Captain Evans, They Say.
Captain Evans.
Stories about her circulate everywhere in the lands of the seven seas, this 21-year-old woman has managed to commit numerous robberies and crimes in her life, she appears and causes mayhem everywhere and then disappears like ashes in the wind.
Her crew includes many other wanted criminals and numerous police officers are after her, but to this day no one has found her, or if they have, they've come back empty-handed.
And yes, she may sound pretty crazy, but she's just a woman, and people who know Lily and not Captain Evans know that she's not some crazy murderous lunatic.
When Lily was little she always lived in her big sister's shadow, Petunia was everything Lily wanted to be, she had a lot of friends, she was good at everything and she got attention from their father who believed that she would become something great when she grew up.
But what about Lily?Β She failed at everything, her wisdom and gifts were not appreciated and she was nothing but invisible to her parents.
When she was about eight years old, his mother told her a story about a legendary island made of emeralds and that the place would be full of magic and joy but only the brave would dare to go find it.
At that moment Lily had decided that one day she would find it and prove to everyone that she was brave, the years passed and when she turned fifteen her mother died and her father started drinking and turned into a real asshole and when it all became too much for Lily to handle, she disappeared on her ship far away from home, towards the unknown, promising to find the fucking treasure.
Although Lily had promised to prove her bravery, she had failed, the only thing she had become was a criminal and a disappointment, she began robbing numerous kings and leaders and within four years she had become one of the most feared pirates in the world.
And the worst thing was that Lily enjoyed it, all the fear and destruction she caused, sometimes she wish she didn't, but she did.
"A woman who carries bravery and compassion deserves all the respect in this cruel world." They said, but Lily carried something more important than bravery and that was fear and catastrophe, she might not get respect but at least fear spread around her and that was the only thing worth caring about.
But luckily Lily wasn't alone, over the years she had found herself a crew and friends, friends who showed respect for her and that was enough.
And all those years he traveled the world with his gang looking for that treasure, but it never happened.
Now there was a 21-year-old alcoholic and criminal whose only home was her ship, which she also had to share with five other people.
Today she was somewhere near United kingdom, only water around her.
She was sitting in her office on the ground floor of her ship and was looking through her papers looking for something useful that would help her to get money for a new ship although the current one worked well and everyone could live on it but the appearance of her ship had been reported to the King of England, in other words, to her biggest hater.
Her office wasn't very big it contained a desk, a bench, a cupboard and some space to walk, it was decorated with chalkboards and paints, Lily took a cigar and matches from her desk and lit it up, after that, she took a drag from it.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the office door and before Lily could react, someone just rushed through the door.
It was James, his annoying and childish partner in crime and yes, he could be annoying in nature but he was good looking which always came in handy at mugging gigs as you always needed someone to distract people.
James was from Spain but he was half English, he had an angular symmetrical face, brown eyes and glasses, he was wearing a hat and his muscles fit well with his clothes, he was now standing in front of Lily's desk, his eyes locked directly on her.
"Good morning Lily." He said with an annoying grin on his face.
Lily sighed in frustration, "Don't call me that, I'm your boss you know." She said proudly while smoking her cigar.
James and Remus were pretty much the first to join her ship, Lily still remembers the day when she was seventeen and sat at the bar and saw two idiots fighting with the barista about how the drinks in that place were too tasteless, turned out that they were homeless at the time so Lily decided taking them to live on her ship because of the extra space and later of course involved them in her crimes.
She and James had a little romance but it didn't last long until Lily realized she didn't really like him, James was sad for about a week until he got over it and realized they were better just as friends.
"Yeah no, there's no way in hell that i'm ever gonna call you Captain Evans," James said with a laugh, after which he raised his glasses "but anyways i just came to tell you that since we'll pass through London soon, can we stop there and get more stuff we need?"
"Sure," Lily nodded, "but tell everyone to stay out of sight, we don't want to attract too much attention." She said, more serious now.
Because she knew how James used to lose his temper and end up in fights which resulted in their whereabouts being revealed.
