised when the rest of the pack stepped out, their heads bowed in respect. They had never met Harry, but they knew all about him from their shared mind link.

Whining, Jacob limped to his mate then collapsed next to him. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do now. He felt lost and broken, like his purpose for living was gone.

After a brief pause, Sam, the alpha of the pack, approached Jacob then shifted back into his human form. “You need to shift, Jacob, you won’t heal properly if you don’t.”

Jacob knew that he was injured, but he didn’t care. He knew for a fact that he had a broken leg and multiple broken ribs, but the pain from losing Harry hurt worse than all his broken bones combined.

“Jake,” Sam pleaded, “don’t make me force your shift, it’s only going to cause more damage.”

Jake just wanted to be left alone. Sam didn’t know what he was going through, what he was feeling. No one in pack has suffered a loss of their imprint so they didn’t know what it felt like to have that connection with your imprint violently ripped away. He wouldn’t wish this on his worst enemy. Death was preferable to this. Death at least granted peace.

“I won’t allow you to harm yourself. I’m sorry,” Sam said before forcing Jacob to shift.

Jacob didn’t fight the shift, but he also didn’t get up. Now that he was in his human form he could feel his bones shifting and snapping back into place, something that normally would cause him excruciating pain, but now he could hardly feel it. If only the pain in his heart could heal itself as easily as his bones.

Sam knelt next to Jacob. “I’m sorry, Jacob, I truly am. Do you know who his family are? We have to tell them.”

“I don’t understand. What was he doing all the way out here alone?” Jacob cried. He had been on patrol when he picked up the stench of leech, stench that didn’t belong to the Cullens. When he ran into the clearing and saw Harry standing tall and refusing to back down from the leeches, he about had a heart attack on the spot. If only he had arrived five minutes earlier and gotten Harry away before the leeches arrived.

“Jacob, I know you’re hurting, but we have to get your imprint to his family. They deserve to know.”

“I-I don’t know,” Jacob sniffed. “I didn’t want to overwhelm him with too many questions at once. I know his last name is Potter, but there are no Potters in Forks.”

“We are going to have to call Charlie then after we clean up the leeches.”

“And tell him what?” Jacob screamed. “That he had his neck snapped by vampires.”

Sam sighed. “We will have to make up a story. With the scratches on his face and the snapped neck, we can tell him that he fell out of a tree or something. I know you’re hurting, but I need you to be strong for a little longer.”

Jacob wanted to tell Sam to shut the fuck up, but his alpha was right. He couldn’t leave Harry laying here on the cold hard ground next to the remains of the vampires that killed him. He had to pull himself together and take care of his imprint. He could lock himself away from the rest of the world after Harry has been laid to rest.

Sitting up, Jacob was just getting ready to pick Harry up, when Harry sat bolt upright with a loud gasp, his eyes impossibly wide. Shocked, Jacob fell backwards, his own eye going wide with disbelief.

***HP

Harry’s heart was pounding so hard in his chest that it was physically painful. Chest heaving, he looked wildly around, but his eyes weren’t really working yet so he couldn’t see anything. He had died! He had fucking died! His neck had been snapped and he had died!

Gasping, Harry brought his hands up to his neck and wildly started inspecting it. His neck felt normal and didn’t hurt, but he could still hear the sound of his neck snapping ringing in his ear.

“What the fuck!” Jacob cried, looking at Harry like he was looking at a ghost.

Vision finally returning, Harry turned to the voice he could hear at his side and was surprised to find Jacob. A very naked Jacob. “You’re naked,” he said, his voice sounding raw and scratchy.

“And you’re alive!” Jacob gasped.

“I guess that answers that question,” Harry said breathlessly. The Hallows had made him immortal. Fuck!

“What question? Harry, what the hell is going on? You died, I saw it with my own eyes and I heard your neck snap. I-I can still hear it,” Jacob said brokenly.

“You and me both. Merlin, that was unpleasant.” Harry croaked. When Jake’s words penetrated his fuzzy brain, he looked to him in confusion. “Wait, you saw? How? The only one who was here was the wol…” Harry froze. “You’re a shifter!” He cried, all the puzzle pieces coming together. “You were the wolf who took out Victoria and Laurent.”

“I took out the leech that killed you too, but don’t look because there’s pieces of him everywhere.”

You couldn’t tell Harry not to do something, that just made him want to do it even more. Shifting so he could see past Jake, he made a choking sound when he saw pieces of James scattered everywhere. “That’s, uhm, that’s impressive. Maybe a bit of an overkill, but impressive.”

Looking back at Jake, he blushed when he saw that he was still naked. Jacob was gorgeous. Noticing movement out of the corner of his eye, he stiffened before whipping his head around. He didn’t know what he expected to see, probably another red eyed vampire, but he hadn’t been expecting to see another insanely built naked man.

“It’s alright, Harry, he’s a friend,” Jacob quickly reassured.

“A naked friend,” Harry said, still staring at the stranger. “I take it you’re a shifter too?”

“How do you know about shifters?” Same growled.

“Who cares about that,” Jacob cried. “Harry, how are you alive?”

Harry could feel a migraine coming on. He had died, came back, and was now surrounded by gorgeous, naked men. “Jake, how do you expect me to answer any questions with little Jacob hanging out?”

“Little!” Jake gasped in fake outrage.

Sam quickly covered his laugh by coughing. “Embry is bringing some pants,” he told Jacob.

“I don’t know who Embry is, but that’s good. My pounding migraine is making it hard enough to concentrate without having all those muscles and dicks on display. It’s a little much for this gay virgin. While you guys wait for Embry, I’m just going to lay back and close my eyes for a minute. Dying and coming back isn’t as easy as it looks.” With that, Harry fell back with a pathetic groan.

***HP

“Dude, what the fuck is going on?” Embry whispered as he tossed a pair of shorts at Jacob.

Shrugging, Jacob quickly pulled the shorts on, careful of his little Jacob with the zipper. He couldn’t help but snort to himself at the little comment. He knew that he wasn’t little so he had nothing to be ashamed of.

“He was dead, Jake, we all saw it through our link,” Embry pointed out as he looked cautiously over at Harry. “Dead people just don’t sit up and start talking.”

