Note
Hello! So the tags aren't a whole lot right now, but I will update as I post, so check back if you feel you need to. I will also tag big warning stuff in the notes.I have changed the ages of some of the character's so that I could include them! Nothing should impact the story itself too bad, but if you notice characters are younger than they are canon, that's why.

prologue

Jane Prewett was not one people knew much about. She focused solely on three things: her friends, her family, and the ongoing war. She hadn't much time for anything else.

She really only had one true friend, and she happened to be a Slytherin. This was something that didn't sit well with any of her Gryffindor dorm mates and acquaintances. Granted, most of the school also didn't care much for the girl as she was known to be cocky and cold.

This Slytherin was a girl named Narcissa Black. She was  in the year below Jane and was betrothed to Lucius Malfoy. The girls spent most of their time in the Slytherin common room or in the Library.

It was rumored that Lucius spent his free time threatening anyone who dared to speak ill of  his fiancée and her friend. Though he would never admit it, Jane knew it was him that allowed her int he common room, and she was grateful for that. It probably also helped that Jane wouldn't hesitate to throw her own hexes out on people who disapproved of her.

Outside of school, the war consumed her. She had two brothers who were actively fighting for the good, a sister who was scared for her husband and children. It was hard for her to get the looming thoughts off her mind, and she didn't care to.

If there was one thing she knew it was that she would fight.

She never would've thought that's how her life would complicate.

Enter Sirius Black.

Now, Sirius Black is an egotistical, passionate, loud, popular boy one year below Jane. She doesn't live under a rock, so she obviously knows who the marauders, including Black, are.

However, she never gave them the time of the day. They never directly bothered her, and she never cared enough about their pranks to talk to them.

Until one day, Sirius finds her at the Three Broomsticks well past curfew during the middle of the week. It's then that she finds out that he's secretly liked her for years.

Despite only having four interactions with each other, that was enough for Sirius to decide that Jane was the girl of his dreams.

Sirius didn't have a family, at least not one he cared about, but he was blessed with his friend group. A group he would gladly fight and die for, much like Jane.
