Chapter 7: Snow wars
The next day I was shaken awake by Pansy.
"Wake up!" She yelled. "We don't have class today and theirs going to be a school wide snowball fight!"
"Huh?" I asked. "Who's idea was that?"
"Dumbledore."
I got dressed and Pansy grabbed my arm and pulled me out the door. We quickly ate and went outside. Most of the school, including the teachers, was outside.
I saw Severus and he waved at me. I waved back.
"How is this organized anyway?" I asked Pansy.
"Slytherin vs. Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff vs. Griffindor. The teachers are participating too!"
We walked over to the other Slytherins. It was freezing outside. I quickly cast a warming charm over myself.
"Here's the plan." Says Severus. "We build an impenetrable snow fort, and stand at the top throwing snowballs at everyone else."
We all nodded at got to work, carefully casting spells to shape the snow. We put icicles on the top of the walls. to make it hard to climb over.
A few minutes later Dumbledore yells out "Let the snow wars begin!!!"
I quickly propell snowballs with a launching charm over at the other snow forts. I had no idea if we were allowed to use magic, but Dumbledore never said we couldn't.
I launched a few more before a volley of snow hurled toward us, and I ducked. I looked where the snow had come from. The Ravenclaws. Figures. They tried to send another at us, but Severus blocks it with a shield charm and it falls to the ground. Some 2nd and 3rd years summon the snow, and use it to make more snowballs.
"There trying to climb the wall!" Yelled a boy. A group of Slytherins ran over and dumped snow on them, and they fell off.
After a while it was time for dinner. Even with the warming charm I had cast, it was freezing. I looked over at Draco and he was holding hands with Blaise, shivering. Once we got inside Severus cast warming and drying charms on us.
"Thanks." I said, when he got to me. There was snow in hair and eyelashes. He looked kinda like a powdered doughnut.
"No problem." He said. After dinner someone stole a hot chocolate machine thing from the house elves. It must be some muggle invention. I had never seen anything quite like it.
Eventually we figured out how it worked, and stated to make hot chocolate. Before we had even made 1 cup Severus walked in.
"The elves have lost their hot chocolate machine. Have you seen it?" Then he looked over at a table. "Ah. So that's where it went."
A few Slytherins looked guilty. "Sorry." They said.
He sighed and summoned it toward him. "Stop stealing from the elves." He snapped his fingers and summoned one of the house elves. The elf grabbed it from him, glared at us, and disappeared.
A girl walked in with some marshmallows. "Hey! Where'd the hot chocolate thing go!" She said.
"Professor Snape gave it back to the house elves." Said Pansy, looking a little disappointed.
"Great. Now what do we do with all the marshmallows." Asked the girl.
"You HAVE to eat marshmallows with hot chocolate." I said, looking at Severus. "Its the law." It wasn't the law, but it was worth a try.
He looked at me. "I might have a hot chocolate machine in my office." He said.
"Can we use it?" I asked, hoping he'd say yes. He looked at me, and smiled slightly.
"Yes you can. I'll go get it."
Everyone cheered.
A while later we all got our hot chocolate. Sadly we had to attend classes tomorrow. I sat in the corner with some girls and watched the room, avoiding most of the Alphas. Luckily Severus was here, and they were, mostly, intimidated my him enough to leave us alone.