“You know I can hear you,” Harry mumbled from where he was still laying on the ground with his arm flung over his eyes. “And I don’t recommend coming back from the dead, it leaves you with one hell of a migraine.”

“Dude!” Embry hissed at Jacob. “Your imprint is a zombie.”

Harry started laughing, but then his laughter turned into a pain filled whine. “Stop, it hurts to laugh.”

Concerned, Jacob knelt at Harry’s side and placed a hand on his shoulder. “What can I do for you, Harry? What do you need?”

“We need to get him off the cold ground and somewhere warm,” Sam said, taking charge. “And we need to burn the leeches.”

“Oh, a fire, that sounds nice,” Harry said, his body giving a shiver. “That’s why you’re the alpha. You have the best ideas.”

“Kid, you’re going to have a lot of explaining to do when you’re up to it,” Sam warned. “Like how the hell did you know that I’m the alpha.”

Harry shifted his arm then squinted up at Jake. “I’m not the only one with a lot of explaining to do.”

Rubbing the back of his neck, Jacob smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, I guess I do have some explaining to do.” And he did and he was going to tell Harry everything, especially the imprint part. He was never going to forget the pain he felt when Harry died, but when Harry sat back up and looked at him, it felt like an electrical current had surged through him and the force that tied them together felt even stronger than before. He didn’t care if Harry was a zombie, Harry was his.

***HP

Harry’s head hurt so bad that he felt like he was going to throw up. He didn’t know if it was from the Hallows, his neck snapping, or a side effect from coming back to life, but this was by far the worst migraine he has ever had. This didn’t happen to him when he came back to life during the battle, but maybe that was because of the Horcrux that had residing in his head. He didn’t know, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to be eager to try dying and come back again.

Hearing more voices than just Jacob, Sam, and Embry, Harry tried to sit up to see what was going on, only for his arms to give out on him causing him to fall back to the ground. “Jake?” He called.

Jacob was instantly at Harry’s side. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

“I hear voices.” Harry said. The only reason he wasn’t panicking was because Jacob was with him and, despite barely knowing him, he trusted Jacob. Call him crazy, but he felt as safe around Jacob as he did with Ron and Hermione.

“It’s just my pack, Harry. They’re taking care of the leeches so we can get you out of here.”

“Jake!” Sam barked out, his voice sounding tight and strained. “Incoming leeches.”

“Shit!” Jacob cursed.

Despite the blinding pain in his head, Harry forced himself to sit-up. Like hell was he going to lay helpless while Jake battled more nomads. “Jake, help me up,” he pleaded, reaching for Jake’s hand.

“It’s the Cullens!” Another voice from farther away yelled.

“Don’t hurt them!” Harry screamed in a panic as he scrambled on to his feet. His vision was fading in and out, but he had to protect his family. “Jake, don’t hurt them, they’re my family.”

Jacob rounded on Harry. “What?”

Reaching out he grabbed Jake by the arm. “They’re my family.”

“You’re a Cullen?”

Harry didn’t get the chance to answer because a second later a frantic looking Emmett and Jasper were in front of him, both ignoring the savage growling coming from the wolves around them.

“You’re alive!” Emmett cried as he crushed Harry against his massive chest. “We thought you were dead.”

“I was, but I’m not now,” Harry said as he felt his eyes start to fill with tears.

“What the hell does that mean?” Emmett demanded.

“Not now,” Harry whimpered as his knees started to give out. “I’m not exactly feeling the best.”

Jasper looked around, his eyes landing on the burning fire. “What happened after Edward left you?”

“What?” Jacob roared, getting into Jasper’s face. “Edward left Harry to the leeches?”

Sighing, Harry resigned himself to telling the tale despite the pain in his head. Looking around, he saw that he was surrounded by at least nine half dressed Native American shifters as well as his mom, dad, Rose, and Alice. He noticed that Edward was missing, which was probably a good thing seeing as he was going to kill him.

Looking absolutely gutted, Alice whispered. “I’m sorry, I didn’t see them.”

Harry gave his sister a weak smile, that was all he had the energy for. “You can’t see everything.”

Carlisle stepped forward, his eyes searching his son for injuries. There was a feint scar on his cheek that hadn’t been there before, but it was so feint that only someone with supernatural vision would see it. “Before you tell us what happened, are you alright?”

Harry softly shook his head no. “No, but I think I will be. Right now my head feels like it’s been split open, but it’s not from an injury or anything. He left me, dad. Edward took Bella and left me here to die.”

All the shifters started snarling, sounding more like their wolves. Jacob, with his eyes flaring, had to take a few steps away from Harry and the other Cullens as he fought to keep his wolf calm.

“Jake, get control of yourself,” Sam ordered in his alpha voice. “Harry is safe.”

“Edward left you with those leeches?” Jacob asked again as his skin started to ripple.

“He’s going to lose it!” Embry warned.

Stepping out of Emmett’s arms despite his brother’s protests, Harry rushed to Jacob. “Jake, look at me,” he said, his voice soft and pleading. “I’m alive because of you. You saved me. Please stay with me, don’t shift.”

Looking down at Harry, Jacob’s eyes returned to their warm brown. “I didn’t save you,” he said brokenly. “You died. When I saw you with them I ran to you as fast as I could, but there was three of them and only one of me. I’m so sorry, Harry.”

“No, Jake, don’t blame yourself,” Harry said softly when he saw a tear fall from Jake’s eyes. “None of this was your fault. You fought for me, put your life at risk for me, and you barely know me. That’s a hell of a lot more than what Edward did for me and I have known him since I was eight years old. I thought we were brothers.”

“I’m so confused over the brother thing and the Cullens being your family when they are vampires and you’re human, but that story can wait. I’m a wolf shifter and leeches are our natural enemies so we look for any excuse to take them out, especially if they are in our territory, but you, Harry, I would give up my life for you. I don’t know how you know so much about shifters, but do you know what an imprint is?”

“Oh shit! I didn’t see that coming!” Emmett bellowed. “That’s going to complicate things.”

Harry’s eyes widened and the pain in his head was momentarily forgotten at Jake’s words. He knew what an imprint was, Sirius had teased Remus about imprints. Was Jacob trying to tell him that he was his imprint? Hermione had mentioned mates, but he thought she was just spouting more facts that would never pertain to him.