"You can tell them that yourself." James said, clearly trying to get under Lily's skin.
"Never mind, get everyone on deck." She said annoyed, until she leaved the room.
She goes to get her bag from her bedroom, after which she heads to the deck of the ship where five people are waiting for her, on the left side is a wooden bench where Marlene and Mary, her best friends, are sitting.
Marlene has blonde layered hair that is mostly covered by her pirate scarf and Mary has dark skin and so dark brown hair that it almost looks black.
And standing a couple of meters away from them are James, Peter and Remus, usually they call themselves Prongs, Wormtail and Moony, because Lily once had to come up with nicknames for them for a gig and she thought James looked a bit like a deer, Peter's ears looked like rat's ears and No Remus now just happened to love the moon.
To tell the truth, Lily has started to regret coming up with names because they probably don't even remember their real names anymore.
And yes, her friends aren't super skilled pirates and for the most part they just know how to be stupid, but they were Lily's best friends and she couldn't live without them.
Remus understood everything and he always listened.
James brought laughter and joy to everything and always knew how to comfort.
Marlene, on the other hand, was like a caring big sister to her, which she never had.
And Mary wasβwell, her first love and she helped Lily realize who she was.
And Peter was everything, the heart of the whole place and he always knew how to help Lily if something was wrong.
They were her family.
Lily looked around until she noticed that one person was missing, "Where's that hostage?" She wondered.
Last week they had stopped their ship in France because Lily had unmanaged business with one of the richest men in the city, Orion Black, well to be honest, they weren't business at all, Lily just went to collect unpaid debts because Orion had cheated her in the casino year ago and she lost a lot of money that she had earned with difficulty, i.e. by robbing.
But still, when she went to collect her debts properly, Orion refused to pay, so Lily had lost her temper and started threatening him with a gun, which led Orion to call for guards, but Lily was not going to let it go, so she told Remus to grab Orion's son, Sirius, and take him to her ship as a hostage until his father came to pay.
This Sirius dude has now been tied up on their ship for a week but he doesn't seem to care at all and sometimes he even seems to enjoy it, Lily was pretty sure she was doing him a favor by taking him away from that idiot.
"He's still sleeping." Remus replied softly.
Lily raises an eyebrow in disbelief, "And how do you know that?"
"Um, well, yesterday I was waiting for him to fall asleep." Remus says awkwardly.
For some reason Remus seemed to like their hostage as he had spent most of the time with Sirius.
"Ah, of course you did, but don't get too attached to him, he's only here until Mr. Black pays his debt." Lily reminded until she started walking towards the bottom of the ship where the cell where this Sirius was kept was located.
When he got down he saw Sirius who had apparently already woken up, he was sitting in his cell with his legs crossed like some model, he was a little strange, he had black curly hair that reached about his shoulders and he was wearing a long leather jacket and boots, piercings all over his face and tattoos on his neck.
He's probably just gay. Lily thought.
Sirius still didn't notice Lily so she cleared her throat loudly to get his attention, Sirius flinched in shock until he turned his head towards Lily.
"Oh damn it, I wish you would've been the cute one." Sirius said disappointed, and Lily couldn't quite understand his strong French accent, but he was probably talking about Remus.
"Do you have any information about when your father will start looking for you?" Lily asked in frustration.
"My dad?" Sirius chuckled, "He hasn't probably even noticed that i'm gone and if he had he wouldn't give a fuck."
A shocked expression came to Lily's face, had she really kept Sirius here for nothing for a week?
Fucking hell.
"And it didn't occur to you to say that earlier?" Lily said, from the sound of her voice she was damn annoyed.
Sirius just shrugged his shoulders, "I thought you knew, or why the hell would you imagine that my father would go looking for his twenty-one year old son, whom he hates, from the other side of the globe?" He asked with a chuckle, "And why would I have said anything? I get free food and a place to sleep."
Lily couldn't believe what she was hearing, she wanted to kill him.
