Damn that's alot of food
When finally James slipped back into consciousness he couldn't help but notice how bright ever light was in his eyes and how he had a burning pain all over his body.
James let out a small grunt as he moved his head to look around "prongs?" Said a small voice next to him. At first James didnt register somebody was actually next to him but eventually he saw that it was Sirius.
"James I've been worried sick, this is worse than one of your stupid quidditch injuries" Sirius said smiling with tear stains eyes and now deep eye bags.
"How long ave' i been out?" James asked sitting up in his bed in the infirmary, in the corner of his eye he could see madame pomfrey picking something up and coming towards him.
"Well you went missing for three days, everybody thought you were... Well.. dead.." Sirius stopped for a moment and turned back up to James with a hesitant smile "well after that you turned up yesterday morning- night? It was like 2am? So I guess you turned up this morning still doesn't matter. You've been asleep 15 hours now."
James shock his head, three days? Had he really been asleep in the forest for three days? But his thoughts were interrupted by an agitated madame pomfrey "Sirius you shouldn't even be here! And James good, good that yout better now boy, although you won't like this news unfortunately..." Madame pomfrey said putting all the bits and bobs she acquired and arranged the potions so they probably made coherent sense to her.
James turned to Sirius and then looked around again, neither Remus nor Peter were here so why was Sirius? "Stomach bug though miss, absolutely horrendous, projectile vomiting and all that innit?" Sirius said with a fake swoon and then smirked and winked at James.
"Well Sirius I say you should get some rest in the dorms, I need to speak to James now. In private" madame pomfrey said ushering Sirius over the door making James wonder what on earth she had to say privately to him.
"So whats wrong with me?" James said in a small voice moving himself up so he was sitting on his bed. Madame pomfrey just picked up a potion and handed it to him "here have this quickly dear" she said still scurrying around organising things.
When James thought she was going to explode from how much walking she was doing she finally stopped and deadpanned at James which in return made James' stomach flip.
"So Mr potter I have some unfortunate news.. you have a condition, much like your friend Remus's and yes it is incurable" she said slowly and at first James didn't understand, but then he did. He was a vampire that's what she was saying. Instinctively his hand went up to his neck to again check for the two little cuts he had on his neck.
"You probably already now by now Mr potter but your a vampire." Madame pomfrey looked around when somebody knocking on the door could be heard "one moment I'll have to get that, excuse me" she said getting up and opening the door.
James looked over to who had just entered with madame pomfrey and saw it was his parents monty and euphemia potter.
Merlin he didn't even take into consideration that his parents would find out. And his friends, Sirius probably already knew from the scars on his neck. Wait was James white now? If he was vampires were fucking racists, James quickly looked down to his arm to check his skin and make sure he wasn't and was in fact not white now and still had the same darkish brown skin he got from his mother.
"James? Darling are you alright?" Asked his mother walking over to James and placing her hand on his own, James looked up at her and suddenly felt an urge to cry and to talk and just to be with his mother.
"It's okay Jamie your gonna be fine" monty said shuffling next to euphemia and holding her hand aswell, with James just blinking repeatedly trying to figure out what to say?
Just what? 'oh hi mum and dad you haven't seen me for about two months but I'm a vampire now and probably will have to kill people yay!' yea he could bet the entirety of moonys chocolate collection that they wouldn't have a good reaction, atleast not to the killing bit.
"James talk to us. Are you okay?" Euphemia said snapping James back into reality. Euphemia's eyes trailed down James beck until she saw the bandage probably thick with blood at the two bites.
"Ah yes.. dumbledore told us. It's okay James we don't care" monty replied after seeing James tense under his mother's gaze. James just nodded still overwhelmed.
"James are you able to talk?" Euphemia asked letting go of his hand and standing up straighter. He wasn't sure why but at this action he felt like he could pour everything out to them.
"I'm fine.. it's just I was att-cked in the forest and well now I've got this thing" James said motioning to his neck and shrugging
"Why were you in the forest?" Euphemia asked looking skeptical. He parents knew about moonys' condition he could tell them.. but what if they told him he couldn't hang out with moony anymore? No they would never do that.. if they did do that though what would that mean for James? That truly his parents were against vampires? He was overthinking this. Just tell them the truth he thought
"Well I was in the forest.. because of ahem moonys condition" when the words came from James's mouth they didn't sound like him, no not his energetic confident voice that made him sound like he knew what he was doing most of the time, no his voice was raspy and unsure and for sure NOT his.
"Moony?- monty started but was interrupted by euphemia
"Yes moony is Remus, the tall one" she said tapping him on the arm. James was glad she hadn't said 'the werewolf one' because that wasn't his own defining quality and James didn't want 'vampire' as his own defining quality now.
"Anyways James continue" euphemia said looking back at james intensely.
"Well I was in the forest and I got- I got lost. You know how I've never been good at directions- anyways I got lost and this weird guy came up to me and told me to 'join him' and I said I wouldn't and then I don't really remember much after that except my head feeling like it was made mouldy static" James then remembered another detail of the story that seemed important and continued
"Oh yea and then after I woke up this centaur - fire-end? Wait no I think it was Firenze. Yes we'll anyways Firenze brung me back to hogwarts and than I just remember collapsing Infront of the gryffindor common room"
James' parents didn't have much of the reaction James expected they just nodded and put a package on his bed
"Well we have to go but your mother's made some of your favorite pani puri" monty said winking.
Ah yea his mum had probably made enough to last years. And then James saw her bring out a massive bag, and it was very massive, so massive in fact when she picked it up James couldn't see half of her anymore.
"Well James we have to go but when you come back home we'll be fine. And remember everything will become normal again but maybe this time in a different way." Great his mum dropping amazing advice whilst simultaneously placing an obscene amount of food next to him how the actual fuck was he supposed to get through all this. You know what nevermind he'd find a way.
Finally his parents left his bedside and he decided it was an absolutely amazing time to sleep because his head was pounding and he hadn't already slept enough of course.