“Harry?” Jacob said unsurely.

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Harry nodded his head. “Yeah, I know what imprints are. Are you trying to say that…” He froze, afraid to continue. He didn’t know if he wanted Jacob to say yes or no. The thought of having a mate, someone who would truly love him, sounded amazing. At the same time, Jacob deserved someone who wasn’t a disaster. Someone who had a little less baggage than him.”

“Yes, Harry, you are my imprint. Before you freak out, I won’t force you into anything. I’ll be whatever you need. A friend, protector…lover.”

Harry felt his cheeks heat at the last part. “You don’t know me, Jake, you don’t know the things I have done. I’m not…normal.”

“Understatement.” Emmett snorted.

“Shut up, Emmett,” Rosalie scolded.

Looking over his shoulder, Harry pointed to Emmett. “I come with baggage.”

“Understatement,” Embry repeated as he smirked at Emmett.

Both Harry and Jacob laughed. “Look, Harry, there’s no rush. I know this situation is complicated, especially because of what I am and what your family are, but I’m willing to try.”

Harry grimaced. “It’s even more complicated than what you think. I’m not exactly a normal human, but I would like to have that conversation first just between the two of us. I like you, Jake and I’m comfortable around you and I trust you and that’s not easy for me. I’m willing to see where this goes.”

Carlisle cleared his throat. “It seems we all have a lot of questions and concerns, but I think what is best right now is that my son gets some rest. I don’t know what went down with the nomads, but I don’t like how pale Harry is and how he keeps swaying as if he’s having trouble staying on his feet. How about we arrange a time and a place to meet after he has rested and is feeling up to it.”

Harry could see that Jacob was getting ready to argue so he added. “My head hurts so bad that I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to stand. The only reason I’m still conscious is because I’m stubborn. I’ll text you, okay?”

“Text?” Emmett repeated looking between his brother and Jacob, his eyes narrowing. “How the hell do you know my baby brother so well that you already have his number?”

“I met Jake my first day here,” Harry confessed. “He took me whale watching earlier.”

“You have been consorting with the enemy and we didn’t even know!” Emmett gasped dramatically, his hand clutching at his neck as though he was clutching at a pearl necklace. “How could you?”

Closing his eyes, Harry shook his head in exasperation. “He’s just some of my baggage, Jake, are you sure you want to get to know me better?”

“Rude!” Emmett pouted.

“Can’t say I like your family all that much, there’s history there, but for you, I'm willing to not kill them.”

“As if,”Jasper huffed.

Harry went to take a step towards his dad when his legs gave out on him. With vampire speed, Carlisle caught his son and lifted him up. “Are you alright?”

“My head hurts and I’m so tired.” Harry said weakly. “I think I’ll start that sleep thing now.”

When Harry went limp in Carlisle’s arms, Jacob started to panic. “He’s only sleeping, Jacob.” Carlisle quickly reassured.

“He’ll be alright, though, right?” Jacob asked fretfully.

“He will, he just needs to rest. Don’t freak out if you don’t hear from him until sometime tomorrow.”

“Carlisle,” Sam called when Carlisle turned to leave with his family. “This changes nothing, the treaty still stands. The boy, since he is human and Jacob’s imprint, will be allowed in our territory, but only the boy. I will give you my word that he will be safe with us. We would never hurt another’s imprint.”

Carlisle inclined his head. “I will contact Chief Black when Harry is ready, we have a lot to discuss.”

***HP

Edward was contemplating ways of killing himself because there was no way he could live with the guilt and pain of being the reason that Harry, his mate, was dead, when Bella interrupted his thoughts.

“Why didn’t you go with them to save Harry? I can’t believe that we just left him there? Couldn’t you have carried him too?”

Edward clenched his fists as he fought with the vampire inside of him. The vampire that very much wanted to rip Bella’s throat out and feast on her blood. In the beginning Carlisle had suspected that Bella was his singer, but he hadn’t wanted to hear it. He had been so desperate for love and a mate that he had forced his vampire into accepting Bella as theirs. Not that he ever really accepted her, every minute with Bella had been a struggle for him, but now that he accepted that Harry had been their true mate, his control over his vampire was slipping. Bella was his singer, the most perfect bloodmatch for his vampire. Singers were rare, so rare that some vampires never come across theirs, but when they do, they’re impossible to resist.

“Edward, why didn’t you carry him too?” Bella persisted.

“Because,” Edward roared, “if I had carried both of you, the nomads would have given chase and all three of us would be dead.”

Gasping, Bella covered her mouth with her hand. “You sacrificed your brother for me? I-I never would have asked you to do that.” Collapsing onto a chair, Bella started weeping.

Part of Edward wanted to comfort Bella as he did still love her, but an even bigger part of him wanted to drain her dry. He didn’t know how much longer he could control himself. “Bella, I need you to go home.”

Bella’s head snapped up. “What? Why?”

Edward closed his eyes, hating his weakness. “Bella, I’m not strong enough to fight the call of your blood. You need to leave before I give in to my vampire.”

Sucking her lips in, Bella shook her head. “You won’t hurt me, Edward, I know you won’t.”

“You know nothing, Bella!” Edward spat. “You don’t know how the smell of your blood is seared into my senses, how I fantasize sinking my teeth into your delicate neck. Your blood, Bella, would be the sweetest, most decadent blood that I have ever tasted. My throat constantly burns when I’m around you.” Edward moved to step towards her, but then flew to the other side of the room.

“Edward?” Bella called softly, her voice trembling.

“Please go, Bella,” Edward choked out as he pinched his nose and held his breath.

Bella stood up on trembling legs. “But I don’t have my truck and it’s too far to walk.”

“Call Charlie or Jacob, but you have to leave now. I’m too weak right now, Bella. The grief over my brother’s death is overwhelming me. I don’t need your death on my conscience too, especially at my hands.”

“You want me to call Jacob? Bella asked in disbelief. “You hate Jacob, you don’t want me anywhere around him.”