"Fuck you." Was the only thing that came out of his mouth.
It took her a couple of minutes to think about what she should do, or the easiest thing would be to just kill Sirius, but that was not an option now, she thought until he decided to give him the chance to join the group.
After that she took the keys from his pocket and opened the Sell's door, "Get out of there. If you need a place to live you have to show that you can act like a pirate and secondly you get to help me to get revenge on your father." Lily said sounding angry then she started walking back to the deck assuming Sirius would follow.
"Clear." Sirius said, he was really impressed, Lily was badass as hell, he then walked out of the sell and followed Lily.
When they got back on deck, Lily introduced him to places and people, told him the rules of the ship and told him to stay out of her way, all of which Sirius had agreed, but this did not convince Lily to believe that such a fool would be able to survive even a week with them.
Now Lily sat on the deck with Mary, Marlene, Remus and James and watched as Peter steered the ship and Sirius sat in the middle of the deck floor playing with his jewel and he looked like a bored little kid alone in the litter box.
"He's mental." Lily said as she sighed.
"Nah, he looks fucking awesome." James replied joyfully.
Lily was so annoyed that she could literally kill someone.
"Hey, this could be a good thing." Remus said as he placed his hand on her shoulder.
Lily turned to look at Remus directly and raised her eye brows, "Name one good thing about this."
Silence.
"Well first of all James finally got a friend that's mentally the same age and besides that dude is hot as hell." Sanoi Mary.
Lily chuckled, "Okay, fair enough," the joy from her face quickly turned into a death stare "but i swear to god if he messes up anything i will kill him."
"Woah, or maybe we should just calm down." Marlene said, hiding her shock with a laugh.
When the ship finally reached the port of London, Lily was so relieved that she was allowed to walk on land, because it had been more than a week since their last stop.
Their group quickly dispersed and went in different directions, Mary and Marlene immediately rushed to the goods store, Sirius went with Remus to get more food for the ship and only Lily and James remained, who stood on the Pier in complete silence.
It was quite dark already and to her surprise the whole place was very quiet.
"So, where are we gonna go?" James asked.
"I'm gonna go to the bar and meet up with Sev, you do whatever you want." Lily said with a smirk, knowing exactly how much James hated Severus.
Lily couldn't give a shit about James' and Severus' fights, Sev had been her best friend since they were six years old and even though they both ended up on different paths, their friendship didn't end.
Severus owned a bar on the corner of London, while Lily, well, was a wanted pirate.
"I'm coming with you." James said casually and started walking towards the bar, Lily just stood on the pier hoping that someone would distract James, because she couldn't stand any fights.
"Are you coming or not?"
Well, she didn't really have any other options.
They walked for about half an hour until they reached the bar, when they entered, Lily was immediately regretting it because it was full of drunkards, criminals and other thugs and in her situation it was a really bad thing because she knew very well that if anyone recognized him, he'd be screwed.
Lily walked over to the counter and sat down on the bar stool, she watched as Severus dusted and wondered how long it would take him to notice her.
"Boo!" He yelled which made Severus wince in fear. But his fear quickly turned into a smile when he recognized this red haired girl, "Hi Evans, it's been a while, you could finally pay off your five pound debt." He said crossing his arms, just kidding of course.
"You wish." Lily giggled.
The two talked for about an hour about life and what they have been doing, Severus had almost choked on his beer from shock when he heard Lily tell that the King of London wants him executed for her crimes.
"What the fuck?" Severus asked in shock.
"Yeah, I mean yes I did some bad things but it's not like I killed someone." Lily said casually, she acted like she didn't give a fuck.
Suddenly Severus' shock disappeared as he remembered something, "Oh, i almost forgot, your sister came by and apparently she's now a knight and works for the king."
Lily's heart missed a beat.
"Excuse me?" She said with a laugh, hoping it was a joke and that Severus would laugh too.
But Severus' mouth didn't budge, he just looked at Lily judgmentally until he handed her an envelope that had initials L.E written it.
