The Fate of the Roses
Summary
The Rosier family, having branches in both Loire, France and Sailsbury, England was one of the more ancient pure-blood families. They established themselves as members of the Sacred Twenty-Eight in the 1900's and had already made wide connections to other families by the time Grindelwald had taken over. But, what are the tidbits about this family that nobody has heard off much? Let's learn..

KIND REMINDER THE HCS ARE VERY HALF-ASSED

  • The Rosiers initially originated from a small clan on the outskirts of the Pyrenees. They practiced healing magic extensively and often tried to “cure” people of their ailments, actually killing them. Their reputation wasn’t exactly favorable but Mathilde Rosier, a scion of the Rosiers, found herself in the court of the House of Capet and managed to gain influence in the French court.  Her influence grew so strong that the king then, Philip II, granted Mathilde and her family a large area of land near the Pyrenees and fortune. Mathilde’s brother, Ambrose, built the family seat near the mountains using the wealth they had obtained. As with a few other of the Pure-Blooded families, a branch of the Rosiers originally came to Britain when the Normans settled in. Sidonie Rosier was a powerful sorceress who healed the area around Salisbury. Muggles in the area were subjugated and made to serve the sorceress and her family. They slaved away in a quarry to erect a magnificent castle. Secrets a plenty were put into the construction, and it is said that every Muggle who so much as laid eyes on the castle was killed before the property was made unplottable so the Rosiers would be free of such filth. The Rosiers still travel to the Loire estate during their holidays, or on family occasions.

  • The Rosiers had two sprawling estates; one in Salisbury, Wiltshire named "Rose Chateau" and the one in Loire, France called "Roseraie". Evander Rosier, a famous potioneer in the circles of Loire's wizarding society managed to capture the heart of Solène Leroy, the scion of the Leroy family. They had a daughter, Vinda (1900), and two sons: Corin Rosier (1905), and Henri Rosier (1909). The Rosiers would settle down in their Salisbury Estate meanwhile Vinda would be sent to live with her Leroy relatives. Vinda would become the infamous right hand for the Dark Lord, Gellert Grindelwald, a fervent believer of his ideals and a member of the Alliance in 1926. Corin Rosier married Adorabella Selwyn, a classmate of his and a long-time crush. Henri married Clarisse Nott, sister of Cantankerous Nott, and had three daughters: Cornélie, Drusille, and Isolde.

  • Isolde died young after contracting Cerebrumous Spattergroit, followed by Drusille drowning in a nearby lake during Isolde's wake. After enduring such tragedy, Clarisse Rosier would soon be found dead in her bedroom, having consumed muggle poison. Cornélie was then married off at a very young age to Hector Volant, leaving the fifteen-year-old to grieve alone while being wed to a man seventeen years her senior. Corin Rosier had three children: Sidonie Rosier (1924), named after the famed sorceress; Druella Rosier (1927), indirectly named for his late niece; and Lysander Rosier (1928), his son and heir. Druella would soon attract the attention of Cygnus Black III, a scion of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. The boy, being almost five years younger, posed the only trouble for Druella, almost like an animal waiting to catch its prey.

  • Druella Rosier was a particularly devious Slytherin, known to be more emotionally and academically intelligent than most of her peers in her year but unable to put it to good use as she was trapped in the mentality of being a good pure-blood wife for her future husband, and that "women must be seen, not heard," a sentiment upheld only by Druella. She followed every rule her father set for her and presented herself to as many eligible pure-bloods as she could, yet for some reason, Cygnus Black III always seemed to linger, following her like a lost puppy. He wasn't the heir; that title belonged to his brother, but Alphard Black had better ideas—needless to say, his appetites were rather different. Pollux Black needed heirs anyway, so on 24 June, 1948 - Cygnus Castor Black III became the husband of Druella Rosier.
