Regulus Black and the Dreams of a Lichen Prince
The war had ground to a halt in the blink of an eye. Lucian, the most feared and ruthless leader to ever rule the Lycan clan, had finally been killed. The Lycan horde scattered like ash in an evening of flame and retribution. Victory seemed within our grasp, the very birthright of the vampires. Nearly six centuries had passed since that night, yet the ancient feud stubbornly refused to die alongside Lucian. The Lycans, though fewer in number, had grown more perilous; the moon no longer held sway over them. Older and more powerful Lycans had gained the ability to shift at will. While our weapons had evolved, our orders remained the same: hunt them down and eliminate them, one by one.
Perhaps it was too successful a campaign. For those like me, a Death Dealer, this signaled the end of an era. Like the weapons of the past, we, too, would become obsolete. It was a pity, for I lived for the hunt. But it turned out to be a lie. Lucian had survived that night, and the Lycans had amassed a larger force in secret than I had anticipated. They, along with Viktor's regent Kraven, had effortlessly massacred the ancient Amelia. Before these events, I had heard the Lycan horde and, in my haste, awakened my father Viktor, breaking the chain between the three elders: Marcus Corvinus, Lucian, and Viktor.
Or so it seemed. Unknown to the vampires, a new leader had been chosen for the Lycans. Lucian was now a co-leader alongside a man named Regulus Arcturus Black, the second heir to the most ancient House of Black. Thought to be dead in the wizarding world, Regulus had survived. For the undead had not claimed him; Lucian saved him just before he succumbed to thirst.
In his desperation for a son and companion, Lucian adopted Regulus. Witches and wizards who were disowned, abandoned, abused, or ridiculed—orphans left to die—were given a new chance at life. Lucian appreciated Regulus’ new approach, recognizing it meant a greater number of children would be prepared to fight when the time called for it. They considered Lucian and Regulus co-leaders as family, and those who were also Lycans were treated as kin.
One child, Harry James Potter, caught Regulus's eye. He watched as the boy’s so-called relatives abused him day in and day out. Those wretched humans did not deserve to have a child at all. Their chubby child was dangerously close to obesity, but no one cared. They would soon face dire consequences without realizing it—all except for the little boy. Abused and ridiculed in his own home, Harry was essentially a slave to those humans.
**Lucian would hear of this.** I knew without a doubt he would rescue the boy without hesitation. But those in the wizarding world like me knew that Albus Dumbledore had placed Harry with his relatives. However, all that would soon change.
### Regulus's POV
At number 4 Privet Drive, hiding in the shadows despite the broad daylight, I observed the Potter boy as he limped out to weed the garden.
**Lichen Beast thoughts.**
"Those humans will pay for what they have done to the poor cub!"
**Regular thoughts to the inner wolf.**
"Stop! You will have your chance, Arcturus."
**Inner Beast.**
"Fine, I can wait a little longer."
My wolf huffed indignantly, like a small child throwing a tantrum. I snorted at the thought. "Stop it."
I was ignored in our mental exchange. "Okay, now to get the child."
Using my Lycan abilities, I crept up to Harry. I tapped the little boy on the shoulder gently; he jumped, suddenly face to face with me.
### Harry's POV
I jumped when I felt someone tap my shoulder. Turning around, I saw a man with striking gray eyes and a build that would make Uncle Vernon seethe with jealousy. He stood at 6'2" tall—certainly more muscular than Uncle Vernon. He had the physique of an astonishingly beautiful wrestler.
I stared, somewhat awed, as the strange man smiled at me. He was formidable, but his expression was soft and kind. This man looked as though he could easily overpower Uncle Vernon in a wrestling match—or perhaps even kill him. I wanted nothing more than to escape my relatives, those who had caused me so much pain and torment.
It might have been inappropriate for a seven-year-old to think this way, but I felt an inner rage bloom from my cold relatives. I wished nothing more than to be free from them. Maybe this man could help me? I hoped fervently that he could take me away.
I managed a tentative smile. The man seemed as though he had witnessed too many children like me who had been mistreated. He smiled gently, reassuringly. I felt compelled to ask him his name first.
"What is your name, sir?"
He smiled back. "My name is Regulus Arcturus Black, but you can call me Regulus—or Reggie."
"Like the star, Regulus?" I asked curiously.
He grinned. "Exactly."
We bonded quickly, and I felt a strange instinct that told me he wouldn’t hurt me. There was something about his presence that made me feel safe—I sensed that I was not alone. In his gaze, I saw understanding; he had endured mental abuse too. I felt I could trust him.
### Overview and Narration
Within a day, I had freed the boy from his relatives’ grasp, but I could already see the damage that had been inflicted upon him. Albus Dumbledore would pay for this, I was certain.
### Regulus's POV
I led the small child to an ice cream shop, where we both indulged in a sweet treat. As we chatted about everything, I learned more about his home life. The more he shared, the more my rage boiled. I longed to storm that wretched place and exact revenge on those who had hurt him.
I couldn’t let my inner wolf dictate my actions completely. I had a mission: to take the child from his abusive home, bring him to Lucian, and begin our work. We had fifteen other children in our care, and twenty-four nurturing Lycans ready to provide for them.