“Jacob will keep you safe from me,” Edward admitted brokenly. He didn’t know what was going to happen between him and Bella now that he knew that Harry was his true mate and Bella just his singer, but he didn’t want anything to happen to her. Did he want to see her with Jacob? Probably not, there was too much history between him and the wolf, but Jacob would treat her right and protect her. He just couldn’t see himself with her anymore, even though Harry was gone. He didn’t even think he could continue on living without his mate.

“I’ll leave, but will I see you tonight?”

Edward shook his head. “I can’t, Bella, and don’t be surprised if you don’t see me in school on Monday. I think I’m going to take off for a while, maybe visit our sister coven in Alaska.”

Stiffly nodding her head, Bella turned and sprinted out of the house. After he could no longer hear her, Edward crashed to his knees again. He had killed Harry. He had killed his mate. Had his death been quick or had the nomads tortured him first? They looked the type to play with their food before granting them death. God, what must have Harry’s last thoughts been? The betrayal he must have felt at him abandoning him. He died alone and scared.

Not wanting to be here when his family returned with Harry’s body, Edward was just getting ready to leave when he heard his family approaching. Picking up on their thoughts, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Harry was alive! Somehow his mate had survived the nomads.

Rushing out the door, he started to run towards Carlisle who was carrying his mate, when Emmett intercepted him. His brother didn’t say anything, but the look in his eyes told him everything. Emmett was furious.

***HP

Emmett was seeing red. Never had he wanted to kill anyone more than what he wanted to kill Edward right now. When he looked at Edward, he didn’t see his brother, he only saw the cowardly bastard that left his little brother to die a horrible death. He loved Rose, she was his everything, but he wouldn’t have left with her to save her from the nomads leaving Harry behind. He would have stayed and died protecting both her and Harry. They all may have died, but they would have died together.

Emmett didn’t give Edward a chance to open his fucking mouth. Grabbing him, he threw him as hard as he could, taking out at least a dozen trees before stopping a good hundred and fifty feet away.

“Emmett!” Esme gasped.

Emmett started to stalk towards Edward, who was just getting to his feet looking stunned. “Don’t worry, I won’t kill him. I’ll just hurt him. A lot!” He added.

“Good,” Rosalie sniffed. “Just keep it down so you don’t wake Harry.”

“It will be two days before he wakes,” Alice said sadly.

Jasper watched as Emmett threw Edward again, taking out even more trees. “I better stop him before he takes out the entire forest. It’s a good thing that we live deep in the woods otherwise we would have to explain that to the humans.”

***HP

Carlisle hated that his boys were fighting, but he couldn’t blame Emmett for needing to lash out. He was disgusted and stunned over Edward’s actions. He couldn’t believe that he had just left Harry behind for the nomads. He never would have believed that his oldest son could have been capable of such betrayal.

“I’ll get his bed ready,” Esme said as she rushed by Carlisle and into the house.

Looking down at his youngest son, Carlisle winced when he saw the dark circles forming under his eyes. Tilting Harry’s head slightly, he studied the new scar that was on his face. “Alice, did Harry have this scar when he returned home? I don’t recall seeing it.”

Taking peek, Alice sadly shook her head no. “I don’t understand, if one of the nomads gave it to him, how did it heal so quickly?”

Carlisle knew that witches and wizards tended to heal faster even without their spells and potions, but not even magic could heal that fast. “I think it may have something to do with the Hallows. Both Harry and Jacob said that Harry died, maybe the Hallows heals his injuries as well as brings him back from the dead. It makes sense that it would heal whatever killed him. He couldn’t exactly be walking around with a broken neck.”

“I’m guessing dying and coming back takes a lot out of him,” Alice said softly. “He wasn’t looking too good before he passed out.”

Entering Harry’s bedroom, Carlisle gently laid him down then stepped back so his wife could tuck him in and fuss over him. “I’m going to run to the hospital to get some supplies. If Harry is going to be unconscious for two days I want to start him on some iv fluids.”

“I can’t believe Edward left him,” Esme whimpered. “He just left him to die.”

Carlisle pulled Esme into his arms. “I know, I can’t believe it either, but Edward has been messed up ever since Bella.”

“It’s not Bella’s fault,” Esme defended weakly.

“Not directly, but it can’t be healthy constantly being at odds with your vampire over your singer. He has literally been torturing himself every time he is around her. Bella has become an obsession and it’s not healthy.”

“You’re right, I know you are, it was just nice seeing Edward happy. He’s been lonely for such a long time.”

Carlisle kissed the top of his mate’s head. “It will all work out.”

“If Harry doesn’t kill Edward for leaving him to die,” Esme sighed.

“There is that,” Carlisle agreed. “I can’t imagine Harry will be very forgiving.”

Easing his truck onto the side of the road, Jacob grabbed the blanket next to him then jumped out of his truck. “What the hell happened?” He demanded as he draped the blanket over Bella’s shivering shoulders. He had just returned home when he received a call from Bella asking if he could pick her up. He was confused as to why she was so far from home and on foot, but he didn’t want to waste time asking her questions so he just grabbed a blanket and jumped in his truck. He may no longer have feelings for Bella, but she was still his friend.

“Thank you,” Bella said her eyes red and puffy. “I didn’t want to bother you, but Charlie was out on a call.”

“Bella, it’s not a bother.” Jacob reassured. “Did your truck break down somewhere?”

Climbing into the truck, Bella leaned in closer to the heater. “No, my truck is at home.”

Jacob cranked the heater up to high. “Bella, I can tell you have been crying. What’s going on? Is it Edward?” He knew that Bella had been with Edward and Harry, but other than Edward grabbing Bella and abandoning Harry, he didn’t know any other details.

“Edward is going through something,” Bella said in a small, trembling voice.

“He’ll be going through something alright,” Jacob growled. “When I get my hands on him I’m going to…”

Bella quickly reached out and grabbed Jacob’s hand. “Don’t, Jacob, Edward didn’t hurt me.”

Jacob glanced over at Bella. “Bella, this isn’t about you, it’s about Harry. I’m going to beat the shit out of him for leaving Harry to be killed by those fucking leeches. When I’m through with him, he’s going to wish he hadn’t been a fucking cowered.”

Bella looked at Jacob in disbelief. “You know Harry? You know what happened earlier?”

