Remus placed his phone back down on the charger and got up to open his door. Tonks and Teddy were here.
“DADDY!!!!” The little blue-haired boy exclaimed, running right at Remus and almost knocking him off his feet.
Tonks shook her head and giggled at her boys’ antics and invited herself in, closing the door behind her. She walked in like she owned the place and set Teddys’ bags down on the table.
“Hey Teds!” Remus exclaimed as he sat down on the couch with Teddy on his lap. He didn't get to say much to his son, as he was talking a mile a minute about all the things he wanted to do while he stayed there.
Nymphadora Tonks and Remus Lupin were once two, stupid teens. They were ‘fucking around and they found out’ as Lily stated when they found out the news. They were only 16 when Tonks discovered she was pregnant.
They were great friends for almost 2 years before they started dating. And they were both kids. But soon after Tonks gave birth, they broke up.
Tonks’ parents accepted the news better than Remus’. The second Lyall Lupin found out; he left. No second thoughts, no questions, he just packed his bags and left Remus and Hope in his dirt.
Hope was as accepting as she could be and small part of her was happy. She hadn't had anything to take care of in a while as Remus had been her only child.
Teddy had two amazing parents, however, once of age Tonks moved to France with her new girlfriend, Fleur, and took Teddy with her. Remus was disappointed about this to say the least. He was furious. But they compromised and Teddy still gets to see Remus whenever he gets a chance.
Now, Teddy is staying with Remus for a week, as Tonks is going on a trip with her girlfriend.
“Puppy!!!!” Teddy shouted, making Tonks and Remus flinch in shock, as the little, five-year-old boy jumped off Remus and ran over to the dog.
Tonks strutted over to Remus and sat down right next to him, tucking her now bare feet under his warm thighs. “So, you got a dog?” She inquired, staring at Remus like he was one of her muses.
Remus smiled at his baby boy and dog and turned to her. “Yeah, found him on the streets, Lily took him for a checkup, and he has his shots and all.”
“What's his name?” She asked, and brought her hand up to Remus’ brown curls, brushing them lightly.
Everything was always natural with Tonks and him, anyone that saw them would be able to see that they were made for each other, just not in that way.
Remus tilted his head back in relaxation and responded, “Padfoot. Proper bastard, but he's sweet. Teds will have fun.”
Tonks hummed in agreement, and they rested on the couch as Teddy made himself acquainted himself with the dog.
After a few minutes, Remus got up off the couch and made his way to the kitchen to make him and Teddy some food. He hadn't ate since last night and could feel his stomach growling.
He listened to Tonks and Teddy talk in the room over and heard her explaining how long she would be gone.
He decided on making them some tomato soup and toasties. Remus and Teddy always loved Hope's recipe, and she passed it down to Remus. He let a smile grow on his face as he heard Teddy pick out David Bowie to spin on the record player.
Footsteps pattered behind him and before he knew it, Tonks and Teddy were standing behind him.
“Are you almost done daddy? Mama said she's leaving soon!”
“Yes pup, it's done now. Why don't you go sit down?”
Teddy nodded and ran over to the table where he took his seat at the table, practically vibrating in his seat.
“You’ll be okay right?” Tonks questioned, wrapping her arms around her torso from behind. It was almost domestic.
Remus placed his hands over Tonks’ and nodded. “I'm an adult, I am well capable of taking care of a kid too.”
He turned around and leaned against the counter, wrapping his arms around Tonks and placing a kiss on her forehead. “We will be fine.”
“I love you Rem,” She said, “You will call right?”
“You know it.”

After a full day of watching movies and playing with the dog, Remus finally got Teddy to lay down in bed. He sang a small song for Teddy and at last, he drifted off.
When Teddy stays, Remus sacrifices his small study to be Teddy’s room. The couch in there turns into a bed, and Teddy always sleeps amazingly on it.
He left the door open a crack and sauntered back into the living space. Padfoot was fast asleep on the leather chair, which he seemed to claim as his own.
Remus threw himself onto the couch and grabbed his phone off the charger. Much to his joy, there were text messages waiting.