One of them was Lily Evans Potter, who had not died; Lucian had turned her at sixteen. Harry, or rather, Alexander, would eventually see his mother. I had removed every magical trace of him, including tracking charms, potions, and blocks. Somehow, he had managed to inherit some vampire abilities—only vampire abilities. He was a Lycan with wizardly gifts, and Lucian would teach him that later.
The true leader of the Light would pay for this, I felt Alexander's inner beast snarl in agreement. Lucian was his father, not James Potter. Lily had fled in her Lycan form with her baby in tow. Dumbledore had killed James, but could not locate Lily or the baby.
Until a vampire, unknowingly, aided Dumbledore. Realizing his mistake, he helped Lily to her hiding spot with Lucian. There, she was turned and given a new chance to find her son and create a life with him.
The real boy's name was Alexander Sonia Evans Corvinus. I knew this for a fact as Alexander's inner beast revealed everything to me. I unblocked all of his memories, and now he was seething with rage towards those who had hurt him.
"Will you help me out, Regulus?" he asked.
"Yes, cub, I will."
With that, Alexander finished his ice cream, and his mood brightened again. I chuckled as he magically summoned his possessions and climbed onto my neck in delight.
### Overview and Regulus's Navigation
The mission was complete—at least in my eyes. I successfully rescued the child; now it was just a matter of time before the true reckoning began.
### Lucian's POV
In our secret hideout, Viktor had spent centuries exterminating my kind. But a new day was dawning. I had fallen in love with Lily Evans while she sought refuge with me. She had given birth to our son, Alexander Sonia Corvinus.
I felt my son alive out there, and I would have him back. My second-in-command, Regulus Black, harbored no ill will toward me, even though history had seen me take a vampire as my bride—a forbidden act that Viktor had forbidden, fearing the blending of our species. He had even executed his own daughter for her love of me.
But now, I had found love with a witch in Lily Evans. Together, we had a son, honoring both her and my past love, Sonia. We formed a peculiar but beautiful family, and Regulus had found our son.
As we rallied our strongest forces for a deep reckoning at Number 4 Privet Drive, victory was imminent. I knew that my son would return to me, and with the guidance of his mother, he would be strong.
Alexander was not merely a child; he was a hybrid—an unprecedented fusion of Lycan and wizard, and potentially the most powerful being ever to exist. I would honor him as my son, not as a tool or weapon, but as the precious child he was, with dreams and desires of his own.
In time, we would rescue countless children, nurturing them and raising them in love and strength, guiding them just as we would guide our son, who would return to us soon.
### Overview and Lucian's Narration End
---
**Lucian's POV**
Children rushed happily over to me, their eyes sparkling with excitement. "Father, look what we found!" the eldest exclaimed. They had apprehended a thief attempting to steal a woman’s necklace, displaying impressive strength as they held him down.
I smirked at the thief. "Did you really think you would get away with this?"
As one of the children rummaged through the thief’s belongings, they uncovered an assortment of illegal items—a bag brimming with cash, jewelry, and drugs.
"This man is a criminal," I stated flatly, watching as the thief protested hopelessly.
“What should we do with him?” Sonia asked, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
“We will keep the money and turn the drugs over to the authorities. The jewelry stays with us.”
"You can't take all that!" the man shouted in desperation.
"Says the one who stole it all," I replied, maintaining my composure.
A female Lycan in a black leather bodysuit dragged the man away, ready to deliver him to the police. The children snickered as he continued to protest, silenced only by the taut knife held against his throat.
"When will humans ever learn that stealing is wrong?" Sonia mused.
"Perhaps they never will," I chuckled, sharing a smile with the children.
### Time Skip
At the werewolf castle, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation as we arrived with Alexander. Standing before him was a lavish hall bustling with Lycans, ready for the assembly we had called.
A woman with red hair and emerald green eyes framed by cobalt blue rings caught my attention. She was the queen of the Lycans, and the presence of the children in the room signaled a new era.
I called for the guards to enter and secure the doors, signaling the immediate start to our important meeting. Alexander was about to learn everything—his past, his potential, and the lineage he belonged to.
**Overview and Regular Narration End**
### Alexander's POV
As I was ushered into the hall, awe washed over me. Regulus had led me to what felt like the heart of a new family, where children of all ages gathered, curiosity etched upon their faces.
Among them, a little girl with raven-black hair and cobalt blue eyes met my gaze. She smiled, and I felt a spark of connection.
I turned to Regulus, beaming. "This is amazing."
"Welcome home, Alexander Sonia Corvinus," he said warmly.
Is that my mother? I thought, glancing around.
"Yes, she is," Regulus affirmed softly.
Without a second thought, I bolted toward my mother. I jumped into her arms, enveloping her in an embrace, tears of joy streaming down my face.
We were reunited at last, and I met my true father, Lucian, king of the Lycan clan. The sheer happiness on his face mirrored my own; he was filled with the joy I had longed for.
From that moment on, I knew I truly belonged. I had a family—a legitimate family—where I was cherished and upheld.
As I lay in my new bed, comfort washing over me, I let the dreams of my new life carry me away. I was home, and I was finally with my family.
