Chapt 1-A Twist In Time

Sunday, December 15th 1974
Hogwarts
Gryffindor common room
4th year

It was one of those lazy afternoons in the Gryffindor common room, where the fire crackled gently, and James was attempting—unsuccessfully—to balance a Snitch on the tip of his finger.

“This,” Sirius declared, lounging on the couch laying across remus, with an air of exaggerated importance, “is the most boring day in the history of boring days.”

“You could always do your homework,” Remus Lupin said without looking up from his book, though his lips twitched with the faintest hint of a smile, his hand lingering in his boyfriends hair.

“Moons, please, I thought you knew me better than that,” Sirius shot back, re-draping himself dramatically across Remus’s lap to face him.

Peter snorted from his seat by the window. “What about a prank? We haven’t done one in—”

James cut him off with a sharp gasp, holding up something small and glittering between his fingers that he found on the floor next to the fire pit. “Hold on. What’s this?”

Remus set his book down, adjusting his hand in Sirius' hair as he leaned closer. “That looks suspiciously like… a Time-Turner.”

“A what now?” Sirius frowned, snatching it from James’s hand.

“A Time-Turner,” Remus repeated, voice laced with caution. “Used to travel through time. Where did you find it?”

James' eyebrows furrow in confusion. "It was next to the fire but it wasn't there this morning.”

Remus groaned. “huh...how did it get here then.”

But Sirius was already twirling the delicate chain between his fingers, eyes gleaming with mischief. “Oh, Moony. You know because you love us... Can we test it? Pleaseee”

Remus opened his mouth to protest, but James was already grinning. “Fine but if it all goes to shit it's your fault, not mine”

James dragged everyone up, slipping the chain over all their heads. “Right, how does this work?”

Remus sighed, realizing resistance was futile. “You have to turn it for each hour—wait, how many times are you—”

Before he could finish, James had twisted it rapidly, and suddenly, the world spun around them in a blur of gold and light.

When they landed with a thud, Sirius groaned, rubbing his head. “Bloody hell. Where are we?”

James looked around, frowning at the unfamiliar corridor. “No idea, but—” He pointed to a nearby sign.

Welcome to Hogwarts, 1994.

The four of them froze. Remus paled.

“Brilliant,” Sirius breathed, eyes wide with excitement. “We’re in the future.”

And just like that, the Marauders were stuck in 1994.