Jacob couldn’t keep the grin off his face. “I met Harry his first day here. He was walking from Forks to La Push when I found him sitting on the side of road.” Replaying that day in his mind, he frowned when something dawned on him. Harry had said one of his brothers had broken his wrist. Blood running cold, he slammed his foot down on the break.

“Jacob!” Bella cried as her head whipped forward then back against the seat.

Gripping the steering wheel so tightly that it was creaking, Jacob grit out between clenched teeth. “Bella, do you know how Harry broke his wrist.”

“Eyes going wide, Bella paled. “It was an accident,” she said breathlessly.

“Who. Broke. His. Wrist?” Jacob growled. He knew who it was just by Bella’s actions, but he needed to hear it from her.

“Edward,” Bella said as she raised her chin in defiance. “But it was an accident. When Harry went to shake my hand, Edward grabbed Harry’s wrist thinking he was going to hurt me.”

Chest rapidly rising and falling, Jacob jumped out of the truck before he lost control and shifted in it. “That’s bullshit, Bella, and you know it. Harry said he has known Edward since he was eight, that they were family, why the hell would he think Harry would hurt you? I’m going to kill him!” He roared.

“Why are you getting so upset, you barely know Harry?” Bella snapped.

“Because Harry is my imprint!” Jacob yelled.

Gasping, Bella shook her head no. “Harry can’t be your imprint, he’s a guy. Harry is also…” Choking up, Bella started crying again.

“Dead! Is that what you were going to say? Unlike fucking Edward, I didn’t abandon Harry when I found him surrounded by leeches. I ripped the heads off all three all of them and then the pack burned them.”

“Harry is alive? Oh thank god!” Bella cried. “But he can’t be your imprint, Jake, I thought I was.”

Jacob wanted to laugh, but he was still too furious over Edward being the one to break Harry’s wrist. “Bella, when you asked if I found my imprint, I told you no.”

“I-I thought you just said that so I wouldn’t feel guilty for wanting to be with Edward. If I wasn’t your imprint, why did you want to be with me?”

“Because I liked you, Bella,” Jacob answered truthfully, though looking back now, a big part of his attraction to Bella was because he didn’t want her to be with Edward.

“And you don’t like me now?”

Jacob shook his head. “Not like that, not anymore..”

Bella frowned at that. “There’s something odd about Harry. I don’t think he’s completely human.”

Jacob chuckled at hearing that. There was no way Harry was completely human. Humans couldn’t come back from the dead. It didn’t matter, he didn’t care what Harry was. Harry was his imprint and he couldn’t be anymore happier. Though, he did wish that Harry wasn’t connected to the Cullens, that was going to complicate things.

Looking up at the beautiful house located deep in the woods, Fred gave an appreciative whistle. “Not how I expected vampires to live.”

Standing next to him, George nodded his head. “That’s a lot of windows. Makes it harder to hide the coffins.”

“You know that vampires don’t sleep coffins,” Fred chuckled. “But I didn’t think they lived in houses this incredible. What do you think they need all those windows for? Almost the entire house is windows.”

George shrugged. “Beats me. Come on, let’s go find Harriekins before Ron has kittens.”

“It’s not like Harry to miss a checkin and Ronnie did warn him that he’d send us if he did.” Walking up to the door, Fred raised his fist to knock when the door was wrenched open.

“Fred! George!” Alice squealed as she threw herself at a stunned Fred.

“Uhm, Freddie boy, what do you have there?” George asked with a smirk. “Care to share?” He added, holding his arms open.

“I’m not sure, but I think it’s a mini vampire.”

Giggling, Alice slid off of Fred then launched herself at George. “I have always wanted to meet the two of you. The stories Harry would tell in his letters about you guys would have us all laughing. We are going to become such good friends.”

“Let me guess, you’re Alice?” Fred said warmly. “Harry has told us a lot about you and the rest of your family.”

Dropping back to her feet, Alice looked up at the twins, who were considerably taller than her. Tapping her chin thoughtfully, she looked to George. “You’re George,” she said. Then pointing to Fred, she added. “And you’re Fred.”

“How?” George asked. “Our own mother can’t tell us apart.”

Eyes sparking mischievously, Alice shrugged. “I guess you can just say I’m good.”

“Alice?” Carlisle said, stepping out of the house. Looking to the twins, he grinned. “Fred and George Weasley, I presume?” He asked, holding out his hand out to shake. “I’m Carlisle Cullen, Harry’s father.”

Grinning, both twins grabbed Carlisle’s hand at the same time and vigorously shook it. “Greetings, Harry’s vampire father,” they chorused.

Footsteps could be heard racing through the house and then the next second Emmett was hurdling out the door. “You’re here!” He cried excitedly. “I have so many ideas for a new prank line. Please say you will hire me. Please! Please! Please! Please!”

“You must be Emmett,” George said. “We heard about the prank you played on your mate. Purple hair dye in her shampoo? That was a dangerous prank. You’re hired!”

“She kicked me out of the bedroom until it washed out,” Emmett bragged. “It took two months. Fun prank, but never again. It wasn’t worth the dry spell.”

“Noted!” Fred and George said at the same time.

“Please come in,” Carlisle said, opening the door wider and stepping to the side.

Stepping into the house, Fred looked around, frowning when he didn’t see Harry. “Where is our sweet Harriekins? He missed two checkins with Ronald so naturally our little brother is having kittens.”

“Please sit down,” Carlisle sighed.

Both Fred and George tensed, their smiles slipping off their faces. Sensing that something wasn’t right, George said. “We’d rather stand. Just tell us where Harry is.”

“Harry is alright, at least we think he is, but there was an incident.”

“What kind of incident?” Fred asked, his eyes hard.

“I take it since you are Harry’s friends…”

“Family,” the twins interrupted. “We are is his family every bit as much as you are.”

“Of course,” Carlisle said inclining his head in acknowledgment. “I didn’t mean to offend you. Forgive me. As I was saying, I’m sure you know about the issue Harry has been having with his magic and the Hallows.”

“We do,” the twins answered.

“Two days ago after a family baseball game, Harry, as well as my other son Edward and his girlfriend, encountered three nomad, human blood drinking vampires. Harry is alright now as far as I can tell, but his neck was snapped by one of the vampires and he died for a brief amount of time.”

