Sirius Orion Black had only been speechless twice in his life, the first was when Remus proposed to him, he was speechless because he couldn't believe it and he was overjoyed at the news, the second time was in the aftermath of all that he had discovered today. Sirius Orion Black had another daughter and his own stupidity was the reason that he was absent from her life for the past 15 years, he felt terrible, full of guilt, anger and sadness. Thoughts shot uncontrollably through his mind, What would his other daughters think? What did Remus think? How would everyone react to the news? Would they be angry at him? Would Remus want a divorce after hearing of his husband's evident indiscretions? How would his daughters react to the news that they had a sister that no one had had any knowledge of for the entirety of her existence? However, his mind did not ruminate even play any interest to his daughter, it did not even occur to him that he should try to reach out to her and build a relationship with her similar to the ones he had with his own children.
By this time though, the Potter-Lupin-Black family were already back at Potter Manor, trying to decide how to decipher the shocking information that they had all just heard. It was unbelievable to them that Sirius actually had another child, moreover one that they had not met or even heard of just hours prior. They all sat in absolute silence, no one quite knew what to do or say, there was nothing they could do, except sit and stare into oblivion.
After an hour or so, James decided to finally speak, breaking the silence that had engulfed the room since their arrival, "What are we going to do about it? I mean, we can't just get on with our lives, Padfoot has another daughter that we just found out about."
Remus nodded at this, clearly agreeing that they would all have to do something to try and get to know the girl.
"We could ask if she wanted to stay with us over Christmas and/or Easter preferably as soon as possible, so that she can be part of the family and get to know all of us and the others as well as Harry and her siblings, though I suppose they'll get to know each other at school." said Lily, her voice sounding surprisingly optimistic considering the current situation.
"I agree, besides she is my step-daughter, I would like to try and get to know her." Remus replied, Sirius was shocked but thankful at this, he was so incredibly relieved that Remus did not feel any anger or resentment towards him for having a child with someone else. Sirius and James both nodded and so it was decided that Carina would be extended an invitation for Christmas.
Carina had payed little attention to the events that had occured the day before, instead she focused on what was really important, the Triwizard Tournament, despite not entering the tournament herself she was determined to win and make it out a victor. Carina was sitting in the Great Hall eating her breakfast planning how she would destroy the other champions, bare Fleur of course, when all of a sudden an owl dropped her a letter. Carefully, she opened it and began to read.
Dear Carina,
In light of recent discoveries, we were all wondering if you would be willing to come and join the rest of our family for lunch on Christmas Day. We would be delighted to have you and your uncle Regulus, please let us know your reply.
Sincerely, The Potter-Lupin-Black family
As Carina read the letter, rage grew inside of her like a burning volcano; she was disgusted at the feeble attempt to socialise with her, she knew they were only doing it out of obligation and not because they truly wanted to know her. She knew that they did not actually want her as part of their family, she had seen the way her father had abandoned her to go and be with them, she knew for certain that her father had left Regulus in the middle of the night in favour of being with the Potters. Carina hated the fact that her existence was known to them and that soon everyone would know that she was the unwanted daughter of Sirius Black the famous blood traitor, whilst she herself did not care for blood status and blood purity, Carina was well aware of the popularity it had among Purebloods, and if there was one thing for sure, she cared about her reputation in Pureblood society. Carina relished in being an enigma, the dark and mysterious Pureblood Princess that showed up unannounced to balls, whose mere presence caused gossip among the Pureblood elite as she was the only heir to two of the most powerful families, one of them being the Nobel and Most Ancient House of Black, the wealthiest family in the entire Wizarding World. Carina lived up to her title, being treated like a member of Royalty and now due to her father, her pristine reputation could come crashing down like an uncontrollable tidal wave. She was overflowing with fury at the idea that her father thought that he could come crashing into her life, ruin her reputation and expect her to go there and play happy families with the rest of his vile gang. Without a second thought, Carina wordlessly lit the paper on fire and left the Great Hall and expression of pure hatred on her gorgeous face.
Harry had arrived at the Great Hall early that morning on his parents request, apparently they had sent Carina an invitation to join them for Christmas that year and they wanted him there to make sure that everything went smoothly. Harry had been extremely surprised when he was told that Carina was Sirius's daughter, but looking at her closely he could in fact see the family resemblance, they both had the same sharp cheekbones, dark hair and of course they both had the same haunting grey eyes that looked like dark storm clouds. Harry's shock at the revelation was nothing in comparison to the twin's surprise at hearing that they had another sister. They had all found out together and whilst Harry had managed to contain his astonishment at the news, Janet and Rose (Sirius and Remus's adopted daughters) were extremely vocal about their surprise at this revelation, they were unsure how it was possible but nonetheless they had agreed to be friendly towards their new sister. It pained him when he saw Carina destroy the letter by lighting it on fire and then leave the hall an expression of incontrollable rage adorned on her face. Sighing, Harry went to tell everyone about how it had gone, he felt miserable that he could only give them the terrible news that she clearly wanted nothing to do with any of them.