Oh. Oh shit.
Lily started shaking as she tried to open the letter, she still couldn't imagine Petunia working for someone who wants Lily dead or yes they hated each other but she would never want anything bad to happen to Petunia.
And then, for the first time in years, Lily wished she'd never left her sister.
When she finally got the letter opened he hesitated for a moment, all she could think of was to burn the letter and pretend nothing had happened, but she knew she couldn't.
Dear, Lily.
The king hired me, come to visit me at castle i wanna talk.
Just dress up as a knight or something so you won't get caught.
From Petunia.
That's all she has to say, no apologise, no some long poetic bullshit? Lily thought.
Lily wanted to cry, but she knew she couldn't show her feelings in front of everyone, she needed a place to go.
Severus put a hand on her shoulder and stroked it gently, "Hey, it'll be okay." he said softly.
Lily stop.
Not a single tear.
Luckily for her, just as she was about to whistle, James rushed into the bar, which was strange because the last time Lily had seen James, he was sitting at one of the bar's tables and talking to someone.
Looking alarmed, he ran towards Lily and Severus until he stopped in front of them. "Lily, I was just in the yard and I just happened to overhear some man talking to one of the guards of the castle that he knows the location ofβ an Emerald map or something, then I realized that's not what you're looking for?" He explained indistinctly, out of breath from all the running.
Shit.
Now was definitely not a good time for something like that, but Lily didn't know if there would be another chance.
No, she had to find out.
Lily said goodbye to Severus who looked really confused.
"James, wait here I'm going to talk to that guy." Lily commanded as she took her knife from her bag.
"You don't even know what he looks like," James said calmly, "I'm coming with you."
Lily sighed, "Fine. But if you mess this up, I'll Swear that I'm gonna-" She didn't couldn't finish her words, she just wanted to cry.
But if there was anything that Lily had learned, it was that never show your emotions because it makes you look weak.
So she just walked out of the bar, to the dark alley and James followed her.
The bar yard was quiet and dark, the only sound that could be heard was Jamess breathing next to him.
"That guy over there." James whispered as he pointed to a short man standing about ten meters away from them.
Lily couldn't really see his face because it was so dark but she could make out his short black curly hair, he looked lost.
"Where's the other one?" Lily asked remembering James telling him that he had been talking to one of the castle guards, but before James could answer they both saw that this man was walking away.
Shit.
Lily ran after him but quietly enough that this man didn't hear, when she got right behind him she took out her knife and made a sudden movement and grabbed his neck from behind with her hand and put the knife next to his neck, so close that he could feel it in his neck.
"One move and you're dead." Lily said in a low but menacing voice, she heard the man's breathing become noticeably heavier.
Lily assumed he was scared but instead she just let out a small giggle under her breath, "You're a woman." He said with a strong accent that was very reminiscent of Sirius' way of speaking.
Oh so he's an asshole.
"Really? I didn't even notice." She replied sarcastically, "Now, tell me what you know about the Emerald island." He ordered, holding onto the boy even tighter.
No response.
"Oh, you forgot how to speak?" Lily asked, visibly irritated.
Still no response.
"Would you mind letting go of me and then we can talk." The man said.
Lily wasn't sure did she trust him, but she still decided to let go of him.
When the guy turned around and he was now standing infront of Lily.
He was pretty and he looked suprised, almost as if she recognized her.
"The king's looking for you." He said with a smirk.
"I'm aware, now, talk." Lily replied as she raised her knife.
But he didn't talk, instead he looked over Lily's shoulder, "Who is that?" He said pointing at James.
Lily didn't bother to turn around since he already knew that it was James.
"Who are you and what do you know about the emerald Island?" She repeated.
"They call me Regulus, and i don't know anything about the island i'm just helping a friend who wants to find it." Regulus said casually.
"Who is your friend?" Lily asked.
"The daughter of King Rosier."
Well this is interesting.
Maybe Lily will be visiting her sister, and maybe even have a little chat with the princess.