“He died!” George asked in a panic. ‘For how the hell long?”

“None of us were there with him when it happened, but from we have been told by a friend of his that was there, it was only for a few moments.”

Fred narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean none of you were there? You just said he was with Edward.”

“The bastard left him,” Edward snarled getting mad all over again. “He grabbed his human and ran with his cowardly tail tucked between his legs.”

“Emmett, that’s not helping,” Carlisle scolded.

“I wasn’t trying to help,” Emmett grumbled.

Carlisle shook his head. “Harry did die and come back, but is seems that doing so took a lot out of him. He complained of a migraine and exhaustion and then he passed out. He’s upstairs where we have been keeping a close eye on him. Alice said that he will wake tomorrow.”

The twins were silent for a few minutes as they processed everything they just learned. Eyes hardening, Fred looked to Emmett. “Where’s Edward?”

Emmett’s grin was terrifying. “He’s in Alaska visiting our sister coven for a few days to lick his wounds.”

“Did you hurt him?”

“Just a lot,” Emmett admitted with pride.

“We figured for Harry’s sake that it would be best for Edward not to be here when he wakes. I’m sure that was a traumatic experience…”

The twins started laughing. “You do realize that that wasn’t the first time Harry has died…or even been abandoned by someone he considerers family? Granted with Ron there were extenuating circumstances, but he had abandoned Harry.” George explained,

“Yeah, but the dunce returned with his tail tucked between his legs,” Fred said, defending his brother.

George nodded his head in agreement. “What we are trying to say, Harry is tougher than what anyone thinks. I’m sure it sucked kicking the bucket again, but I doubt he’ll be traumatized over it.”

“I think what Carlisle meant, was that we thought it would be safer for Edward if he wasn’t here when Harry wakes.”

George smirked. “Now that makes more sense. Harry may look cute and cuddly, but he has one hell of a temper.”

Fred nodded vigorously. “That he does, brother. Luckily it takes a lot to push him to losing it, but I’m pretty positive that being abandoned by your brother to die horrifically at the hands of three vampires will do it.”

Lips pursing in thought, Fred looked to his twin. “I guess Harry’s suspicions of being immortal was correct.”

“That’s not what Harry wanted,” George sighed.

“Since when has Harry ever gotten what he wanted?” Fred said sadly. Turning to Carlisle, he asked. “Can we see Harry?”

“Of course,” Carlisle answered.

Groaning, Harry went to lift his arm when he felt something tugging on it. Peeling his eyes open, he saw that he was hooked up to an IV. “What the hell?” He croaked out, his mouth feeling dry and tongue too thick for his mouth.

“Tsk, tsk, Harriekins, such a dirty little mouth.”

Head flopping to the side, Harry grinned dopily. “George, what are you doing here?”

“Ron sent us when you missed two checkins.”

“Two!” Harry cried, or at least attempted to cry. His mouth and throat were so dry that it was hard to talk.

Esme came bustling into the room carrying a glass of ice water with a straw in it. “Small sips, sweetheart,” she instructed.

Harry obediently did as told, the cool water soothing his throat. Feeling better, he slowly sat up, relieved when his head didn’t start hurting. Looking back down at his harm, he grimaced at the iv. “Can this come out?”

“Your father will be home in five minutes.” Esme said. “He will remove that as well as your cast.”

“My cast?” Harry questioned.

“Your friend George magically scanned your wrist and he said it was healed.”

Having just taken another sip of water, Harry started choking. “You let George cast a spell on me? George Weasley? George Weasley who is notorious for his pranks? Did he give me horns or a beard?”

“Har, har, very funny, Harry,” George said.

“How is your head?” Esme asked.

“Perfectly fine, thank Merlin. I will happily go the rest of my life without dying and coming back. That was not fun.”

“Do you think you’re up for some dinner?”

Harry eagerly nodded his head. “I’m starving.”

Leaning down, Esme kissed him on the head. “I have some chicken and potatoes cooking. Dinner will be ready in about thirty minutes.”

Harry watched as Esme left him room then he cast a silencing charm on his room, surprised when he didn’t blow anything up. It was strange, but his magic felt more settled. “Where is he?” He asked, his voice turning hard. Knowing his father was going to be upset with him, but not caring, he peeled the tape off that was holding his IV in place then ripped the IV out.

George didn’t need to ask who Harry was talking about. “He’s in Alaska.”

“So he’s with the Denali Coven,” Harry said knowingly. He had met Eleazar and Carmen once when he was a kid when they visited Carlisle. Swinging his legs over the bed, he stood up. “I’m going to kill him.”

“From what I understand, Emmett did one hell of a number on him.”

“Good, but not good enough. He left me, George. The fucking bastard left me to die.”

“I’m sorry.”

“He’s going to be the one that’s sorry.” Storming to his dresser, Harry started digging out a change of clothes. He was furious and Edward wasn’t even here for him to kill. How could Edward do that to him? They were brothers, he loved Edward.

“Harry?” George called gently.

Feeling something wet drop onto his hand, Harry was surprised to find that he was crying. Shoulders slumping, he turned back to George. “I died again. My neck was snapped and I died. Do you know what that means?”

Face serious, George nodded his head. “I’m sorry, I know that being immortal isn’t what you wanted.”

“Why would I want to live forever when almost the first eighteen years of my life has been nothing but hell? Even now that the war is over and Voldemort gone, I’m still fighting for my life.”

“You’re not doing a good job of it from what I can see,” George joked.

Despite his tears, Harry started laughing. “Hey, it was three against one and I didn’t have my wand. I really have to figure out what’s going on with my magic so I’m never helpless again. I may be immortal, but coming back from the dead sucks. Has it really been two days?”

“Yeah, and Ron was ready to send the entire Order here to check on you. I used your mirror when I first got here to let him know that you’re still alive and I explained to him what happened. Of course Hermione went into research mode, but I don’t see how she’ll be able to find any answers in a book. I don’t think there has ever been a Master of Death.”

Slumping back against the dresser, Harry rubbed at his face. “Ugh, my life is so crazy. Did anyone tell you about Jacob?”

