Bearthless
It had been two weeks since that day down by the lake, and Marlene still didn't know what to do. She and Dorcas had met up quite a few times during those two weeks, and it certainly didn't help Marlene in figuring it all out. What would she do? One way would be to stop seeing Dorcas, spend some time on her own while she thoguht it through. But she couldn't. With the war going on outside she never felt safe anywhere anymore, considering her father was a muggle, but somehow Dorcas seemed to take all of those worries away.
Marlene knew it was foolish of her to trust the dark haired girl. She'd only known her for two weeks, and before that she thought she was one fo them. What if her fussed mind made the wrong judgement before? What if Dorcas was one of them, she just pretended to be friends so that she could figure something out from the other side? Marlene didn't even dare to think of it. Besides, it would have been a daft idea. Marlene didn't know more than the average person, reading from the Daily Prophet.
Currently, Marlene was on her way to the sixth floor, where she was going to meet Dorcas. She was already running a few minutes late, but that Dorcas just had to live with. She made Marlene swear that she wouldn't tell her friends, after all, which also meant finding a good enough excuse and a bit of agruing to be left alone.
On the sixth floor there was a room filled with different instruments. They weren't of high cuality, since they were all quite old, but it was still rather cozy in there, and everyone had forgotten that it even existed in the first place, which meant no one would find the two girls acting friendly towards each other.
As Marlene drew closer towards the music room she heard faint playing coming from in there. It sounded like the aucustic guitar. As she got even nearer, she could hear some faint singing to the music. Marlene, taken over by curiosity, cautiously opened the door a bit more to look inside. To her astonishment it was Dorcas. Marlene didnt know that Dorcas could play the quitar, or sing for that matter.
Marlene just stood there in the doorway, admiring Dorcas as she kept playing. Two of Dorcas's braids fell from the bun displayed at the back of her neck, and Marlene just wanted to walk up to her and set them behind her ear, 'accidentally' touching her dark skin as she did. She didn't do it. It felt way too risky, showing off affection like that when it'd only been two weeks of herself knowing about her current feelings.
For some reason, Marlene thought it was a brilliant idea to lean against the door as she listened, which resulted in herself almost falling to the floor and hitting her elbow against the door in the process, emitting a slight sound. Dorcas snapped her head Marlene's way as she heard it, and visibly relaxed when she saw who it was.
"Don't firghten me like that!" She said, standing up from where she was sitting crosslegged on the floor. She hung the guitar back where she'd taken it from the wall. "I though you were a teacher, or worse, Peeves." She then added, looking back at the blonde girl again.
Marlene ignored her as she straightened her posture. "I didn't know you sang, or played the guitar." She said, rubbing her aching elbow. She stepped inside the room, looking around a bit more.
"You've never sneaked up on me playing before," Dorcas replied, looking at Marlene as she was looking around the room more closely. Marlene had been there before, but she hadn't had the time to actually enjoy it. "Well then, what are we doing here?" Dorcas then added, looking at the blonde expectantly.
"I don't know, you're the one that suggested this place." Marlene answered, shrugging, as she looked more closely at the piano.
"Right..." Dorcas muttered to herself. That didn't mean Marlene couldn't hear it, though.
"How about we just wander the hallways? Much more exciting than this." Marlene said as she turned to face Dorcas again. The dark haired girl nodded, and started walking towards the door.
After a couple of minutes of walking the pair had arrived on the seventh floor, close to the Ravenclaw tower. That's when they heard two people talking further down the corridor. The two girls stopped in their tracks, both trying to recignise who it was.
Suddenly, Marlene grabbed Dorcas's wrist annd dragged her off in the opposite direction than the voices. Bollocks, it was Lily and Remus. Marlene ran as quietly and fast as she could in her heels, which was impossible. Quickly, Marlene opened the door to a narrow broom closet.
"What are you-" Dorcas started, but was shushed by Marlene who shoved her into the closet before entering herself and closing the door quietly.
The girls tried looking at each other, but it was way too dark in the closet. They could feel each other's breath as they tried to catch their breath, though, which meant that they were standing close together. They heard Lily just outside the closet. She had followed them and was trying to see where they went.
"I think they went forwards." They could hear Remus say from the other side of the door, and then there was loud steps, walking away from there.
Marlene exhaled in relief, leaning back against the wall. "Finally they're gone," she said quietly. Dorcas nodded, first now realising how close their bodies were.
The two were staring into the darkness, right at each other. Their breaths were still uneven, and it was crowded. Really crowded.
Everything in there tensed again, and before they knew it, Marlene was holding Dorcas close to her as she kissed her, and Dorcas kissed Marlene.
They were kissing for a minute or two, Marlene having her hands on Dorcas's waist and Dorcas having hers in Marlene's hair. Her bronde and soft hair. Dorcas wanted to run her hands through that hair forever. In the end, though, they had to pull away for air.
They both looked at each other, their eyes now used tot he darkness, and burst out laughing.
"I guess that went well," Dorcas said, smiling like crazy.
"Yeah, I guess it did," Marlene replied, with an equally bright smile as the girl before her.
