Midnight in the Restricted Section

Isagi hadn’t planned on sneaking into the library’s Restricted Section. He really hadn’t.

But somehow, he found himself standing outside its iron-gated entrance at midnight, heart pounding, with the beautiful Reo Mikage at his side, Isnt this a perfect way to show him more about himself? Well thats what Isagi though aswell!

“This is insane,” Isagi whispered, casting a glance down the dimly lit corridor. The air smelled of parchment, dust, and the faintest hint of candle wax. “Why are we even doing this again?”

Reo rolled his eyes. “Because I need to look up some advanced magical theory, and someone won’t lend me their copy of Cursed Artefacts and Their Hidden Potentials.”

“That someone being Rin?”

Reo scowled. “Obviously. He thinks I’ll ‘misuse’ it or some nonsense.”

Isagi exhaled through his nose. He wasn’t even surprised. But he was cute while saying that

“Alright, but why am I here?” he pressed. Like, I know that im better than Nagi, but you could’ve just said that to my face

“Because I need a lookout,” Reo answered with a smirk. “And you owe me for helping you dodge questions about the whole ‘acromantula incident.’”

That was
 fair.

With a sigh, Isagi gave in. “Fine. Let’s get this over with.”

Reo grinned and pulled out a thin, expensive-looking wand. He tapped it against the gate’s lock. “Alohomora.”

With a soft click, the gate swung open.

“Too easy,” Reo murmured, stepping inside.

Isagi followed, glancing around warily. The Restricted Section felt different from the rest of the library. The shelves loomed taller, packed with old, heavy tomes bound in dark leather. Some of the books had chains around them, and others seemed to whisper softly when they passed.

He swallowed. This place gave him the creeps.

---

Reo wasted no time, scanning the shelves with sharp eyes. “Help me look for—”

A sudden noise made them both freeze.

A rustling sound. Then a muttered voice.

Someone else was here.

Isagi instinctively reached for his wand, heart hammering in his chest. He exchanged a glance with Reo, who looked equally on edge.

They inched forward, careful not to make a sound.

And then—

“Oi, oi, didn’t know I’d have company tonight.”

Isagi’s stomach dropped.

There, standing casually in front of a shelf, flipping through an ancient book like he was reading a Quidditch magazine, was Shidou Ryusei.

He looked up at them with his signature feral grin. “Yo, Isagi. Mikage. Fancy seeing you here.” What is that bitch here on OUR date?

Reo groaned. “Oh, you have got to be kidding me.”

Isagi, still reeling, hissed, “What the hell are you doing here?”

Shidou snickered. “What do you think? Looking up some fun new spells.” He tilted the book to show them the title.

Hexes and Jinxes for the Unhinged Mind.

Isagi nearly choked. “What—why—”

“Don’t tell me you’re planning to actually use that,” Reo said, crossing his arms.

Shidou shrugged. “Depends on my mood.”

Isagi pinched the bridge of his nose. He had a headache forming. “Great. Just great. Of course you’re here.”

“Aw, don’t be like that, Isagi,” Shidou teased. “You’re starting to sound like Rin.”

Isagi scowled. “I am nothing like Rin.”

“Whatever you say.” Shidou shut the book with a thud. “So, what brings you two troublemakers here?”

“We’re not the troublemakers,” Reo snapped. “You are.”

Shidou smirked. “And yet, here we are. Together. In the Restricted Section. Breaking school rules.” He spread his arms dramatically. “I’d say that makes us all partners in crime. Especially you and I purple bun~” Oh hell nah, i am NOT letting him steal my man.

Reo made a strangled noise of frustration.

---

“Look, we’re not here to chat,” Isagi muttered. “We just need one book, and then we’re gone.”

“Same here,” Shidou said. “Well, maybe a couple of books. Haven’t decided yet.”

Reo turned back to the shelves, scanning for the title he needed. Isagi kept his eyes on Shidou, wary of whatever nonsense he was planning.

Then—

A book near the top shelf suddenly rattled.

All three of them snapped their heads toward it. The sound was faint but unmistakable.

“
Did you see that?” Isagi whispered.

Reo frowned. “Books don’t just move by themselves.”

Shidou, instead of being alarmed, looked intrigued. “Oh? Maybe it’s cursed.”

“Not everything is cursed,” Isagi muttered.

Shidou hummed. “You sure?”

Before Isagi could stop him, Shidou reached out—

The second his fingers brushed the book’s spine, a burst of black smoke erupted from it.

The room filled with an eerie, whispering sound, the voices overlapping in a language Isagi didn’t understand. The air went cold. The candles flickered wildly.

Reo cursed, stumbling back. “Damn it, Shidou! What did you do?!”

Shidou just laughed. “Oops.”

Isagi swore under his breath. “We are so screwed.”

The whispers grew louder. The black smoke twisted into the air, forming shadowy figures that slithered toward them.

Then—one of the bookshelves shook.

Isagi’s instincts screamed at him. “MOVE!”

He snatched Reo onto him just as one of the shelves collapsed, sending heavy books crashing to the floor. The impact made the whole room tremble.

Somewhere in the distance, a voice rang out—

“The hell was that? Who’s in there?!”

The night librarian.

Isagi’s blood ran cold. “Oh, no.”

Shidou’s eyes widened. “We need to Run guys~”

“No. We should hide here.” Isagi protests.

”Lets go find the nearest exit” Reo whispered

”I think thats a great idea Reo, lets go.” Isagi holds Reos hand as they all strayed away from their spot.

---

The three of them bolted, weaving between bookshelves as the librarian’s footsteps grew closer.

“Idiots, absolute idiots,” Reo muttered furiously as they ran.

Shidou just laughed. “This is the most fun I’ve had in ages!”

“Shut up and move!” Isagi hissed.

They skidded around a corner just as the librarian entered the Restricted Section. The three of them pressed themselves against a shelf, holding their breath.

The librarian muttered a few spells, inspecting the fallen books. “Who’s in here?”

For a few tense seconds, no one moved.

Then—Reo pointed at a side door near them.

A way out.

With careful, quiet steps, they slipped toward it.

And just as the librarian turned the other way—

They sprinted.

They didn’t stop running until they reached the empty corridors of the castle. Only then did they collapse against the wall, panting.

Shidou grinned, looking far too pleased. “Well, that was exciting.”

Reo glared at him. “You are unbelievable.”

Isagi groaned. “I am never sneaking into the library with Shidou again.”

Shidou slung an arm around Isagi’s shoulders, grinning. “Aw, don’t say that, Isagi. We make a great team.”

Isagi shoved him off.

Then a laughter erupted

Reo laughed, changes the presence of the conversation, wiping his tears away,

”This was super fun!”

But despite everything
 he couldn’t deny it.

That had been kind of fun.