“Oh, I have heard about your boyfriend,” George said, his eyes sparkling mischievously. “but your family couldn’t tell us everything because of some treaty.”

“Us? Is Fred here?”

“He was, but your hyper sister forced him to go shopping with her. Now tell me, Harriekins, what is the secret surrounding your boyfriend.”

Harry blushed. “Jacob isn’t my boyfriend, at least not yet. Jacob is a wolf shifter and I’m his imprint.”

“Holy shit!” George gasped. “That’s huge. Are you attracted to him? Imprints don’t always mean mates.”

Harry’s face felt hot. “I’m insanely attracted to him and he’s the one who took out the nomads. Ripped their heads clean off their bodies.”

“Now that’s hot,” George winked.

“I think my magic also really likes him,” Harry added. “Every time I’m around him my magic responds to him and I don’t feel like it’s as uncontrollable and wild. I don’t know, it’s hard to explain.”

“Sounds like he’s your mate and he’s unknowingly grounding your magic. Even before the Hallows you had more magic in your wee body than any other witch or wizard in probably over two hundred years. Extremely powerful wizards have been known to have mates to help control all that magic.”

Harry was quiet for a few minutes as he thought about that. “Do we have destined soul mates or just those that we are more compatible with? Like, could you have more than one person who could be your mate?”

“Well, I know creatures normally have destined soul mates, but I’m not a thousand percent positive about witches and wizards. I know there are those that our magic is more compatible with. Take mom and dad for example, they are definitely compatible with each other, that’s why they were able to pop out so many of us kids. Then there are the Malfoy’s. Theirs was an arranged marriage and a lot of times with arranged marriages their magic isn’t compatible making it harder for them to conceive. I was told by a Slytherin that I was secretly dating that Lucius and Narcissa tried everything, even potions considered dark and illegal, to have another child, but their magic just wasn’t compatible enough to produce a second child.”

Harry frowned. “That’s kind of sad, but at the same time we don’t need more Malfoys.”

“Ain’t the the truth, Draco is more than enough.”

“It was Draco, wasn’t it?” Harry asked slyly.

George fidgeted nervously. “What was Draco?”

Harry smirked. “The Slytherin you were dating secretly. It was Draco?”

“We are not talking about me, Harry,” George said, evading the question. “Why do you ask if there could be other possible mates?”

Now it was Harry who was fidgeting. “My magic reacts the same way around Edward, though not as strongly. Granted, I have hardly spent anytime with him since I returned.”

Throwing his head back, George started laughing. “Only you, Harry.”

Harry started grumbling. “Well Edward can kiss my Master of Death ass. After what he did, I would never be able to fully trust him. I understand that he was just wanting to protect someone he thinks is his mate, which she totally isn’t, but he didn’t even return with the rest of the family to help me. That’s something I won’t ever be able to forgive. Jacob has only known me for a couple days and he risked his life for me. Granted I died anyway, but at least Jacob had been there for me.”

“I can’t wait to meet this wolf shifter. As your big brother, I get to give the shovel talk. Does he know you’re a wizard?”

“No, not yet, but I’m going to tell him. We are supposed to meet with the shifters when I’m feeling up to it. I don’t know any details, but I don’t think they like my family very much and I believe the feelings our mutual.”

“Your dad couldn’t tell me that your boyfriend was a shifter, but he did tell me that they have a treaty and part of the treaty is that they can’t reveal what each other are to the humans.”

“So that’s why no one told me there were wolf shifters here.”

“And of course you being you, you found one on your first day here.”

“Funny,” Harry deadpanned. “So…about Draco?”

***HP

Harry was standing in the clearing with his family and the Weasley twins waiting on the shifters. It was time for him to come clean about his magic and everything that went down with the nomads, most importantly, how he came back from the dead. Seeing Fred smirking to George out of the corner of his eye, he walked up to the pair and pointed his finger at them.

“You two will behave yourselves,” Harry ordered sternly. “I mean it. The shifters are going to have enough thrown at them, I don’t need your pranks making things more difficult. The shifters already hate my family so I’m sure that the pack alpha isn’t happy that Jacob imprinted on me. I know I barely know Jacob, but I really like him so if you ruin this for me, I’m going to sick your sister and Hermione on you.”

Paling, the twins quickly nodded their heads. Looking sheepish, Fred held his hand out to Emmett who then dug into his pants pocket and pulled out two round objects. Mouthing sorry to Harry, Emmett dropped both objects in Fred’s hand.

“What were those?” Harry asked, but then he held his hand out. “You know what, I don’t want to know. If one prank is played on the shifters there will be hell to pay.”

“We’ll be good, we promise,” the twins and Emmett chorused.

Harry shook his head. “I knew the three of you together was going to be a disaster.”

“The dogs are coming,” Rosalie spat, glaring in to the woods.

“At least try, Rosalie,” Harry pleaded. “You don’t have to like them, but you also don’t have to insult them.”

Huffing, Rosalie violently crossed her arms over her chest. “I don’t like it, I actually hate it, but for you I will try.”

Harry had his back turned, but he felt it the moment Jacob stepped into the clearing. His magic was so responsive to Jacob that it gave him goosebumps. Turning, he gave a small smile when his eyes landed on Jacob. Walking with Jacob was his alpha and the other shifter Embry and flanking them were four wolves in full shift.

“They don’t trust us, that’s why they are in wolf form,” Rosalie said as narrowed her eyes at the shifters.

“Smart,” Harry said, inclining his head respectfully to Jacob’s alpha.

“I agree,” Jasper said, surprising Harry. “What?” He chuckled at the look on his brother’s face. “I was a major in the Confederate army, I can respect strategy.”

“It’s disturbing that you were in the Civil War,” Jacob said as he stopped in front of Harry. “How are you feeling?”

“Alive,” Harry joked. “I don’t remember if I thanked you for coming to my rescue, so thank you, Jacob.”

“You don’t have to thank me, Harry, especially seeing as you still died.”

“Yeah, that was unfortunate,” Harry chuckled awkwardly.

“So you’re all…” Jacob looked Harry up and down, “healed from dying?”

“Nothing a forty hour nap couldn’t heal.”

“Oh god, this is so awkward,” Emmett muttered.

Turning his head, Harry glared at his brother. “Kindly shut up!” he barked.

Embry started laughing. “I think I’m going to like your zombie.”

“He’s not a zombie,” Jacob defended, but then looked at Harry and asked. “Are you?”

Snorting, Harry shook his head no. “I’m actually a wizard.”

“Way to blurt it out,” George groaned.

“A wizard?” Jacob asked slowly.

“Yup! I even have a wand,” Harry said, pulling out the Elder wand and showing Jacob.

“Careful with that thing,” Emmett snickered, “you don’t want to blow anyone up.”

Shoulders slumping, Harry spun around to face Emmett again. “Are you sure about that? Are you really sure about that? I can think of one person that I’d like to blow up.”

“Ouch! That’s hurtful,” Emmett pouted.

Sam, who had been quiet up until that point, finally spoke up. “Wizards are real? Don’t get offended if we don’t believe you, we are fairly new shifters and have never encountered a wizard before.”

“You believe him?” Embry asked Sam in disbelief.

“If shifters and vampires are real, why not wizards?” Jacob asked of his friend.

Embry shrugged then smirked Harry. “If you’re a real wizard, then you’ll have no problem showing us some magic, right?”

“Yeah, Harry, show him some magic,” Emmett egged on.

“Son,” Carlisle cautioned.

“He can do it,” George said reassuringly. “How does you magic feel?”

Harry blushed slightly as his eyes flicked in Jacob’s direction. “Pretty good, I think.”

“Lover boy,” Fred called, motioning to Jacob. “Get closer and put your hand on Harry’s back.”

“Who are you?” Jacob asked, not unkindly, but cautiously.

“We are lover boy’s brothers so you can expect the shovel before we leave, only we’re wizards too and have far better tools at our disposal than shovels.”

Groaning, Harry dropped his chin to his chest and prayed for patience. It warmed his heart that Fred and George were so protective of him, but it was also kind of embarrassing. Feeling a warm hand on his back, he looked up to find Jacob grinning down at him. Yes down because Jacob was considerably taller than him.

“It’s alright, I’m not offended and I’m sure as hell not going to be scared off by them. I’m a wolf.”

Harry snorted. “True, but you don’t know Fred and George, they’re a damn nightmare.”

“Oy!” Fred and George cried.

Jacob ignored them. “So, magic?”

“Right,” Harry sighed. Pressing back against Jacob’s warm hand and taking a second to enjoy how right it felt, he closed his eyes and focused on his magic, blocking everything but Jacob’s warmth from his mind.

Feeling a calmness settle over him, he relaxed as felt inside himself, his magic and the magic of the Hallows for the first time feeling one with him. Could Jacob really be the answer? Was he strong enough to help stabilize his magic and the magic of the Hallows? Right now, with Jacob at his side, he didn’t feel like the Hallows were too much for him to control. He felt like he could finally truly accept the Hallows.

“Expecto Patronum!” Harry said with confidence, not at all concerned that he was going to blow something up or set someone on fire. He could hear gasps from those around him, but he took a minute to just sink into his magic and bask in its warmth and love before opening his eyes. He didn’t know if it was his imagination, or the magic from the Resurrection Stone, but he swore he could feel his mom, dad, Sirius, and Remus close to him, like they were hugging him and give him their support. If he could always feel them this close to him then being immortal wouldn’t be so bad.

“Harry!” Jacob whispered in awe in Harry’s ear.

At Jacob’s soft voice, Harry opened his eyes, his own gasp leaving his lips. He had fully been expecting to see a beautiful stag standing before him, but he hadn’t been expecting to see a doe, a grim, and a werewolf standing proudly with the stag, all four staring lovingly at him.

“Sweet Merlin,” George gasped in disbelief. “That shouldn’t be possible.”

With tears in his eyes, Harry held his hand out. When all four pushed their noses into his hand, he knew that everything was going to be okay, that he was where he was meant to be with people that would love him unconditionally for the rest of his existence. Jacob may not be immortal, not like vampires, but as long as he continued shifting, the shifter magic and his magic would prevent him from aging. He didn’t know how he knew this, he just did. Maybe it was because he was Master of Death, but he just knew that Jacob wouldn’t grow old and die, not unless he wanted to and stopped shifting.

Smiling softly, Harry inclined his head then watched as his patronuses faded away. He was sad to see them go, but he knew that he would be able to call on them whenever he needed.

“That was the most amazing thing I have ever seen,” Jacob said breathlessly.

Harry smiled up at Jacob, relieved to see no fear in his eyes. Even though he knew Jacob was his, could feel it in every fiber of his being, a part of him had still been terrified that Jacob would be scared of his magic or disgusted with him. He was hated and abused by his only blood family for having magic so a big part of him had expected the same from Jacob. Just looking into Jacob’s eyes, he could tell that Jacob was nothing like the Dursleys. Jacob looked at him like he was the most amazing and most precious person on the planet. He knew that all his struggles weren’t over yet just because he now had control over his magic, there was still a lot of questions to answer and some of his own to ask. He knew that the shifters didn’t like his family and that his family didn’t like them back so that was going to complicate things, but hopefully for his and Jacob’s sake they will all be able to set their differences aside and at least be civil towards each other. Then there was Edward. Fucking Edward! He didn’t know what he was going to do about Edward when he returned. Him and Edward had once been incredibly close, but ever since he returned Edward has been acting strange around him, like the growling and breaking his wrist, but it was the abandoning him they he couldn’t forgive. He didn’t know what he was going to about him, but he was hoping Edward stayed away long enough for his temper to cool down because right now he wanted to kill him. Edward was a problem for another day though. Right now he had a mate to get to know better and a pack of shifters to win over.

Originally when I was planning this out in my head, all the Cullens were pretty much going to push Harry away in favor of Bella, but I couldn’t see them doing that, especially Rosalie, so I decided to just make Edward be the asshole. I also always planned on this just being a Harry/Jacob pairing, but I figured I would leave it up for you all to decide. Leave a review and tell me what you think. A) Harry/Jacob or B) Harry/Jacob/Edward.

I’m also going to try being more active on my FB so friend me over at Miste Potter.
